I never got very into the group but I love the persistence in putting the community, people and art over the business and profit decisions that led to this so to support it I subbed to the Gfriend channel *after* they disbanded. I love how shocked people are about that. It's objectively not that revealing, plenty of female idols have performed in something like that or less without a fuss. oh, others already talked about byul's story for "midnight summer dream" but i didn't see any mentioning that it was a childhood story, her seeing a ghost in the house she was in at the time we did get one "midnight summer dream" live...a very weird one... in their s/s concert. very much worth checking out. solar had an absolute blast "rainy season" is something i can never get enough of. though i keep waffling on which version i prefer, the official one or the guide to it wheein did (she's uploaded a fair few of her guides on the fancafe. and she's the one who sang most of the guides to the group's songs. though swan from purple kiss has done several, too). unfortunately, "rainy season" is one of the reasons wheein is closed off compared to some of her earlier, super bubbly self you saw in many behind the scenes. she posted that 'now is a good time to listen to "rainy season"' early on a rainy day that, many hours later, became a typhoon (and did next to no damage, but that didn't stop these people). some aspects of the media and some knets twisted that, refusing to point out how much earlier her comment was than the storm, and called her insensitive for it. she wound up deleting the comment and issuing an apology, despite having done nothing wrong... another reactor talking about "sky sky" says the production for byul's rap sounds so, so different than the rest of the track... like they recorded her part at rbw with its in-house team (probably pws) instead of the setup used by the main producers for the song. Not all contestants are complete rookies as there'll sometimes be slightly more established rappers such as idols or ones who are known on the underground scene. After being on the show a few of them have collabed with Mamamoo, mostly Wheein or Hwasa on their own. To name a couple there's Sik-k who ft. on Easy & Hash Swan who ft. on Moderato. Another rapper called Woodie Go Child has a song Cotton Candy ft. Hwasa. Can't remember if you've seen/heard hwasa's song Don't with Loco but Loco won the very first season of SMTM in 2012 - went on to become a really popular artist. Honestly the girls have such a long list of featurings to their discography anyway! Some really good tracks in there but wouldn't say they'd ALL be your vibe since it's so varied...

This album is all over the place and has one surprise after another. MSD is one of my fav b-sides. The song is experimental by kpop standards and the vocal melody seems very unusual and difficult to pull off, tho of course MMM makes it seem effortless. Sky Sky has some nice vocal moments but it's one of my least favorite MMM songs. It sounds like GFriend because it was done by a GFriend producer and I'm sure that's why they threw in some GFriend choreo too. For me GFriend & APink have several things in common despite not sounding similar at all. Both are good friends with MMM, both do variations on the innocent gg concept, they have two of the nicest fandoms in kpop, and in both cases I feel kinda bad about not liking their music very much. I can see why you would like GFriend - their music is pretty sophisticated but it's just not my style. Not sure what Rainy Season is doing on the Summer/Red album rather than the melancholy Blue:S album but it's a beautiful song. Sleep in the Car was first done live in 2017 and they performed several arrangements of it over the next year before settling on this version for the cd. My fave is the longer version they did at a 2017 fanmeet. You have to see them all. Just search on SITC live and you'll find them. Selfish is such a cool song and MV. Love the re-imagined bossa nova and the way MB took the cute bluffing concept from Yes I Am and turned it into what I would call swag bluffing.
Yea definitely doesn’t have the cohesion of BLUE;S but not every album has to be that way lol. Rainy season feels strange in this one but I don’t mind a nice vibe switch. Swag bluffing lol I like that 😂

You can say Sky! Sky! was Mamamoo doing GFriend concept. These two groups also did a variety show together where they do each other's MV (Rough for Mamamoo and You're the best for GFriend). Given the fact that GFriend has announced their disbandment recently really make me feel sad, especially given the history between the two groups.

Sky! , Sleep In The Car Along with other 4seasons songs were performed at their s/s concert which was before the f/w concert but unlike the f/w one it wasn’t recorded by RBW and wasn’t made into a dvd which is a shame because the fan cams don’t do the s/s concert justice.

also, mamamoo's 'i'm pretty rapstar' skits are pretty much worth checking out at some point. esp if you'd seen the 'unpretty rapstar' episodes they made fun of (and it's pretty funny how many of those artists they've interacted with since. many loved the skits)
This album is all over the place and has one surprise after another.
MSD is one of my fav b-sides. The song is experimental by kpop standards and the vocal melody seems very unusual and difficult to pull off, tho of course MMM makes it seem effortless.
Sky Sky has some nice vocal moments but it's one of my least favorite MMM songs. It sounds like GFriend because it was done by a GFriend producer and I'm sure that's why they threw in some GFriend choreo too. For me GFriend & APink have several things in common despite not sounding similar at all. Both are good friends with MMM, both do variations on the innocent gg concept, they have two of the nicest fandoms in kpop, and in both cases I feel kinda bad about not liking their music very much. I can see why you would like GFriend - their music is pretty sophisticated but it's just not my style.
Not sure what Rainy Season is doing on the Summer/Red album rather than the melancholy Blue:S album but it's a beautiful song.
Sleep in the Car was first done live in 2017 and they performed several arrangements of it over the next year before settling on this version for the cd. My fave is the longer version they did at a 2017 fanmeet. You have to see them all. Just search on SITC live and you'll find them.
Selfish is such a cool song and MV. Love the re-imagined bossa nova and the way MB took the cute bluffing concept from Yes I Am and turned it into what I would call swag bluffing.
Yea definitely doesn’t have the cohesion of BLUE;S but not every album has to be that way lol. Rainy season feels strange in this one but I don’t mind a nice vibe switch. Swag bluffing lol I like that 😂

The song sleep in the car was written by the CEO because the girls were talking about how they sleep in the car after shooting a MV. Also you asked about selfish Moonbyul asked Selgi to be in the mv. They also did a show together called idot they had to write a script there was other stars in this as well Yooa from oh my girl Somi you would love it

You can say Sky! Sky! was Mamamoo doing GFriend concept. These two groups also did a variety show together where they do each other's MV (Rough for Mamamoo and You're the best for GFriend). Given the fact that GFriend has announced their disbandment recently really make me feel sad, especially given the history between the two groups.

Sky Sky I can't even and will probably never even. Like why the song had to be so good. I can't even hate it properly. If only the vocals were not out of this world or Moonbyul's ability to ride any beat anytime anywhere was absent or something but nooooooo they had to be amazing and so cringe at the same time. This was not even mean to be a compliment. That's must be what haters feels like on a daily basics.

i think the problem a lot seem to have with it is that it just doesn't 'feel' like a mamamoo song... which makes sense, in a way, since the producer that created it had done so much of gfriend's older work (nice catch on that, btw, brandon)

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it, but unfortunately for us, Sky! Sky! , Sleep In The Car Along with other 4seasons songs were performed at their s/s concert which was before the f/w concert but unlike the f/w one it wasn’t recorded by RBW and wasn’t made into a dvd which is a shame because the fan cams don’t do the s/s concert justice.

I'm kind of mad that you didn't talk about Hwasa's grit in Midnight Summer Dream after talking about Solar's and Wheein's. Hwasa is the queen of grit. She did the same part as them after the bridge, the I don't know what happened to me, and she positively growled those words.
