- It's rumoured that there are less that 10 of these Jack Nicklaus special edition Nissan Glorias remaining in Japan. That I've found one of these luxury, 4 door hardtops is a near miracle. This double-gray, two-tone Gloria is in the best condition you could hope to see. My research tells me that it came to this part of Japan just a couple of years ago from north-eastern Japan.

Love that car. I was stationed in Tokyo throughout the 1908's and always loved the Gloria's! 5 years ago I bought 1993 Gloria. It had less than 29Kil or 18K miles. It's bone stock original and I've won 2 car shows with it. It's also my daily driver.
Absolutely love these cars... undeniably elegant yet having a discernibly sportier appearance than the standard 4 door sedan. We never got this special edition in my country, but we did get this model 430 for one model year only (1985), with all were rumoured to have been initially bought by government officials, business executives, and pilots. In my country they were badged as the Datsun 280C, same as the cheaper B-pillar'ed model, and they featured the L28 carburetor twin-spark engine with auto tranny.

Japan also had a Holden in the Mazda stable....the Mazda Road pacer....13b in a HQ Holden body. Very rare.

G'day Dan'l. Sweet looking Nissan Gloria. Beautiful condition. It's a shame that it was never sold here in the USA. I would think that if it were named in honour of American golfer, Jack Nicklaus, that it would be sold here in North America, even in limited numbers. Unfortunately, that's not so.
Yes, imagine everyone's surprise if one of these were imported to the US. It would definitely get people's attention.

Had one back in the days. With L20ET - beautifully simple engine yet somewhat powerful. Mine had a blue interior and lot of rust. No comparison to this gem. )

I like the “sharp” boxy styling of Japanese cars of this era. They just have something. And the pillarless design.. can they even make cars like that anymore? So neat

As much 4 door hardtops look cool, the doors are too flimsy for my liking. I'd feel happier in a two door hardtop.
@@wasabicars I think that's why they make them anymore, when they go upside down the roof caves in.
It's basically another version of the 260C with a different motor in it or what was called the Cedric in the U.S.
I think the 1982 version of that became the Bluebird in Australia which was fitted with the L20 engine but was later called the Maxima in the U.S. & fitted with the VG20E engine, I think a variation of that was called the Cedric as well in the U.S.
That basic shape probably became the Cefiro in Japan later on.

Thanks Daniel for showing one of my dream cars. I'm actually in love with the 1985 Y30 facelift but this is practically the same, the panoramic rear window is something i never stop watching. There's a sedan for sale here really cheap, 5 speed manual rhd converted. I'm so angry i don't have more space :'(

@@wasabicars nope, i still got the taunus, i sold the sapporo but i replaced it with the cressida. I'll lose money if i sell the ford, surprise factor is high but the resell value is too low on that car. Who knows, maybe I'll make it electric in 30 years :D

In Brazil we have only one nissan gloria, its very rare here, and its for sell, the man are just asking 15.000R$, its same about 3.000$
Not surprisingly, there's a lot of styling similarities with the R30 series. From the stainless window mouldings through to the centre console & A/C vents.

I need to see what the rear doors attach to...I suspect if you opened all four doors at once they would vanish momentarily due to some matrix glitch then reappear closed. Those taillights definitely grow on you. Back when golf was the shit eh? Now I got that Gloria song stuck in my head. Thanks Danny boy.....

I saw BUMBLE BEE TRANSFORMER MOVIE ON Wednesday! I think it's probably the best or second best of the series! Kid friendly too . Also had some older cars . Is Gloria an up level Maxima ?
Cool, I will have to check that movie out. Not sure how this Gloria lines up with the Maxima. Cars from different markets. And, even if the Maxima sheet metal was the same as a JDM car, I suspect the grade/trim levels were different. :/
That Gloria, viewed from the front driver's side to the back seems to be almost tempting you to get in and do better..

i wasnt too sure as i wasnt all that familiar with this edition, but i went trough my files and i actually found one, its rather simple, not too many mods, but the badges and even the remains of the sticker on the rear door is still vissible on it :D. but given to how popular 430 is in the boso, i think theres been more for sure...

Is that a Mirage? They don't exist in Japan. If it's a Lancer, there's a chance. But even early ones are almost impossible to find.

mine has the 4g93 turbo engine with came stock. they are basically the evo 3 wagon but never got the recognition
@@wasabicars if you could find one you should definitely review it and actually we imported from japan years ago. It was probably a vehicle built for export but there are examples still in japan
