@@Edvinaronson The main difference is that the waltz has the emphasis on the first beat of the bar, whereas a mazurka the emphasis is on the second beat. I know it when I hear it or play it but, despite over 50 years trying, I remain 'musically dyslexic', so that is about the best way I can describe it. Doesn't work well on all waltzes, but have a mess around with the beat and see what you come up with :
