    I like this opener for the price. With backup battery? Wow. Hard to beat. My problem was wire management from the sensors. Looks like you routed yours through the attic and back down to the opener. My 12 ft Florida ceiling makes this difficulties there is little room in the attic space for crawling around.
    Think Genie should work on some way to handle the sensor wires better.

    Just put one of these in, replacing my almost 40 year old craftsman chain system. It’s super quiet!
    Did it myself in about 4 hours. All you need is simple tools and a couple of step ladders.

    Just purchased 2 of these, (7055 1 1/4 HP DC motor with battery backup) and replaced my two 20 yr old 1/2 HP Craftsman. There GREAT! Rolling codes so it works with My Q app to open and close from anywhere in the world.

    That is amazingly quiet. I recommend nylon rollers, and maybe some lube on the hinges/tracks.

    You should replace your rollers with duralift nylon rollers, it'll eliminate almost all the sound

    You can go to Home Depot and get some Garage Door Lubricant to quiet it down

    My friend has a Model 7055 and indeed it is very quiet. However, she called today and said the door starts up when the wall button is pushed but stops after going up 6 inches. Hitting the button again returns it downward to close position. I came over and if I block the red sensor I can get the door to open some, and when I repeat the push it opens a little more until repeated pushes results in fully open door. I unblock the red sensor and hit the wall button and the door closes all the way down. Any ideas?

      Possible spring tension on the door. I think there is a setting for how much force the opener will use before stopping for safety. You may be able to adjust that.

    Look up the linear LDCO800. Literary the quietest opener ever

    I here a whining noise, is that coming from the motor or belt? Kinda like a gear whine. I got the same reinforced door.

      The opener is almost silent, just a little bit of noise. Most of what you’re hearing is the rollers on the door.

    This came with the house i moved into and noticed the lights werent working.. previous owners never changed the damn bulbs which is what I suspected so I just swapped em out. Got tired of comin in via the garage and having it dark
    This is pretty quiet now that I think about it.

    You need some graphite spray on the rollers that will quiet them right down

    2 questions: 1. Did you make a video of you switching over from the chain to belt drive? 2. Are there bedrooms above your garage?

  • @feiwong70

    Is this unit easy to replace as DIY or you recommend to hire/buy from a garage door company? You must be a very handy man to install it yourself. My current one with chain belt is super loud. I have a room above the garage and it rumbles entire room every time someone opens the garage door.

    • @IAmAFixer
      @IAmAFixer  2 роки тому +1

      It took me 1-2 hours to install. I used some of the existing mounting brackets. Hard for me to say. Read the directions and see what you think.

  • @PainterD54
    @PainterD54 2 роки тому

    Your old opener needed to be properly lubricated and also the door needed some attention. They should go 30 years with proper maintenance. Hear that squeel and scraping noise when the door opens? That's what ruined your last opener and will start to wear out your new one if it's not addressed.

    Took you a lot more than an hour to put it up and you know it.

    • @IAmAFixer
      @IAmAFixer  7 місяців тому +1

      Want to bet? Pulled the old one down and put the new one up by myself. Just cause you’re not handy enough to do it in an hour doesn’t mean others can’t. I would guess most could do it in an hour. Less with help.
