Some nice looking calves! Good to see you got some corn in. Does your Dad know he's a UA-cam star?😂 Still too wet here to start planting, seems weird since we didn't have much snow. The rain this spring was much appreciated. That's funny how you described the LED lights.😂 When we got our Deere chopper, it had the full set of knives. I took every other one out because it chopped too fine, so I hope it works out for you. I've never done much with red clover other than in low spots where alfalfa wouldn't grow.🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻

Now I feel behind 🤣🤣 I had a quarter inch of rain yesterday and that mucked up putting in the new seeding some today. The sure stand seeder was balling up with dirt some til I ran over the field with the 5 bar harrow. That helped enough I could keep going.
Maybe look at adding hairy vetch with the rye in the fall..... other then that I have no good ideas. Are you going to put in some sorghum sudan again? I'm doing 6 acres for pasture and 5 or 10 for silage. I'll have to see how things work out on the stuff for silage.
    Keep the videos comming Matt😎👍🍻

Still wet here lol. I'll check out that hairy vetch. I think I'm gonna put about 8 acres of sorghum Sudan in for sure, maybe some more later in the summer if we have some thin hay fields. Thank you sir 🍻🍻

Like a crackhead that just got his government check 🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅😂😂👍👍👍 Man yeah, that is my favorite rig, the 656 on the planter!!! I could watch that all day!!! Looking fwd to seeing the corn coming up!! Sounds interesting on the clover 🤔 I bet that sharpener will do a great job now!! I can understand the the toggle switch 😉😉 Thank you Matt for bringing us along, look fwd to seeing whats next!! 👍👍👍🌽🌽🌽🌽🌾🌾🇺🇸🇺🇸😁😁🍻🍻🍻🍻

🤣🤣🤣. That tractor and planter does make a nice pair 👌. The sharpener works much better with all the knives in, but it is chopping a bit shorter than I like to see. Thanks Nelson 🍻 🍻🍻

656 looks good on the planter. Have 2 656's here. Use them all the time. 1 Hydro and 1 Gear Drive. Do you spread fertilizer before you plant? Do you top-dress N later on? The clover would definitely give you some N in the soil to go along with the rye. Would up the protein level in the silage as well. Liked the crackhead joke.

They're great tractors, we had a 656 hydro gasser a few years ago. It had a weak hydro, and the motor had a cracked block for years, but I ran a long time like that. We usually spread fertilizer before we work the ground, that's all we put on. Thanks

I've never done it with rye....I plant wheat for spring forage..gives me little more wiggle on the harvest side..... the clover at about 8 lbs allows you to go back in with ss and then winter crop again on innerseed for couple years.

What were you using to chop the round bales ? I looking for a way to feed round bales in an old worn out tie stall barn. Any ideas ? Love that IH equipment.

I used to tare the bales apart and put them in the tmr. If I was still doing all round bales, I think I would get a bale slicer for the skid steer, they also can go on the 3 point of a tractor. I've seen videos of guys cutting a round bale into 1/4's . Looks like it would work pretty slick

We've always planted red with oats in the fall. The oats holds the soil and protect the red.
Mixed with grass, should work.. as long as the ryegrass doesn't crowd it out..

I don't have any advice about Red clover in Rye but if you do it I'll be watching to see how it works. Hopefully you get nice moisture. It's pretty wet here.
