This is absolutely brilliant!! I have spent a lot of time trying to get it in DADGAD I'm a bit off your version but sure no harm I had to laugh at your instructions of how to play it. G F C Em etc etc Probably took you 10 minutes to figure it out, im a bit jealous Would love to hear you do Tipping her up to Nancy
Not sure how long you've been playing music but as a musician myself this was awesome dude. If you ever want to collab lmk. Hard to find good musicians to work with and keep that flame lit. Mad respect
Great job. This song harkens back to a way of life that is no longer in vogue. Back when people needed their dogs' help to live off the land and feed their families.
James Mahoney thanks mate! I’m playing in Open D5 tuning (DADADD) with a capo at 4th, then I’m playing from the 5th (9th) fret just trying to replicate the bouzouki in Daoirí Farrell’s version. But I think if you detune standard by half a step you can play it in G, D, Em etc Hope this helps!
Thank you! I don't have an album out, but I did write a song which Simon Friend played the mandolin & banjo for! ua-cam.com/video/WcyFkE0uBmE/v-deo.html
@@BillyMcKelvie Hey Billy, just had a listen to your song in that link you posted. Outstanding brother, if that was an example of your songwriting, you really need to record an album, you've definitely got the gift man.
That was fantastic! Really love the last bars, really belting it out and giving it all on the strings! So good. What tuning are you in and would you be happy to give an idea of the cord progression. I’m a crap player but I’d love to try and learn this!
Acoustic? As opposed to all those Electric versions? 😉😉 Well done making it your own style and doing it respectfully and well. This is not the Traditional Irish Folk style, but even Daoiri Farrell's famous version ( ua-cam.com/video/UPI_tHNjS78/v-deo.htmlsi=UzDcckA2rKSYvw-5 ) is an uptempo version of the original Paddy Tunney version that is quite soporific by comparison ua-cam.com/video/_vDG1uLDBEA/v-deo.htmlsi=-N9M-S6I2DkzYV8W. I got used to Farrell's version and was prodding Tunney to get on with it when I heard the original.
This is the only version I've really really enjoyed, aside from Daoiri Farrell's recording (still my gold standard). Nicely done!
Love Daoirí Farrell ...can’t get enough...this is very good too 👌
Well done sir. Not an easy one to sing!
Well done Lad
An absolutely beautiful rendition of this beautiful song! Great job man!!
Well done! My favorite song. Daoiri Farrell is the father of this child for me, but your version is just as award winning! You nailed it!
Well done Brother!
Very nice and good on you for doing it. Really nice and I can hear a punky vibe to it.
Superb version
So beautiful this mate cant get enough !!!
