'The Colour Of Spring' is good, 'Laughing Stock' is great, but from beginning to end 'Spirit Of Eden' is perfection, their absolute masterpiece.
Thanks for Watching!
The general consensus amongst Talk Talk fanatics has 'Laughing Stock' as their crowning achievement. I belong to that group, but know so many people that go with 'Spirit Of Eden'. Both albums are breathtaking in their beauty, and yet i believe their finest moment is a non album flipside. In case you hadn't already guessed, i'm referring to the wondrous 'It's Getting Late In The Evening', a piece of music that was nothing less than a spiritual experience! God bless. 🦜 🐬 😊
Haven't listened to that album, will definitely check it out
The Colour of Spring is one of the most underrated albums in rock history. Living In Another World is a driving powerhouse of a track. Wonderful.
They are just fantastic! Thanks Andy!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics in addition, they produced two extraordinary follow ups. Spirit of Eden is a sublime masterpiece.👍🏻👍🏻
Yes there albums show up in our album draft series. We picked them high.
Love this album. So atmospheric and emotional underpinned with driving based and drums.
They are just tremendous!
Astonishing song from an amazing band , Hollis writes such poetic and beautiful lyrics. Amazing production. And what about that harmonica solo towards the end. Oh great you're playing The Rainbow too, Spirit of eden is a fantastic album too. The Colour of spring and Spirit of eden are two of the main reasons i cant give up smoking "Jazz cigarettes".
haha love that story. SInce this we have listened to their albums, such an underrated artist. FANTASTIC stuff! Thanks for watching Sam!
The three things about the last two TT albums are 1/ the religious sensibilities of lyrics 2/ the abstract way it was made and 3/ the use of silence
Need to check them out for sure. Thanks Chris!
laughing stock could possible be the blueprint of the entire genre of triphop!....epic
Interesting take. Thanks Mark!
Almost Liked before watching/listening, as Talk Talk, that most wonderful of bands that shunned fame & money for their art...seem so unknown. As ever...you know/find this great stuff & great, honest reactions. Please keep it going.
Thanks PC always appreciate it!
Thank you Pete! Talk Talk are a favorite of mine, Colour of Spring is my favorite LP/CD.
Spirit of Eden & Laughing Stock are great as well, but so different. I refer to them as my
"headphone music". Guys please listen to the whole of Colour of Spring, it is just so good!
Glad you like it! I love Colour of Spring and I have just discovered the beauty of Spirit of Eden in the last few months. The music is different but this is great record as well!
Thanks for checking it out, great point about headphone music for sure!
that scraping sound in the intro to the rainbow is the sound of tea being stirred
ahh ok, thanks for the insight!
The harmonica player did mostly Country.😊😊
Thanks for Watching!
I'd love to see your reaction to a couple of tracks by The Blue Nile. Maybe Headlights on The Parade, Tinseltown In The Rain, I Would Never or Tomorrow Morning for example?
Really appreciate the suggestions and thanks for watching Andy!
I'm thrilled that people are finally discovering Talk Talk for reactions. The Color of Spring album was more organic sounding than their earlier albums, and Spirit of Eden was far ahead of its time. I consider it one the best albums ever.
I applaud you digging into it! Desire is probably my favorite song on the album.
They appear in some of our album drafts, just fantastic deep stuff! Thanks John!
Agree on Desire. Haunting.
"The rainbow / Eden / Desire" MUST be listened together
ok
Haven't heard this is in so long. Some great harmonies in this song.
For sure!
Spirit of Eden is one of my all time favorite albums. Each time I listen to it I can't figure out what my favorite track is. It's always the one I'm currently listening to.
That is the highest praise possible! Listened to that album for our album draft series and LOVED it!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Awesome! Where is that? I couldn't find it.
Here is the 1988 one. There is a playlist that every one so far, we started at 1965 and will be up to 1994 next week. Thanks ua-cam.com/video/WcjFLuqHtvs/v-deo.html
When confronted with such beauty, how does one have a favourite? 🦋
The last song “Wealth” on Spirit of Eden is unforgettable...
Will check it out! Thanks!
Anything Talk Talk is a winner!
Thanks for Watching!
I find the progression talk talk made from 82-90 as pretty special. Risking losing fans fame and money in the process, yet fearless to do what they wanted and what felt right... Might be a bit of a stretch, but similar in some ways to the beatles 62-70 period of evolution
They are so underrated! Thanks!
You guys play some of the more obscure and interesting music on UA-cam! Glad to be a subscriber! Best to everyone!
We do, it is thanks to our community and what they bring, so much great music out there to discover. Thanks for the sub Jason!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics And thank you for always being so nice and cool. You guys are always there for everyone!
Great how you guys get to know the bands and there history, line ups, etc.
Super appreciate it, always want to respect the artist!
You should watch Talk Talk "Living In Another World" Live, Salamanca, Spain 9/10/86. (Watching the harmonica player is a trip) I don' listen to the Spirit of Eden album (Too progressive for me).
I will check that out for sure. They are brilliant. Thanks!
These two songs are absolutely phenomenal. But The Rainbow thought is my clear winner, that and After the Blood are their two masterpieces.
Thanks Chal!
After the Flood. And, yes, it is a stellar piece of work.
great song battle.. The live version of Living in Another World from 1986 is absolutely stunning. Check it here: ua-cam.com/video/Hop1tb-DR_k/v-deo.html
(That entire concert is on youtube if you have an hour and half to be stunned)
Will check it out for sure. Appreciate it!
Great stuff. If it wasn’t for the vocals, you would never know it was the same band. For change of direction this drastic you have to look at the Beatles,Bowie and possibly xtc. I love it when artists take risks. Not sure record companies do though 😁
haha nope record companies want formula and then we all lose! Thanks AS!
Mark Hollis voice can be up or down..
Ye tone deaf..
Jesus...
Be blessed Keith
The The - THis is the night,Angel of deception,Slow emotion replay etc.
Actually have some The The coming up next month. A battle of Kingdom of Rain vs Lonely Planet. Thanks!
Shawn and Trey, I have never heard of Talk Talk, but on your facts you research they were formed in 1981, a British band. The first song has a lot of musical instruments and gives the music a full sound. I agree Shawn, production and arrangement stands out. I agree Trey on the interplay of organ and synth and guitars and also harmonica. The song moves at a steady pace. Well said on the comments. The second song has a unique vibe, especially as an album opener. You are right Trey about being meditative and the instrumentation is the highlight. I agree Shawn it sounds abstract. Trumpet, organ, distorted guitars, a lot of music packed into the song. Very good analogy Shawn on a life lesson that human interaction, first thing we say and last thing we say, just like in music, the album opener and closer express a lot about an album. Really good comments and insights by both you guys. You both chose the first song as the winner of this battle. I agree, the first song is the winner, but the second song is a unique listening experience. Very interesting contrasts in these songs Pete.
Thanks Poet, these guys were different for sure!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Yes I agree Shawn, they have a unique sound in their music.
Fantastic reaction guys! Thank you!
Thanks for bringing it Pete, was about time we had some Talk Talk!
