Ive never thought that Moroni was imperfect because of the difficulty of engraving. He thought they were not mighty in writing as they were in speaking. Ive always thought their words were powerful. I love The Book of Mormon.
Thanks so much brother Bryce for your help and inspiration to help us to see the GOLD and be okay with the imperfections of men. I been blessed with your insights of the word of God.❤
Bro. Bryce, I could listen to you all day. You have an awesome way of teaching with the Spirit. Thank you so much for these videos. You have opened my mind and heart to understanding the gospel and temple more clearly.
Incredibly inspired timing, thank you for sharing 🙏🔥 I was thinking about that phrase on the title page. How could this book of scripture claim to be true, while also not claiming inerrancy and openly admitting there may be occasional mistakes? How can WE know what is a gap in our understanding or a mistake of man? As I thought about it, I began to appreciate much more Moroni's humility. And the answer came! The reason the Book of Mormon is true is because it primarily functions as a TESTIMONY. It is a testimony of Jesus Christ. Think of the fast and testimony meetings we have...we don't expect perfect eloquence from those sharing testimony. They may stumble over their words, repeat themselves, forget to include things, etc etc, and yet we know that the testimony is true. How? The Spirit of Truth. The Spirit can easily overcome the limits of speech and written text and testify of truth to our hearts and souls. When a child bears their testimony, when a foreign missionary shares their testimony, when an old dementia stricken member shares their testimony, the spirit takes what is given, delivers it to our hearts and tells us, "this is true". The Book of Mormon is TRUE. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is TRUE. Joseph Smith was a prophet and he was TRUE. Anything that testifies of the Living, Resurrected Jesus Christ is without a doubt...TRUE!
I think the writings in the BoM is brilliant and wonderful writing. So it must be the very "learned" that mock it's writing which i am far from. No college degree. But whatvi do have is common sense and a humble heart.
Moroni was objectively a poor writer when he started. However, if you compare the clumsiness of Mormon 8 with the polish of Moroni 10, you can see exactly what God can do with a humble person.
The timing of this presentation, Bro. Dunford, was perfect! Thank you …. Thank you! I am sending it on to each member of my Come Follow Me weekly Gospel Study Group and my family.
Thank you! We have often discussed the humanness of our leaders. I have said exactly what you have presented here so eloquently! You have affirmed my assumptions! I love it! I will always love the gold, but love those who try to help us and the Lord! ❤️
D&C 52:37- spells it Simons Ryder. On gravestone it is spelled Symonds Ryder. Classic! 😂 Love your videos and the simplistic way you explain difficult things! Thank you so much!
Thank you. So many of my family members struggle with the gold and clay principle. I also recognized some writing errors that the writers have tried to correct. You found different ones than I did.
I have always loved the "or's" in the Book of Mormon! Ever since learning about them in Seminary, I thought they were interesting. I had 2 of the 3 already marked in my scriptures, specifically for the "or"! 😄
And when new church leaders or church leaders make new adjustments or clarifications, I have come to appreciate and adore those because then I know I wasn't out of place for wondering about something, and it's okay to wonder and Ponder in face
Thank you for comments Bryce. This is such a critical principles that SO MANY members of the church don't understand. Just today I was chastised for sharing my opinion that the name of our church should be simplified to "The Church of Jesus Christ" because they believed the name of the church is pure gold so I was effectively criticizing Christ himself because the name of the church came straight from Christ. This dude probably hasn't considered that the church's original name of "Church of Christ" and then "Church of the Latter Day Saints". And don't get me started on the discrimination faced by faithful black members of the church. Gold and clay is such a critical principle to understand to avoid putting your faith in the arm of flesh (ie church leaders).
I heard when that man died the state misspelled his first and last name on his grave . Funny people do typos on face book and some go crazy to correct it even when they know what it is . If people thought a prophet was perfect then seems they do not really believe Jesus Christ is the only perfect person . Because a prophet murmered at a tired and hungry moment he wasn’t Dening anything . He lost his faith for a moment of Hungar. It seems that Joseph Smith did not make mistakes reading it . But the scribes writing it . He had them read it back to him before he moved on . But he didn’t check the spelling or if ink did not fall on it . The scribes spelled better and obviously Joseph Smith can’t do them both at the same time . The Book of Mormon is an amazing miracle . How Joseph Smith can pick right up where he left off. I see the whole book as gold . A treasury for us for our time . In it you find the answeres to everything that applies just to us and to our times .
President Ezra Taft Benson said that the biggest problem in these latter days is pride and I think this is the biggest problem here. A meek person does not judge their fellow beings or the prophets as some do today. Pride is a thing we all need to handle in our own lives, if we don't accept that we too need to be rid of it and ask the Lord to make us meek we might too fall into this trap. Meekness is hard and the world and all the voices out there is not promoting it at all, but God constantly promps us to be meek because that is the only way to be teachable and draw nearer to Him.
In the 19th century, spelling was more of an art than a science. You wouldn't have gotten more variety if you had awarded points for creativity. Any genealogist will testify of this.
Always great and relevant presentations.......Thanks
Wonderful testimony, thanks you so much, brother 🙏🏼
