  • These are 7 tips I learned the hard way in Monster Hunter World. These are extremely basic but at the same time, I just wanted to clarify some things that are a bit different in this game. There is still a ton to know, but this will prepare you for looking ahead. This is more of a list of things you should start paying attention to early on. Hopefully this was concise and clear enough to quickly give you an idea of how this game differs in a few ways.
This is part of my Lets Play series, meant to reflect on some of the very basic things I learned when I started playing this awesome game
Hopefully this helps and clarifies some things for somebody out there

    These are my only tips:
    1. Master the weapon of your choice
    - Mastering a weapon (Like utilitizing parries, dodges and charges correctly) will help you a ton, for example foresight slash of LS
    2. Read the monster moveset.
    - First time hunters will just attack wantonly and dont think, thus they get punished heavily for it. As a veteran hunter encountering a new monster means I wont attack directly but instead I observe close and study its attacks, that way I can learn its openings.

Those are great points! Learning the weapon is everything. Ive probably picked up some really bad habits.
I also need to get much much better about your point #2, I have honestly never even once looked at that. Is that something in game or on the wiki? I often just fight a monster for a while and start to figure out what it does. Its kind of fun that way, but it takes a long time and probably isnt very effective..
That has caused me to lose alot of time. I fought ruiner nergigante recently and the entire first fight I didnt even know to attack his white parts.
      😥😥

@VonClaytonGaming No what I meant was memorizing the moveset of the monster. Yes it does get you smacked a couple of times for being greedy and not reading the situation. Track its Head/Tail/Hind Limbs after attacks, try to see where does it reposition. But usually after a couple of hunts it'll turn from: you dancing to the Monster's palm, to you making a fool out of the monster.
Dont worry about meta sets too much as I've finished Iceborne without even looking one up, we just have to be better hunters and im not even that good. Just go crazy and have fun, this game is also called fashion hunter after all.

Dont forget to make use of your surroundings too, there could be natural traps lying in the area that can ease the hunt

@@TripleCartsHunter This is a really good point! I definitely do some of that when I can for sure.
      makes the game pretty fun

IMO the only great thing about the Defender set is the ability to test out new weapons for a very cheap cost. These weapons will work until a bit after early MR. My wife loved testing the Bow, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun, without spending more materials.

@@honordevs thats a great point! I definitely used it for this purpose. I did end up using the gear and frankly it was good as a set of training wheels to learn how to play. I am not against it to the degree others are

1 big thing new players need to know is ! the gameis full of cheaters !lol honestly 90% of people modding are using cheats ! dont look online at twitch streams to compare you gear dont play with others and then think i suck at the game because very likely they where cheating! its gross and capcom needs to stop modders ! apart from this MH world is one of the best games on the market lol!

Interesting! What do you consider a not okay mod?
for example, I installed hunterpie last night
it does seem like some people have GOT to be cheating, because im a pretty high level now and Ive had some people come in and totally mop up what im fighting.. in like a few minutes
but that is great to know tbh

@@VonClaytonGaming its a deep question and for the longest time i just ignored modders as most of them just have shiny weapons etc however i have come to the conclusion that no mods are ok in a online game and the reason is the cheaters unfortunatly due to how hard it would be for a dev team to know who is just modding and who is cheating i think all mods should be ban`d ! the mods i dont like in aprticular are DPS checkers sharpness mods and inventory size increase and dps buffs ! its also really hard to tell who is cheating because as a veterabn player i would kill a early monster in a few hits really the only way to tell is if they talk about it and this in its self is bad imagine a new player is struggerling but he see`s other people just destroy and the only conclusion they can come to is they are bad at the game its unfair and not ok in a online game!

Where are those cheaters when I S.O.S for help on Alatreon, AT Velkana, and Fatalis. Could really use there help, since it takes about 10-15 runs per with random groups to get a win. Or Tempered Furious Rajang.

@@henrywes2628 well i spend most my day killing furious rajang over and over agin and yes i solo him ! i didnt say the cheaters were good infact often they are really bad players hence why they need to cheat also focusing purely on your own dps bar while using such a tool is not a good way to play MH in a group as group healing and crowd controling are also a huge part to the game! the cheaters tend to do nothing but attack then sapm question mark emotes when others start dying lol!

@@henrywes2628 I also think fatalis is just a bad fight for a MH game his model is horrible and so easy to get stuck on his stupid fat legs lol! but if you want my advice learn to solo him with the arttilery a ghilie mantel and smoke bombs soo much easier then group play!
