Wow that was very raw and brutally honest. I don’t think I would of shared something like this online. Being immigrants, my parents are also very similar and I’ve gotten the same, or worse feedback when I was in a similar situation when I wanted to quit and travel. Eventually I did return back to the corporate world but my parents have never supported me. I am 38 now and I still hear them saying why am I not getting married, look at my sisters or comparing me to other people, etc. I have come to accept it. You have to realize that these people grew up in a different time, had a different education, and a different view of the world. What worked for them is not what’s going to work now. I wish you best of luck on your new journey. Fortunate favors the bold .
I think the way your parents reacted is a huge generalization of how literally most asian parents think and act. As someone who is also in corporate, my parents think the exact same way. I hope you truly succeed and do well, obviously your brand does not really appeal to men but hmu if you ever launch merch 🤣 i'm on your team!
No matter how hard life gets! I hope you remember to keep going after the things that truly make you happy and to push forward knowing the outcome is far worth it! I hope for nothing but the best and hope you achieve everything you set out to do and more!
Even though we may think our parents are not on our side, in reality they are 100% on our side. A good parent who cares and loves their children, will sometimes challenge them with there decision making. Especially if its their first time venturing on there own. It's okay to get that kind of feedback from them. No need to be upset, just take it as a learning advise. It may help you question your own decision making, and help you think something through before making a decision. They will always be our parents through hardships and pain. Some will worry more and some just can't wait for their children to move out. I do wish you the best in all your future endeavors. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!❤
Asking for emotional support and validation from 1st generation Asian parents only works if you’re quitting a job to pursue medical school, law, or Ivy League ambitions. Thank you for posting this. It was very raw. Kudos to you for starting the path.
Damn! I really felt your pain and can relate as someone growing up in an Asian household. Always shitting on your dreams. You got this! One day they will open their eyes and really see you shine!
wow im in awe of how brave you are for posting such a raw and intimate moment, thank you for sharing Sandy and for inspiring people to chase their dreams
My god I can feel your frustration and hurt through the screen. I feel the same way with my family but I’m so proud of everything you’re doing for yourself. And you seem like just a sweet genuine person despite growing up in that environment !
This resonated so hard. The only way for Asian parents to finally accept and respect you chasing your dreams and passion is when you return so much more successful. But even then they probably won't admit they were limiting you... But they will be proud!!!!
Wow… thank you all so much for your kind words 🥹🥹. If there's one thing I’ve learned from posting this video, it’s that being vulnerable can attract positive energy and support, which only makes the journey stronger. So thank you from the bottom of my heart 💖💖
Always remember to spend time with your parents as much as you can. They are getting old and will only get older. Be grateful they are still around. They are from the previous generation of thinking so of course they won’t agree with this internet money thing and that’s just how it is, don’t blame them for not supporting you, they just don’t understand because they weren’t raised with the internet. Make sure they are taken care of and always visit them. I can see your mom looked upset when you said you don’t want to visit her anymore. Forgiveness and love.
What's missing is the specific definition of western parental "support" that comes from emotional coddling, but what I heard from this video is a beautiful message from your mom saying that if all fails, you will always have a home to come back to. That to me is the ultimate support, and should not be taken for granted because the western concept of "come home" is not nearly as strong as the Asian support. I see such an incredible amount of love from your parents through this video so I'm heartbroken that you can't "feel" it. But you will through time. I'm sorry because I know that you're in it during this video. It takes leaving to understand the context of what was had. Good on you to make that move. "I feel like I need to leave the nest to truly gain everything I can to support my family in bigger ways" is so profound. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Thanks for letting us into this super raw moment. I think it’s nice to see that you are able to have these convos atleast. Wishing best for you and your journey!
What I learned is that when u get older (im 35), you start to lose your energy and ambition. When this happens you start settling for whats comfortable instead of pursuing your potential. With that said, I think all young people should pursue their goals while they still have the ambition and energy to do so. The window to do so is only open in your 20s and early 30s. And the opportunity to settle with a comfortable living will always be there so you wont miss out on that if you fail.
You know I always believed that you have energy at any age. But I am also finding out there is some truth to what you are saying. I am now 38 soon to be 39. I didn’t pursue my dream and now that i have the opportunity to do, I find myself with little energy and just being too comfortable and complacent in life. I am trying to get my drive and motivation back but i don’t feel the same as I did at 25.
@dswtgs3162 if i can give you any advice, strike while the iron is hot. Your body and mind and mental energy is completely different in 20s than late 30s. You never really know this until you actually experience it
You mentioned wanting to start your own business, but did you explain your strategy to her. Have you addressed her concerns openly to alleviate her worries? It seems that the video you shared focused more on your frustration and expected her support without providing a clear understanding of your plan. She might not know how you intend to earn a living or cover your bills. Support is easier to offer when people have a clear understanding of your goals and strategies. Everyone has different experiences and perspectives, so it’s important to consider all angles rather than tuning people out or reacting emotionally. Calling home a "jail" sounds a bit extreme and hurtful, especially when many people are struggling with basic necessities and would be grateful to be in your position. At the end of the day, most would agree that whether you succeed or not, your family will be there for you unconditionally. Can you say the same about your friends? As the saying goes, "Friends may come and go, but family is forever."
You are so brave, I could never have such a convo and crying in front of them. My family had the same reaction as well and I still went ahead, it’s been 2 years now and I’m so glad I took the leap. You got this sandy!
Coming from a Taiwanese family, I know they don’t show love the same but ur mom loves u….go for it and even if it’s not as successful as u imagine it to be at least u tried….we have only one lifetime to be happy. I hope I am teaching my kids this….best of luck
This is. So raw. I didn't expect to see a video like this where a kid actually fights back against their parents, I feel like a lot of the time I just see us sit there and take it - but this is so REAL. So so very real. When I quit my first weekend job, my mum was so confused as to why and she was super angry - cut to recent day where she's just quit a similar job and she tells me she understands why I left. It's really really hard to try to ask for validation until it's presented in a way our parents can understand why we made these decisions. In your case it'll take time for them to accept this, but they will in the end
You're truly inspiring Sandy! Not only to your manager at Lululemon, but to your viewers as well. Hence an extra subscriber and I look forward to watching your future development! It is sad to see your parents - who should be your biggest supporters - reject your choice. I completely understand from their perspective as a fellow Asian. You are their beloved, precious daughter and they want you to be safe and healthy. In their eyes, a stable corporate job at Lululemon is exactly what that would provide and growing up it was probably something they dreamed of. However, you are raised within a different environment and standards that is difficult for them to understand. Give them some time to adjust and make sure your future success speaks for itself! The road to entrepreneurship can be a pretty lonely and ugly one. There will be temporary times when you feel depressed, misunderstood and even doubt yourself. But the best advice I can give you is that you are the only person responsible for your own happiness and success. If you don’t take up ownership of your own success story, no one else will. You’re young, energetic, creative, and can handle risks. If you don’t do it now, you’ll regret it at the end of your life. And what’s the worst that can happen? You fail, decide to give it up for over a year, and go back to your regular 9-5 job at Lululemon? Doesn’t sound bad at all. So go be a boss lady and kick ass!
Ahaha thank you so much for your supportive message!!! I 100% agree, my future,my choice, my responsibility, and my journey 💗 and YES literally no shame going back to corporate, who knows maybe that’s what I’ll want down the road🤷🏻♀️ definitely won’t know if I don’t explore this path first ☺️
Bloody hell this is just so real / relatable. It almost feels impossible to get respect/ support from asian parents, all the way to their dying breath. I'm glad that I've repaired my relationship somewhat to the way you speak to your mum (we used to throw shit at each other) and I am also talking about renovating her kitchen someday HAHA. This video gives me hope and I wish you all the freaking best in your YT journey! We just gotta wade through all the bullshit and show them!!
You go girl! This was a raw encounter you had with your mom and dad. They might not understand you now but in the future they will. Keep chasing your dream! I am going to buy from pearhaus to support you
Sandy I’m so proud of you. You do you and chase your dream. Fail or succeed doesn’t matter. Most important is trying. I am so touched by your courage speak up to your parents and made decision many people can’t.
this is actually so inspiring, I feel like I’ve been making and been planning to make choices that’ll make my parents happy, and not for myself. Thank you for sharing, I hope everything will go well ❤
I truly admire your bravery and vulnerability for sharing this. I also came from an Asian household where I’m very fortunate to have family who supports me. I am also a new mom and I do share a similar problem with the older generations telling me how to parent my child. I learned that I can’t blame the previous generation for telling me how to raise my child because they had a different upbringing and resources back then. Instead of fighting against it, I realized I just have to advocate for myself and stick to my core beliefs. As time goes on, you will attract more people who will understand and support you. This also includes our own family, but it comes down to understanding, knowledge, and time.
As someone who grew up and raised by asian parents who relied on employers for an income, I can see why they have their views. It's difficult to give up something stable when English isn't your first language. As a first generation asian and english speaking person, risking it all to start something of your own is the only way to break free from the reliance a company for income. It's both freeing and extremely scary. Good luck Sandy
You are so brave! It’s the most difficult to try to chase your dream when parents feel they have the absolute truth of everything in life. I respect you for standing out and going after your dreams. I hope for the best for your business! Full of prosperity boss woman!
definitely understand how you feel. Coming from a similar background and having that language barrier with the parents definitely makes it hard to get your thoughts through. It can be frustrating but I can assure you that they have your best interest in mind but just doesn't know how to communicate it to you properly. its not like Asian parent regularly talk about these types of topics so they are just not equipped to do so.
This was so real. Thank you for sharing. I believe in you girl 💖💖keep fighting and charging at it every single day!!! 🙏🙏 Your family will only understand looking back.
You did an amazing job having a deep conversation with your mom about the Chinese traditional culture that women are stay at home moms and men should be the provider. You stand your ground and really explained your point of view about women role and how you don’t need to depend on anyone but yourself. That was powerful girl ❤ The fact that your mom’s expression wasn’t sad at all seeing you cry hurts to watch. I am amazed at how well you handled your emotions while speaking to her. You cried, still laugh, and make jokes. I wouldn’t be able to have such deep conversation with the tiger mom I have. You have so much respect to tell them the truth. Deep down you knew how the outcome will be. Continue being you and go for your dream. Do what makes you happy. It is ok to be in a distance from toxic parents. Our mindset will never get through to their stubborn mind. So proud of you! I can’t stop looking at how pretty those lashes are!
Good on you for being patient with your parents. They are from different generations do your actions won't stick with them. They raised you and gave you a roof your whole life. Never forget that.
What you did was courageous, it takes a lot to be vulnerable and I mean especially that vulnerable. It shows maturity and growth, to be naked with nothing but raw emotions for the world and for your mother to see it takes a lot more than words to describe your strength. We may be different ethnicities but we share the same pain , growing up with Asian parents is a challenge. But never forget that there will always be light at the end of the tunnel. Don’t give up , we all look forward to many accomplish that you will make!
I randomly stumbled upon this video. Watching and hearing the conversation you had with your mom really hit home. The gift and curse of Taiwanese parents that want what's best for their children. I too had the same conversations with mine. I got the same reactions. Go after your dreams and make sure you smash all your goals. You got this!!!!! Taiwan forever!
Thank you for this video! I had the lack of support from my family when I quitted my job EVEN WHEN I DIDNT DEPEND ON THEM FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT!!!!!. My parents freaked out in the middle of dim sum when I told them. Asian parents don’t understand that their kids’ mental health is way more important than “doing things on the correct path”. I feel like they should be so happy that we have the respect to even tell them what’s going on in our lives. We could have kept it a secret so we wouldn’t experience the backlash.
Watching this made me really sad. I feel for you and want you to know that even though we don’t know each other. I support your dreams and goals of being a girl boss and owning your life. ❤ They don’t see the true success of their babies until you’ve paved your path for them to see. Keep pushing through. They might not support you now because it’s unknown but when you succeed and they no longer worry, they’ll be 100% behind you.
Hi Sandy, I rarely leave the comment in UA-cam but I want to share with you - After seeing this video, I can feel that you are a really tough and caring girl who want to chase your dreams and at the same time, you also give back to your family. I can also understand why some Asian parents they react like this since they used to live in a hard generation where they feel being stable is safe and stable income js important. But i believe that your mom and dad they will love you in whatever way - either you are successful or not. You are still the best gift for them. I wish you all the best with your new decision and bright future!
Lot's of respect for you and your family after this. I could never imagine my family and I laughing and brushing off many of the things said here - it's a completely different dynamic that I haven't really witnessed. Thanks for the perspective
Sandy. You are brave, strong, secure for a young woman. To go after your dreams in tough economic times like this is really ballsy. To not have your parents support you really sucks. Coming from an asian millennial myself, I'm proud of you and want to see your dream come true. I'm rooting for you. Go after it!
in another world, I can see this convo happening with my mom as well. or it already happened when I decided to move to the other end of the world. thanks for bringing this video to us and wish u all the best.❤
The vision is bigger than what our asian parents can see but just wait until you find success and then they will understand you had to do it this way. You're going to do great, keep working hard, keep working smart, and there will be no doubt this was the right move all along
It was a hard video to watch, you have the talent, ability and ambition to create something of your own, not everyone can do that. Theres no going back I'm proud of you! As a parent of course they will think that and be worried for you, but at the end of the day, they worked hard and created a good life so you don't have to struggle. Best of luck! And it's awesome that you have experience and respect in the cooperate world, and you can always fall back on when you feel like it.
You made me tear up 😭😭😭 I can wholeheartedly relate to your experience of quitting a traditional job to pursue something different and not getting emotional support from our Asian immigrant parents. You handled the situation so gracefully. Thank you for being so courageous to go after your dreams and letting your parents know even though they can't fully understand your journey.
All I know is, I know how you feel. So bad. But your moms face was so heartbreaking I couldn’t keep watching coz I felt like it was my mom. All I know is time heals. You’ll grow and see things completely new. All of you. It only gets like this when the love is hard.
Being Asian myself, I could relate to the emotions you were probably feeling when you told your family about you quitting and how you felt so unsupported given their reactions and words. My dad is also someone who would never approve nor emotionally support me, or even try to be there during the various achievements I had back in school. I’m thankful that my mum is someone who is more open, but it definitely still hurts to know that you don’t have full support. Nonetheless I hope you continue to thrive in your life because it is, after all, for yourself and your future ❤
Your boss' words from the last video was very touching 🥺 I would say the news was very sudden for your parents so they probs need more time to process but I'm sure they'll eventually accept and support your dreams 😊
I can relate with you, but also with your mother. It's not really wrong what she thinks. Our parents had to give up everything in Asia to get better life for us. They know how it is without money, being poor. We never had to experience this. It took them a lot of effort and surviving skills to have money. If we have a good job, they ofcourse can't understand how you can let go of this comfort they had to fight for... and we just let it go for our dreams.
idk how this video popped up on my recommended screen, but glad it did. Takes a lot of courage to quit your job and pursue your dream so tons of respect there, immigrant parents lived a different life than us so I know it's hard and frankly annoying to continually be understanding as an adult but remember that they love you, are worried, and won't be around that much longer. Wasn't a fan at how you came at your parents like that especially considering how they took care of you and knowing they didn't have the same opportunities we do and kind of had to live the life that made sense at their time. I'm sure your dad would love to be rich too and your mom not to be stuck at home so i think empathy is really important in life. With that said, i hope you make it and are able to prove your parents wrong (in a nice way by taking care of them with all your new riches)!!
i’m experiencing your same situation, i live in a filipino/mexican household. i got big dreams of going far but my parents always want me settled for less. and laugh when i tell them my plans for going farther then them. hopefully we both go far in this once in a life time opportunity 🙏🏽
It's always really hard telling our traditional asian parents what your truely passionate about. I lingered for many years trying to pursue what I thought would be the right profession to make my parents proud, the right person to marry, etc. My immigrant parents also coming from TW brought me here for what they consider to have more opportunities, and in many ways I probably disappointed them a little bit, but ultimately they were still proud of me and supported me in the way that they know how. I think sometimes its accepting that it's not that they don't support us, but it isn't always the way want them to. I've known many people leaving the corporate, law and healthcare fields the last couple years that have gone to pursue what they were really passionate about. Doing what you need to do for your emotional and mental health is more important than anything else. Best wishes to your future endeavors. There may be bumps along the way but, jia yo. And yes we look forward to the kitchen renovation.
You got this! I too am chasing my dreams and I will quit to pour my time and soul into my dreams! I feel like oftentimes we forget about our dreams because big companies wave a big check in front of us and we come to just accept that. We all have dreams to chase because dreams are not given! BUT we all got this and YOU got this too! I'm excited to see the result and I know for a fact it's going be a good one too! You got my Sub and support! :)
I admire your courage to step out and pursue your dreams as an entrepreneur. Quite 9-to-5 job, so I have great respect for the path you’ve chosen. You deserve the success you’re achieving, and I want to remind you that the freedom you have to chase your dreams is built on the tremendous efforts of your parents. As a first-generation immigrant, it’s incredibly challenging to find stability in a new country, and you should be proud of your culture and heritage. I know you appreciate it, but it’s worth reflecting even more on what your parents have done for you. Their love and the environment they created for you are priceless, and I’m sure they care more about your safety, health, and well-being than anything else. They may not be the richest, but the foundation they’ve provided is invaluable.
First time commenting. Thanks for sharing your story, I'm sure a lot of your viewers can relate as well. Taking this step to pursue your dream and building your own life is so brave and admirable, and I know your parents are just speaking the way they are it's coming from a place of concern as they don't want to see you struggle and just want you to follow the typical career path as they see that as 'success'. I'm also in my 20s, and I think we are living in a different generation to our parents, where these days we are truly blessed to have the opportunity now to take that risk and put that energy to invest in ourselves. All the best, you got this!
I can kinda see both perspectives. What they're saying is out of love but gosh, It kills me that they can't offer an ounce of support. This reminded me of my own parents. I thought your name was familiar, then I confirmed that I already follow you on Instagram lol. Good luck with your journey
Hi sandy that’s really how it is, it’s sad but how it is, everyone close to you will tell you that it’s risky and you won’t make it and don’t believe you, but as long as you believe yourself that’s all that matters because at the end of the day it’s your life and in my personal experience I thrive better on hate than love because I’m a petty person and will try to prove them all wrong. When you make it they’ll all say congrats we knew you can do it, you’re rich, blah blah but always take the highway road
U should have the fire to pursue your dreams, whilst settting realistic timelines (like what your mum said). At the same time, don't let this drive push you to endless pursuit of wealth and material. Balance is key. All the best!
the fact that you are who you are today despite all these shutdowns and ridicule already is a success on its own. As the cantomando squad said i hope 6months to a year from now you will come back with a video and renovate that kitchen to prove a point!
I have a resonation with you beacause my mom had the same reaction with your mom when I quitted a decesent job they think last time. And you are brave to explain to them. I even think I dont any chance to explain to them.
Asian parents will always be this way. It's sad but they have some standard for always having a job becoming a doctor etc. Business is not something that is on their mind. Our generation is also so different with all the technology and oppurtunity we have with the internet. Good luck in your journey you got this. I'm also first generation American purusing business instead of going the coroporate or doctor route.
I'm actually with your mom on this... At least have a backup Job already lined up or Do what your Mom said and work on both until you're actually setup with your own business. Finding a Job in this Economy and with everyone struggling is very difficult right now and to just give up a job that paid well and made your parents proud that you were successful all because of "YOLO" I'd be pretty pissed too! Although, Now is too late to change anything soo... We're all about to find out and see
@@vivianc1157 her eyelash business aint earning her nowhere close to 6 figs tho if we're being real. And in this economy it's hard to those types of businesses to thrive
It felt like I was replaying the scenes from my past when I watched this video. From coming out as gay to moving halfway across the world to Vancouver, and starting a business with my partner, those are all things my parents probably did not expect. It’s hard for them to accept it because we now live in such a different world, and they will never understand that. But that’s not to say we don’t love or respect them, sometimes all we need is encouragement from our own family to tell us that we can do it and it’ll be alright because we are amazing but guess Asian parents will never give us that. Thank you for showing us this raw moment in your life. Making a big decision like this is never easy but if you don’t ever give a chance to yourself to try something that you know may work, you may live to regret it when you’re older. Cheering you on fellow small business owner!
Facttts!!! Thank you for your kinds words and for sharing your story… means a lot to hear this 🩷🩷🩷 dm your business! Would love to check out and support when I’m in van 😊😊
Dear Sandy, thank you for sharing your journey with us. I think that it is very admirable of you to set forth and pursue your business, and your determination on this path is very obvious. I have no doubt that you will work hard to achieve your goals and I hope that the support that you are getting from this community spurs you on. Not sure if this will offer you much since the conversation with your parents have already occurred, but from what I've seen just from this video, I wonder if your parents truly understand what your business is about and what you are pursuing.. I was trying to see it from their point of view and it seemed very unclear based on what you had told them. Do they know what your business plan actually is? It may help them understand what "support you" means because I get the sense that they have a very loose understanding currently. You mentioned that you're going to pursue your dreams but didnt explain what the specifics are (ie growing Pearhaus, mentioning how it is actually doing quite well as you previously said, and any other revenue streams that you're considering). It might just help them see it in a better view because I feel like them "not supporting you" was partly their lack of understanding from not having any details of your plan. Truthfully, I think that the language barrier prevented you from explaining things well. Don't self sabotage by saying "so you don't support me then"! Be direct and tell them that you plan to grow this business into something that will allow you to provide for your family and you want their encouragement to help you work towards this specific goal! Good luck 🍀
This is so Asian. But just remember, when we have the money and are older, we see the truth more and more again in the way of our Asian parents. Best of luck in the journey!
Really brave of you and I wish you luck. Btw what language was your mom speaking? I heard a mix of mando plus something else? Thanks and hope you're doing well!
Good luck on your ventures Sandy but I am ngl, you're pretty disrespectful to your parents. Regardless of the financial situation at home, they did their best to raise you and bring you up, I think they didn't deserve some of the things you said to them.
I don’t disagree, but it’s an honest aspect of my tough loving family that you can’t relate to. If you watch to the end you would understand the reason of my life-changing decision is for them.
@@sdy.cheeks I did watch the whole video and the impression I got was that you were concerned that they couldn't secure a bright future for you so you had to take matters into your own hands. While I don't doubt that you would provide for them should your business become a success, the decision was ultimately centred around you. My point is, there is no problem putting yourself first. However, it was not necessary to berate your parents as well as your brother the way you did, especially when your mum barely said anything negative in regards to you quitting your job, she was just concerned and worried about the loss of stability for you.
eeeekkk....ok here we gooo - give me your best words of encouragements ❤
God is always with you in the Almighty name of Yehweh, amen
It’s tough love 🤷🏻♀️
Thank uuu
Can't wait for Sandy renovates mom's kitchen video
Damn, that was raw as hell. Very impressive that you are okay with showing yourself this vulnerable. Very inspiring :)
Damn! I really felt your pain and can relate as someone growing up in an Asian household. Always shitting on your dreams. You got this! One day they will open their eyes and really see you shine!
Thank uu🥹🥹 #sandywillrenovatekitchen
@@sdy.cheeks They’ll do a 180 and say they always encouraged you when you become successful 😂
wow im in awe of how brave you are for posting such a raw and intimate moment, thank you for sharing Sandy and for inspiring people to chase their dreams
I knowwwww 😭😭it’s all tough love 🩷
Forgiveness and love.
i felt this convo/argument down to the core....asian parents are so hard to communicate with
good job sandy and all the best with the new adventure
Wishing you the best of luck girl
I am trying to get my drive and motivation back but i don’t feel the same as I did at 25.
interesting to hear as a young man with ambition
@dswtgs3162 if i can give you any advice, strike while the iron is hot. Your body and mind and mental energy is completely different in 20s than late 30s. You never really know this until you actually experience it
As an Asian, to be able to tell your parents this -is HUGE!! Continue to be strong! 😊
sandy making a whole ass A24 Film
nahhhh this got it AZN
As an outsider I know things get emotional sometimes but your parents are getting older these words can hurt more watch what you say to them
you have no clue what it's like being asian
You are so brave, I could never have such a convo and crying in front of them. My family had the same reaction as well and I still went ahead, it’s been 2 years now and I’m so glad I took the leap. You got this sandy!
Thank you so much! I honestly would rather not cry in front of my parents either but I’m just really bad at holding back my tears 😅
I am going to buy from pearhaus to support you
🥹🥹 thank u so much!!💗💗
Sandy I’m so proud of you. You do you and chase your dream. Fail or succeed doesn’t matter. Most important is trying. I am so touched by your courage speak up to your parents and made decision many people can’t.
thank you!!!! Fail or succeed,it’s about the journey !!💗💗
You’re super brave girl do what ur instincts tell you to do❤❤ you got this
Thank u🥹🥹💗
ive been a silent watcher for awhile now i love you keep going and you r loved❤❤
this is actually so inspiring, I feel like I’ve been making and been planning to make choices that’ll make my parents happy, and not for myself.
Thank uu🥹🥹
Wishing you success Sandy!
You are so brave! It’s the most difficult to try to chase your dream when parents feel they have the absolute truth of everything in life. I respect you for standing out and going after your dreams. I hope for the best for your business! Full of prosperity boss woman!
I know it’s tough, they’re just trying to protect us 💖 thank uu
definitely understand how you feel.
Thank you so much!!💗💗💗
Damn that got me. We love you Sandy!! Supporting you all the way! 🫶🏼
Thank you for posting this Sandy, this is really inspiring!
I can't hold back my tears.
🥹🥹🥹😭💗
I randomly stumbled upon this video. Watching and hearing the conversation you had with your mom really hit home. The gift and curse of Taiwanese parents that want what's best for their children. I too had the same conversations with mine. I got the same reactions. Go after your dreams and make sure you smash all your goals. You got this!!!!! Taiwan forever!
I enjoyed how raw this was, don't forgot you're only living for yourself so go pursue your dreams...
Thanks for sharing! Cheering you on from afar… Supporting your journey and manifesting growth 💛 your video got me 🥹🥹
girl i can relate to you 😭 i hope you success and got all the money to renovate your parents house😭😭
Sandy. You are brave, strong, secure for a young woman. To go after your dreams in tough economic times like this is really ballsy. To not have your parents support you really sucks. Coming from an asian millennial myself, I'm proud of you and want to see your dream come true. I'm rooting for you. Go after it!
major kudos to you for staying strong and sticking it to your parents to chase your dreams in an Asian household! You got this girl!
in another world, I can see this convo happening with my mom as well. or it already happened when I decided to move to the other end of the world. thanks for bringing this video to us and wish u all the best.❤
Thank u for your kind words 🥹🥹🥹💖😭
You made me tear up 😭😭😭 I can wholeheartedly relate to your experience of quitting a traditional job to pursue something different and not getting emotional support from our Asian immigrant parents. You handled the situation so gracefully. Thank you for being so courageous to go after your dreams and letting your parents know even though they can't fully understand your journey.
All I know is, I know how you feel. So bad.
But your moms face was so heartbreaking I couldn’t keep watching coz I felt like it was my mom.
All I know is time heals. You’ll grow and see things completely new.
All of you.
It only gets like this when the love is hard.
i have never found a video more relatable than this. wishing you all the best sandy
That’s 100% my goal. It’s tough love with my family but I agree with you.
Thank you 🫡
i’m experiencing your same situation, i live in a filipino/mexican household. i got big dreams of going far but my parents always want me settled for less. and laugh when i tell them my plans for going farther then them. hopefully we both go far in this once in a life time opportunity 🙏🏽
🥹🥹 THANK UUUU
Thanks for posting this realistic and raw video 💜 best of luck Sandy!!
🥹🥹 I hear you on this - thank youuuuu
First time commenting. Thanks for sharing your story, I'm sure a lot of your viewers can relate as well. Taking this step to pursue your dream and building your own life is so brave and admirable, and I know your parents are just speaking the way they are it's coming from a place of concern as they don't want to see you struggle and just want you to follow the typical career path as they see that as 'success'. I'm also in my 20s, and I think we are living in a different generation to our parents, where these days we are truly blessed to have the opportunity now to take that risk and put that energy to invest in ourselves. All the best, you got this!
"Keep your big goals away from small minds." - Law of Thinking on X
You got this, girl!
🤣 🥹🩷💗 ty!
This was so inspiring. LFG GIRL 🎉
Watching this video was so triggering. Made me feel so anxious and unsettled. I relate so much
U should have the fire to pursue your dreams, whilst settting realistic timelines (like what your mum said).
Yes!! Thank uuu!! #sandywillrenovatekitchen 🤣
I have a resonation with you beacause my mom had the same reaction with your mom when I quitted a decesent job they think last time. And you are brave to explain to them. I even think I dont any chance to explain to them.
This was so real 🥹
Let's gooo!!!
Can’t wait for this new journey 😩
Asian parents will always be this way. It's sad but they have some standard for always having a job becoming a doctor etc. Business is not something that is on their mind. Our generation is also so different with all the technology and oppurtunity we have with the internet. Good luck in your journey you got this. I'm also first generation American purusing business instead of going the coroporate or doctor route.
That actually didn’t sound that horrible…nothing was thrown and there was still some laughter
We're all about to find out and see
She is already set up with her business though
@@vivianc1157 her eyelash business aint earning her nowhere close to 6 figs tho if we're being real. And in this economy it's hard to those types of businesses to thrive
Oooff… you don’t know that anddd I wont be giving up anytime soon, so thanks for your words of encouragement 😊
Would love to check out and support when I’m in van 😊😊
you are a BeaSt - you go girl!!! fan boy #1
LA will be happy to receive you with open arms and milk tea
That was really brave of you
Dear Sandy, thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Good luck 🍀
Wow! you got ballz.... respect! Best of luck
You can do this you doing wonderful job .I have same parents attitude and not supportive. It tough but you had face u fear
EXCITED
Lol 2:08, because YOLO😂 congrats on quitting!
i love you, you'll be fine
This is so Asian. But just remember, when we have the money and are older, we see the truth more and more again in the way of our Asian parents. Best of luck in the journey!
awww love you sandy
Once you're ready to give your mom that dream kitchen renovation, let me know I have a good contractor in Vancouver! So proud of you!
Deal!
Really brave of you and I wish you luck. Btw what language was your mom speaking? I heard a mix of mando plus something else? Thanks and hope you're doing well!
Wish you the best ❤
Support!
#teammom she had some bad takes but in general she won that argument imo
Best actress goes to Sandy! wooooo
