Does this apply to Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency?

Some of it, but not all. Secondary rarely needs fludro.

@@pokey3010 I’ve had secondary adrenal insufficiency for 8 years. I go to the endocrinologist now twice a year for labs etc. i live a normal life and have had no problems, but I had surgery recently and did consult the endo on my steroid coverage for the surgery. Best of luck to you! Janice

@@janicestuerzl6976 Wow sounds like you have excellent Endocrinologists. I was told 3 years go "being SAI isn't a big deal". So I've learned about most of it from the AI group.. I do pretty good had a few of those crisis episodes but got through with extra Prednisone. I see a new Endo next month so hopefully she will be better then the last.
Thank you again I wish you lots of happy luck too!!

@@pokey3010 It is hard to find an endocrinologist who understands and is experience with adrenal insufficiency. If you have a university medical center near, that is best. Secondary AI IS SERIOUS. Hydrocortisone is the much preferred steroid, not prednisone. Hydrocortisone must be taken morning and afternoon. For quality information visit the NADF website (National Adrenal Disease Foundation). All the info on it is vetted by specialist endocrinologists. It has a whole section on Secondary AI and if you contact them by email, they will send you more. And PLEASE WEAR A MEDICAL ALERT BRACELET OR NECKLACE ALL THE TIme! IF YOU ARE IN AN ACCIDENT, THE EMERGENCY ROOM MUST KNOW YOY HAVE ADRENAL INSUFFICIENCY. You should also carry a rescue injection of steroid. All of us AI patients carry one with us. Please ask your endocrinologist to prescribe it and teach you how to use it, the pharmacist at Wal Mart was a big help in this for me. Best of luck, and take care. You can live a good life but you do need to take care of yourself properly.
