Great knowledge again. 2 things that pushed me towards the Mevo + were 1) delivery time was 1/2 of the Skytrak (6 weeks vs. 12 weeks) and I am left handed and others that I will want to invite to play with are right handed. I didn't want to go through the hassle of switching the unit from side to side.
I got my skytrak in about 6 1/2 weeks when I was told it would be 12 weeks and this was just a couple months ago. So if anyone is concerned about delivery time as a significant issue don’t steer away from skytrak just for that reason.
@@markevans1476 I agree everyone is trying to not to overpromise which is smart but my partner has been delivering both units fast and sometimes even has stock depending on location.
LOVE your channel man! I’m so pumped to get my Mevo+ now because of you! I just wanted to let you know that I only have a 15ft space run in my soon to be sim room. I was worried about that with the Mevo+ and contacted flightscope (they answer FAST!) I asked them if I could create a pocket to set the Mevo in because I was worried that the 15ft space wouldn’t be enough, thinking about kicking the bottom part of the wall out 3 feet to give me 8ft to ball + 10ft to screen because I’m worried about higher ball speeds off driver not reading accurately. They assured me that they have solved that problem and 16 total feet is ALL that is needed for any ball speed to read accurately. Wanted to update you there in case you didn’t know that. So for my sim they said I could creat the pocket 12-16” to set the Mevo in and it would work great.
I appreciate you sharing your conversation but I am sharing feedback from current customers and situations. Environments can definitely be unique so I guess it really just depends. Will be interesting to see if you get a tip perform correctly with what you were going to have set up. Feel free to come in here and share your experience. Thanks for watching
One big thing for me is that I believe Mevo+ directly reads club head speed vs SkyTrack computing it based on ball speed. So for someone working on club head speed drills, I think Mevo+ has a big advantage - especially as doing speed drills usually means sub-optimal strikes at the start which SkyTrack will translate to lower club head speeds. I don't own either (yet) so let me know if that's incorrect.
That is a solid point you make, Ted! It was so tough to cover every detail so I am glad you are sharing that. It provides the data but doing so with calculation vs measuring. I have done comparisons and the club speed seems pretty solid on SkyTrak but will do some more videos with other units like eye xo etc. soon! I do not know where Mevo+ is reading the club, pr or post impact so tough to say, sounds like a good video, fat shot testing!! :) Thanks for watching and commenting!
that is true but ball speed is king ! Meaning that a correct struck ball will have higher speed . If you swing the club faster but miss the sweet spot of the club the ball speed will tell you that. In todays training session the ball speed of 3 well struck I7 were on avg 5 km/h higher (177 km/h) than 2 other shots (one 3.7°L only 161 km/h; one 1.7°R 172)
@@stevevinck4452 Obviously. But if I'm doing drills to increase club head speed, I want to directly measure that. I don't care how I'm striking it at the beginning - I care if the training is working to increase speed. Converting that into a good strike comes after that.
I have 2 friends that are left handed that I wanted to be able to play rounds of golf with me. That knocked Skytrac out of consideration. I couldn’t be any happier with my Mevo +. If you have the room, I believe Mevo+ is by far the best choice.
I understand that 16 feet is minimum required area. But do you see a decrease in accuracy if you're hitting with those room dimensions? (8 ft to screen, 8 ft unit to ball)..
No. The 16 feet is “ideal”. The producer of this actual video that I posted to has his Mevo + 7 ft behind his ball hitting position. Since his seems to work without issue I would say 15 ft in total would be minimal distance needed only because that’s the shortest distance I’ve actually seen where everything works. I use 8 ft behind the ball and 10 ft to my screen just because I have plenty of room.
My friend and I both own SkyTrak. Overall very happy but we have both found that SkyTrak struggles with reading full 60-degree wedge shots. Something I thought worth mentioning, especially if you are planning on playing “serious” sim rounds.
That is awesome!! It really has been a crazy ride that is for sure. I appreciate you being such a dedicated subscriber! Every view, like, comment, etc. all helps and it is greatly appreciated.
I’ve had my Mevo+ for about 5 months. Overall, it’s okay. Outdoors, it’s a beast. Misses do occur but not enough for it to be a major issue. Out of 20 shots, 1 or two will be weird. The unit will tell you it carried 105 yds but in actuality it traveled only 50. Indoors? The unit doesn’t fare as well, at least in my experience. I have plenty of distance behind and in front for flight, but I’m sure other factors like the lighting (LED) and other things interfere with the radar. Out of 20 shots, I may get 3 to actually read. And because of that, I don’t trust the yardages. As stated, environmental factors are key. So I will be purchasing a SkyTrax specifically for my indoor setup and leaving the Mevo+ for the range. Good review.
Top guy I'm buying a lm this week but I was confused on subscriptions Jay kindly emailed me back and clarified everything. I'm leaning toward mevo plus but have found a facility to try them both out tomorrow. Appreciate the channel
I have had a SkyTrak now for just under 2 years , indoor home use only and it has been great as a home simulator. Unfortunately, it had to be sent back to repair faulty right hand side laser trigger. Had to send it back to USA for repair at my cost $70 AUD postage plus $210 USD repair and postage cost back o Australia. Just thought I’d add this information for potential SkyTrak buyers.
Thanks for watching. Sorry to hear you had that issue. As Australia probably does not have many OEM headquarters that always could be a challenge for the region but nice to know.
I've had some of the same issues but I must mention, Flightscope has been amazing at helping me fine tune my environment and data reading. Very responsive customer service and constantly updating the software to help with more accuracy. They have been great to work with.
I've owned both and actually compared them together and the carry/overall distances were almost identical (I don't really track the other data). Due to this, I ended up keeping the Mevo + due to what's offered out of the box for playability.
I just need the carry an overall distance, and clubface angle at impact.. can you tell which one is better for outdoor and indoor use also do need the software, or can I do without it.
Set my Mevo+ up in the garage and works super well aside from putting on E6 connect. I think its because of the surface being slightly uneven. I just wish TGC 2019 wasn't $950! Great video!
I certainly like the mevo+ as far as a launch monitor not so much for simulation. Radar based units seems to always struggle with short shots & putting. I believe Full Swing golf is also coming out with a launch monitor in a few months. Supposedly it has radar & camera so maybe the best of both worlds. Whatever it is I'm sure you will give us a thorough review!
I bought a mevo+ through one of Jay’s contacts and can highly recommend. I had to clean up my garage quite a lot but it’s amazing. I can play anywhere in the world, every day, and I do! Also tested it versus a GC Quad and numbers were very accurate, all data was except the launch angle seemed to come out lower on the Mevo....
@@benfraser4392 yeah i get the right distance matching with what is says on my friends Quad. eg. Driver swing speed is around 105, current Iaunch and spin too high at about 17 degrees and 3600rpm off an 8 degree Ping G410 ( yes, i need another fitting!). This is giving me a carry of c250 yards.
Sky track actually has a setup tool to align to your target also a level indicator for plum so no extra tools needed that comes with the game improvement. Not partial to either I have and operate both system. Great video BTW
Yeah I forgot about that as I was focused on the Mevo+ built in camera for aligning, my bad for leaving that out for sure. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
This video gets me excited to buy the FS unit haha will depend on my next house's attached garage space... will need to figure out the mats needed and budget. I think, from the several videos I watched including this one, I might end up with a cost less than 8K CAD. Not bad..
I just sold my SkyTrak (thanks to covid for what I paid) and bought a Mevo plus. I think SkyTrak is probably better if you want to really play a simulator with a large hitting area. I just want to hit into a net and get an idea of my shots though, basically driving range practice at home and I found the alignment issue to pretty much be a deal breaker. The big problem was that I'm hitting off a fiberbuilt practice deck which has a small hitting and standing area. Switching clubs means relocating the SkyTrak to properly mark the ball which was a real pain. With Mevo it just sits back there so I can move the ball around the hitting area with no problem. It's also reassuring to not have it sitting in front of the ball just inches away as someone terrible like myself can easily ding the SkyTrak (the protective metal cage is a must). I also like that the mevo has text to speech to read out your shots.
Very fair review. Maybe i could add that if you want to test balls to find the one that suits you the best, a radar based device recording a full flight on the course is necessary . because the drag is invisible to the camera or to the radar. The magnus effect formula used by the simulator uses only the spin and the speed of the ball at launch and assumes that all the balls flight the same way. At least with the mevo+ you can record the flight itself.
I've owned both. I upgraded from the SkyTrak to the Mevo+. Both are good units and how you use them should determine which one you purchase. The Mevo+ provides more data, has a much better setup (7-8 ft behind golfer), includes free simulation courses and works flawlessly outdoors. SkyTrak sets up at ball position and a duffed shot can hit it. The laser ball alignment dot is barely visible outdoors. Indoors the SkyTrak does not require the ball stickers that the Mevo+ requires. IMO my upgrade from SkyTrak to Mevo+ was the best decision for my use.
Great video! All the work I did for months researching, trying to figure out what was right for my situation you just covered in 16 min! You confirmed all my findings! Please keep those Mevo Plus videos coming!
That is awesome to hear, Todd! I could have gone on for 45 minutes I am sure but tried to get the most important factors packed into a realistic time for everyone :) Thank you for watching!
@@GolfSimulatorVideos I do have one question. I was able to work on my setup and I can have either 9ft ball to screen/8 foot ball to mevo plus, or 10 feet ball to screen/7 feet ball to mevo plus. Any ideas or word from flightscope on what would work better? Thanks and please keep up the great work!
@@toddpope1193 Todd I have this exact same gap situation. I would love to know your outcome. I have a sky track now and it works well but not for lefty/right and I have that issue in our house.
Very informative video! I'm looking at my first simulator and you answeredd many of my questions. I see Flightscope just announced the Mevo+ Pro package that adds a lot more data (horizontal and vertical swing plane, face to path and target and more) for a one time $1K purchase. Would love to see a video on what you think about the Pro package.
If I didn't purposely click on this video knowing what info I was looking for I would swear that dude here looks like he's about to drop the wrestling promo of the year. Great video!
You know it’s funny, I thought it did and second guessed it when bringing up the camera alignment. Didn’t want to screw up a 20min uncut video!! Thanks for sharing that, Ivan. Cheers!
Genius ball will be here by mid summer. I know it's kinda against ya m8, but people should really save until then. I've tried their demo ball and it's gonna change everything about golf and how we gather analytics.
Two questions about fs. 1. As it is a radar Reading the Ball flight.. wont the outdoor weather have an impact on the Reading? Say when you want to find out ur carry’s, it should be done with no Wind and some amount of temperature etc. Else the Reading will be un relieable??? Or like of the skill app, hot a 50 yd shot, u Got Wind into ur face on the driving range, u might not hit 50yd like u did Yesterday cos the outside conditions will impact the Reading? 2: is there settings to invironment like Wind etc, bagmapping?
You can do a few things when using it outdoor. You can use it in Indoor mode. where it reads the ball for min of 12ft or you can use Outdoor mode with local weather and environmental conditions in the FS Golf APP.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos im sorry but i dont Think that i fully understand.. Im comparing it to skytrack, skytrack dosent take in outside conditions as it’s pictures of the hit.. How can the mevo do that when ur on the range if it’s “min 12ft” that to me sounds like it Reads the Ball all the Way intil it lands? For it to understand ur carry’s, can u set it up with Reading no Wind, 20 degrees, humidity etc etc and then it dosent take in the outside conditions??
Ok. I have a room setup that can go from 8ft to 10ft ball to screen. From ball to back wall is 9ft. I know that Mevo+ had an update since this video, and perhaps SkyTrak did as well. I am not interested in taking one to the outdoor range, I just want one indoors that provides the most accurate data possible with my limited space, and captures the majority of my shots and putts. As of today's versions - and my environment - which would you recommend?
Great summary Jay - might be worth mentioning that even with E6 additional courses, you have to go through Skytrak - which at this time do not allow you to purchase Pebble Beach etc...
Yeah I said all software must go through them so hope that covered it. I was unaware SkyTrak would not let you purchase Pebble Beach? I will look into that for sure. Thanks for watching, Paul!
Watched your video. Was planning to buy a mevo+ as I may want to take it to the range and I liked the easy set up and versatility for switching between left and right handed golfers, but after watching your video, I am reconsidering. I am putting this in my garage. I have the space, but interference may be an issue… this is in Florida and there are a lot of devices in the garage… metal garage doors and tracks, garage door openers, electrical panel, tankless hot water heater with navilink Wi-Fi enabled device to control hot water loop. I am also planning to get a mini-split air conditioner unit in the future. Are there ways to block the interference or do you think I should just go with the Skytrak? Thanks
I know you said both may have misses which is fine. My question is the accuracy of PW through Driver for carry distance, total distance and path for each?
This was so helpful. Thank you! One question I can’t seem to find info for - you talk about “dirty environments” for Mevo+. I’m looking to build my simulator in a metal pole barn. Would the screen and some felt side curtains, etc clean the environment up enough? Or does the radar penetrate those materials enough that the metal walls likely still present an issue?
IF.... I chose the Mevo+. I am 99% confident that my 56 or 60 degree wedge is going to sky my hitting net. Will the Mevo+ still read the shot if I put a net for the top part? Thanks for all you do!
I have my simulator room all set up. I need a launch monitor, projector and computer. I definitely want to play GSpro . Which way do i go ? Do i have to bite the bullet and go with the bushnell or can i go cheaper?
Really nice review, the environment part confirm my choice of the Skytrack as I don't have the required space for the Mevo + , I have a question about the $100 yearly fee for the skytrack, is it to enable E6 or other software ? the range functionality is available without fee ?
So you can get the basic range with SkyTrak without the $100 year. That add on gets you more features in the SkyTrak software like Bag Mapping etc. then also enables the ability to work with various 3rd party software like e6, TGC, etc. Shoot me an email and I can get you more details. a98cr125@gmail.com Thanks for watching!
I'm building a home simulator in a shed haven't heard much about the mevo+. But skytrak numbers are very close to trakman within a yard. Plus the game improvement package is meant to be quality.
Hoping to pick up a mevo+ in the next year. Your channel provides the best info in my opinion. I like that it works so well outdoors, which is how I plan to use it most. Indoor simulation I will add into my next house.
I appreciate those kind words, Trey! I have done an outdoor video and will try to more soon (It is winter here) Email me when you are ready to purchase :)
My home isn’t optimal for an at home simulator setup (no spare room, garage, or outdoor space). However, my local course and grass driving range has remained open throughout the pandemic and will likely continue to. That said, I’d ideally like to be able to use a launch monitor with simulator software that is compatible with iOS so I can both see data on my phone as well as simulate course play from the driving range. Which unit and software would be best to accomplish this?
Have the sky track for a year now. Yardage is way off on 7 iron and up. Wedges is dead on. Shot shapes seem to be very exaggerated. 50% of the time my shot doesn't register. The laser dot is very annoying as well.
Very pleased with the all these information s id like to know if the mevo reed the angle of attack and if i can buy it as soon as possible Thank you very much!!!
hi there. i am contemplating a home gold Sim setup for training a fun playing courses with my mates.i need help deciding on skytrak, flightscope mevo+ or Foresight GC3? GC3 is expensive, but the new foresight sim software looks awesome. what has slightly put me off Skytrak is the lag you mention? it would drive me nuts i think if a few mates were paying. do you have a video of it? i also have questions about which software is best for home fun playing courses.
I really like the Mevo Plus and would love to use this on the range, but I don't have the room in my garage. The Skytrak would be better for me indoors due to space. I know the Skytrak has been out for a while, how have they been with software updates? Has that gotten better since this video? Asking as a beginning golfer and really want to use the stats to get better. Thanks in advance and this is a great video!!
SkyTrak has been solid based on my testing as you can see in the videos. However it really is not that useful outdoors. It needs to be out of the sunlight and also tough to see the laser dot on turf and can't really be used on grass as it's a single dot after a divot would need to be moved.
Great info Jay , Launch monitors are a little complex but you covered the differences from skytrak to mevo+ really well. My mevo + is on order looking foward to receiving it.
Currently have a skytrak and bought the 2019 TGC package. If I buy a flighscope, can I still use the TGC package on it? I’d hate to be out of $900. Great video! Thanks!
Both devices are reading the actual characteristics of the ball including speed and spin. So even though they will both read them it won't be as accurate as a real golf ball especially at faster speeds
Based on my testing the both hold a decent tolerance for their price points. Both have a margin of error as expected in their price point but over all the carry, spin, etc. seem pretty good to me for their space.
Awesome video! When you say Mevo+ comes with the free iOS version of E6, is that the iPad version? could that version be used on a mac/apple computer? Does that version also include the E6 courses or just the range?
It is iOS not OS X, app based vs software. I know some people talked about using emulators but I have not tried it. It works with iPhone and iPad as I have demonstrated in the Channel. The free iOS included package has 5 courses included. Thanks for watching!
Great video! You mention a battery power brick for Mevo. What is an approved power bank that will not void any warranties? Looks like they only suggest using factory cable and power supply?
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Thanks for the quick response. I just ordered and there was a $4 off coupon. Think the total with tax was $13. Thanks again, Patrick
Go with a mophie powerstation. They are the only portable battery that dont catch fire. The cheap ones on amazon are not safe to fly with and not airline approved. Mophie batteries are legit and will charge anything safely. I use with my skytrack and its perfect!
@@littlejohn6694 I have had that one above for working on 2 years now and no issues at all. It is actually the one that Flightscope uses and has excellent reviews.
For short indoor mode, yes. If you want to to measure past 12 feet you can use indoor mode. The minimum for sure indoor recommended by OEM is a feet unit to ball and 8 feet ball to screen
Very informative as I have been going back and fourth, but not ready to make a perm decision until the house is done being built in this terrible time to build a house lol
How well does the SkyTrak do for higher ball speeds (180mph+ ball speed)? I will be using it exclusively indoors in a semi-dark environment and I just want to make sure it is the correct choice. Not trying to sound like a hunk but I do not want to drop $2000+ on a system that I cannot hit drivers and woods on.
I have personally not tested with ball speeds that high. Lighting does not matter it does not need excessive light. I know that some people have reported that really highball speeds can have occasional misses some people placed the ball a little behind the dot. Thanks for watching
Awesome, great video. I am going to check your videos, but does one system seem more accurate than the other? Or is the major difference in accuracy the environment? I have the regular Mevo for at the range, looking for an indoor simulator and it is sounding like the skytrac Mets my needs better (would be in a garage or metal building, fluorescent lights, etc) seems the only downside is having to pay the extra $100 a year.
Great video. Thanks for the information. One question does the Mevo Plus have to be sitting at ground level. My Room depth is about 15.5 feet and then I have a short concrete wall, say 2 feet and the room goes back another 7 feet. Can the Mevo plus be placed two feet above ground level?
great video, I know you said 8ft from ball to screen, I have 7ft from ball to screen and I have the 8ft back of ball. Would it still work or I would see a lot bad readings? Thanks
Most have been going Mevo+ if you have the space due to free iOS E6 and easy right left handed play, along with minimal shot delay. But it just depends if you have any other preferences. Both sell very well and are a good value.
That is great to hear!! I get the question so often, I thought it was going to help get a lot of questions answered. I am sure there will be many more but hopefully we can get those addressed in the comments! Thanks for watching!
I am thinking about buying the Real Swing 300, one of those ball on a swinging / rotating arm so I can practice indoors. This device has a 1 ft adjustable arm so I can use a variety of clubs. Everytime you hit the attached ball, the arm rotates. Which device would you recommend?
After the new mevo plus update right now would you by the mevo plus or the skytrak for a budget build simulator? I'm a serious golfer and am pretty sure the mevo would suit my needs more. Would just love to hear your thoughts on it.. and also more mevo plus videos would be great! Thanks
I think it still stands the same as it has, both are a great value in their space. Mevo+ continues to be popular if you have the right space with enough room, no interference, and smooth roll for putting. SkyTrak continues to dominate the small space environment and allows putting with only a few feet of roll. Mevo+ comes with Free E6 and no annual Game Improvement plan so this adds value to most people. Keep in mind this is a lot of personal preference, including if you plan on using it outdoor and with Right and Left handed players, Mevo+ also stands apart as the clear winner in both of those areas of importance.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos thanks for the reply. If the skytrak came out with an updated unit that didn't have the delay I could be more inclined to get it.. I just don't think I can live with the delay 😂. I will be using my garage so I have around 17 feet of room so just enough for the short distance mevo plus 🤞
@@JLagGOLF yeah delay is definitely a factor for some. Others like it as they hit into a net and have time to look over at their TV to see the full shot.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos I’m already in Discord and that response seems to be the “party line “ for answers. Not that is a bad thing. I just ordered my SkyTrak yesterday with the basic plan and when it was mentioned that you had to upgrade to use software, that confused me since I thought you only needed the basic plan. I was just looking for a quick answer either yes or no.
@@Mac47F Not even really sure what you are asking. I have never used gspro with skytrak so I would rather leave those questions to those that can help. Everything is on discord.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos at the 4:30 mark on the review there was a specific comment that you must pay for an additional upgrade to use other software. My question was simple I thought. But I didn’t realize that you weren’t talking about GSPro when that statement was made. In other words there was conflicting information that I was looking for clarification on. And I was just wanted to confirm that SkyTrak used for GSPro you only need the basic plan.
Thanks for the video. Did I understand that the logo has to face the sky track and some metal piece for flightscope? That seems to be very cumbersome. I just want to put the ball and swing without worrying about how to setup the ball. Maybe these are not the units I'm looking for. Would you suggest something else? I am trying to setup a simulation inside of my church vacant area so I can give lesson. Also can you provide the full list of items I need? Thanks
Yes that is correct on both. You would have to step up to a much higher price point of something like Foresight GC2 or GCQUAD. Email me for details. a98cr125@gmail.com
The great thing about Australia is they both come with a 3-5 year warranty. Maybe not official but our consumer protection regularly makes high end electronics companies stick to it.
Frustrating because neither unit is ideal for my plans. I’m looking at getting the spornia spg-7 hitting net to mostly use outdoors with my iPhone 12 Pro Max on tripod. Haven’t verified but looks to me you need to be closer than 8 feet to hit balls into this net even outdoors. So although no problem getting 8 feet or more unit to ball, I think ball to net distance will be shorter. However, I don’t like the sky track because of the 100 dollar/year subscription fee and sunlight interference. Love the mevo plus but don’t want to put a metal dot on my ball hitting short distances into a net...ugh! Pulling my hair out here trying to decide what to do...
I would look into a situation where you can get that 8-10ft of flight outside for Mevo+ if you can't do the SkyTrak solution. Maybe a simple catch net above for higher launching balls?
Great video - very informative and useful. Thx. Is there a sim category that sits between these and the top-end (e.g GCQuad or GC2+HMT and Trackman) in price and functionality? Cheers
Great video, thanks ! Can you please tell me how WIDE is the area in which the Mevo+ is able to detect the ball ? This will allow me to estimate which minimum room width allow left and right had play without having to move the Mevo unit. Thanks !
Currently own a skytrak unit and love it. The only issue is my buddies/group is pretty much 50/50 split between righties and lefties. I'm looking at getting the mevo plus but my room only meets the minimum requirements for the mevo plus (8 feet to screen, 8 feet unit to ball). Would you still recommend the Mevo plus if I can only meet the minimum 16 feet required? Thanks!
I think the bare minimum can be tough. Just depends on faster ball speeds and if you are getting a real true 8ft of flight. I prefer 7ft unit to ball and 10ft ball flight. Just what works well for me. Thanks for watching
How much side clearance do you think is needed to avoid interference with the mevo+? My garage is pretty big has a lot of stuff on the sides including a fridge and water heater
I didn’t like skytrak. It would constantly miss shots at higher swing speeds, and the simulation software was an extra charge. The free simulation was awful. It was pretty accurate with irons, but woods and driver was not useful at all. Spend money on lessons and range time and it will be much more beneficial. I am curious about the Mevo because it would be nice to see numbers if I’m practicing at home into a net.
Will an appliance like a fridge effect the Mevo+ if it is behind the the unit? Meaning the Mevo+ will be aimed away from the fridge but it also will be very close to it.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos OK. Thanks for the great review and reply. I will reach out to them and if I go with it, I will report back it's performance in my situation.
Do I have to place the ball on the hitting mat EXACTLY in the same place with both units? It seems like with Mevo+ ball placement can be in the general mat hitting area whereas Skytrak you have to place the ball exactly where the laser is shining - is this accurate as at the moment this is a presumption of mine based upon different videos I’ve watched. I have a hitting mat with various tees setup in line of target path which means Mevo+ would be the better option as I would have to move the Skytrak about?
That was a bullet point I meant to put down! So with SkyTrak the ball needs to be right on the laser dot and with Mevo+ you have a larger hitting area. You can check out the setup image from Flightscope for better reference. I appreciate you pointing that out. Thanks for watching.
I’ll be setting my simulator up in one half of my double garage. I’m only working with 10’ of width which means righties and lefties are going to have to swing left/right of center so we won’t be directly aligned with the unit. Is that problematic with either unit? Which is better?
I wasn't clear on whether the Skytrak could be plugged into an auxiliary battery bank or into the wall. On another note, is there any simulator that works with a the new PS5?
Yes you can run a USB cable to the PC or A/C plug along with there are plenty of battery banks that can be used. No launch monitors generally all connect to PC or iOS/Android devices. No consoles. But many do connect to the TGC 2019 PC version through a ProTee interface they created. It is unique software to them you can't use the actual TGC 2019 version.
And then another question, does the software that we can get with these units include full golf courses where you can play online against people or play against each other live at the simulator?
Just because it’s in an actual outdoor setting it’s still all about distance. If 12’ or less than short indoor with the dot. Generally you can go much less unless you have a really tall net for high ball flights. Thanks for watching
If I use the mevo+ in my garage....I have garage door opener units which are Wifi connected. Does anyone have experience as to whether these can interfere with the data/radar collection?
So nobody can really answer this questions with confidence. The reason is each environment is so unique and even each device like you are talking about is unique. Now saying that, I have yet to heard anyone say that a garage door opener wifi was causing any interference so I think you are going to be fine. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I will have a narrow room for skytrak….I know I can offset my aim on the E6 range but does this also translate somehow onto the actual courses you can play?
is the florescent light interference from the type of light emitted or the noise from the ballast? My over size garage has 20 florescent fixtures. Will I need to turn them off and use an alternate source or shield the light from hitting the face of the Mevo +?
Can you get good numbers indoor if you dont use metallic stickers? I mean if you have plenty of room between ball and net? Like 35-50 feet? This is really big deal for me if i buy mevo plus. Winter time we have large hall to use for training but i cannot use stickers because there is other players hitting same net with hundreds of balls
I’ve used a friends sky trak And it seemed unable to read that you took a swing. Super annoying to redo shots all the time. Is the mevo better from that aspect?
you talk about a dirty room with mevo my setup is in a shed with a steel roller door, would that interfere with mevo as I am looking to upgrade to one.
Been wondering if the distance "unit to ball" on the Skytrack is super specific. I've seen vids and read a lot of stuff where ideal distance set up is 12" unit to laser dot. But have also seen/read a lot of people saying having the unit sit a bit higher than the mat height gives better readings (meaning the distance is no longer 12" unit to ball/red dot).. Can anyone confirm? Or even give feedback on this topic? Just trying to rule out all possible trouble shooting before I make my decision. Great Video, and thanks in advance to any replies. =)

@@brandon1025 many are using them in garages and I’ve heard of no issues. It seems to be heavy steel beams, fans, refrigerators
@@GolfSimulatorVideos ok thanks alot.
Thanks foe watching, Mike!
Thank you for this comment. I was concerned with this same issue. I am happy to hear you clarified the distance ball to Mevo+ and ball to screen
This is the best review you can get on youtube!
Well that is pretty awesome to hear!! Thanks for watching!
I have been pretty successful on those, but have had a few misses. Thanks for watching and commenting.
On another note, I subscribed to you in the first lockdown think you had about few hundred. Channel grown so much in a short time. Good work.

Issues we’ve had with our Mevo + include sometimes not reading short chips and putts, also occasional disconnects from Wifi otherwise great
Thanks for watching and sharing.
I've had some of the same issues but I must mention, Flightscope has been amazing at helping me fine tune my environment and data reading. Very responsive customer service and constantly updating the software to help with more accuracy. They have been great to work with.
@@ThePrideCycle That’s good to hear. Always nice when OEMs have good customer service.
This video was very helpful in determining which simulator to purchase. I ended up getting the Mevo+ and am very happy with it.
Great to hear, Neal. Thanks for sharing!
I've owned both and actually compared them together and the carry/overall distances were almost identical (I don't really track the other data). Due to this, I ended up keeping the Mevo + due to what's offered out of the box for playability.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Jason!
Thanks for sharing, Jeremy. Having a smooth and level surface is definitely a necessity for putting. I appreciate you watching 👍
I have the mevo+. - was worth every penny upgrading to TGC2019 - where else can you play every top course in the world? (Yes everything is on there)
@@matthays2776 Nice! Great to hear and appreciate you sharing, Matt. Thanks for watching!!
I am talking to them about it already 👍
With the new updates on both devices it might be time to do this review again.
Yes, and even more coming so I will be sure to do an updated video once things have settled down. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I really appreciate the kinds words, Matt! Also for watching and commenting! That is all great to hear!! Cheers, Jay
Even when using the longer clubs like driver and 3 wood? As I have heard that it can throw out some numbers which are 15-20yards shorter?
@@benfraser4392 it’s all about setup. I have just over 10ft and get proper driver distance. My good drives are 265-275
@@benfraser4392 yeah i get the right distance matching with what is says on my friends Quad. eg. Driver swing speed is around 105, current Iaunch and spin too high at about 17 degrees and 3600rpm off an 8 degree Ping G410 ( yes, i need another fitting!). This is giving me a carry of c250 yards.
@@matthays2776 thanks mate.. I will now purchase one myself. Have you used it outside yet?

Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for watching and commenting
I definitely agree both good units that hold solid value
I am deciding on the two now for indoor use only. Which one would you choose?
Great video! All the work I did for months researching, trying to figure out what was right for my situation you just covered in 16 min! You confirmed all my findings! Please keep those Mevo Plus videos coming!

Genius ball will be here by mid summer. I know it's kinda against ya m8, but people should really save until then. I've tried their demo ball and it's gonna change everything about golf and how we gather analytics.
Which one better shows ball flight path on screen. Fade, draw, arc etc
I also believe that software purchased from Skytrack are subject to skytrack allowing you to transfer software if you change launch monitors.
@@alphawolf008 Yeah for sure. I am pretty sure any software is subject to transfer fee's etc. Probably why many sell with software included.

I know a lot of people who said it has been working fine for them they just did not put the screen up close to the metal or sides.
IF.... I chose the Mevo+. I am 99% confident that my 56 or 60 degree wedge is going to sky my hitting net. Will the Mevo+ still read the shot if I put a net for the top part? Thanks for all you do!
Yes. It’s reading the ball. Nothing to do with if it hits the screen. Thanks for watching
Very good review. I've been considering buying a launch monitor for awhile but I find the cost about $1000 more in Canada.
Exchange and import can impact prices. I do have partners in Canada. Feel free to email me.
Same here I want one for my place in Toronto and can't find them anywhere under $2600
I have my simulator room all set up.
If you’re indoors don’t even think about mevo+....I own both and skytrak DESTROYS mevo+ indoors
Thanks for the very informative video! Can u advise re 1' Mevo+ adding a pro pkg for ~ $1000? and 2/ how this would compare to Garmin R10? Thanks.
Mevo+ pro package is nice. It is reading the data not calculating so you are going to see a higher level of accuracy.

hi there. i am contemplating a home gold Sim setup for training a fun playing courses with my mates.i need help deciding on skytrak, flightscope mevo+ or Foresight GC3? GC3 is expensive, but the new foresight sim software looks awesome. what has slightly put me off Skytrak is the lag you mention? it would drive me nuts i think if a few mates were paying. do you have a video of it? i also have questions about which software is best for home fun playing courses.
You’ve made my decision so much easier. Thank you.
Great to hear! You're welcome 🍻
Skytrak has been bought out. I wonder it will continue to be sold?
Great info Jay , Launch monitors are a little complex but you covered the differences from skytrak to mevo+ really well. My mevo + is on order looking foward to receiving it.
Nice. Congrats and thanks for watching.
Currently have a skytrak and bought the 2019 TGC package. If I buy a flighscope, can I still use the TGC package on it? I’d hate to be out of $900. Great video! Thanks!

it is very helpful to see this video.
I am wondering if both devices support sponge golf balls?
Both devices are reading the actual characteristics of the ball including speed and spin. So even though they will both read them it won't be as accurate as a real golf ball especially at faster speeds
Great review, thank you. What about accuracy? Is one unit more accurate than the other, compared to Trackman for example?

Is total distance for the mevo 20 feet? 8 feet ball to unit and 12 feet ball to screen? Or do you gain more by adding more flight distance indoors?
For short indoor mode, yes. If you want to to measure past 12 feet you can use indoor mode. The minimum for sure indoor recommended by OEM is a feet unit to ball and 8 feet ball to screen
If you were only going to be using these for indoors only in a garage which would be the best. Just worried about shanking into skytrak?
If you email me we can discuss your space etc. Way too much to comment about. a98cr125@gmail.com
Very informative as I have been going back and fourth, but not ready to make a perm decision until the house is done being built in this terrible time to build a house lol
Thanks for watching.
So I have a net that I use only outdoors. 12 feet of space is not a problem. Which one would you recommend?
How well does the SkyTrak do for higher ball speeds (180mph+ ball speed)? I will be using it exclusively indoors in a semi-dark environment and I just want to make sure it is the correct choice. Not trying to sound like a hunk but I do not want to drop $2000+ on a system that I cannot hit drivers and woods on.
I have personally not tested with ball speeds that high. Lighting does not matter it does not need excessive light. I know that some people have reported that really highball speeds can have occasional misses some people placed the ball a little behind the dot. Thanks for watching
Good comparison. Very fair and helpful
When both are setup properly they perform similar. Yes SkyTrak downsides can be the $100 and shot delay.
Great video. Thanks for the information. One question does the Mevo Plus have to be sitting at ground level. My Room depth is about 15.5 feet and then I have a short concrete wall, say 2 feet and the room goes back another 7 feet. Can the Mevo plus be placed two feet above ground level?
It needs to be level to the ball position. Check out my everything you should know video for details. ua-cam.com/video/mMlAqpmJ7zo/v-deo.html
great video, I know you said 8ft from ball to screen, I have 7ft from ball to screen and I have the 8ft back of ball. Would it still work or I would see a lot bad readings? Thanks
That would not for Mevo+, you would want to go SkyTrak. Email me and I can explain and provide more info. Email: a98cr125@gmail.com
So if space isn't a problem - which one would you choose?
Most have been going Mevo+ if you have the space due to free iOS E6 and easy right left handed play, along with minimal shot delay. But it just depends if you have any other preferences. Both sell very well and are a good value.
I think if you wanted to take the mevo+ out to the range it would work great also so thats a plus for mevo+ IMO
In my opinion the mevo plus is hands-down the best

I am thinking about buying the Real Swing 300, one of those ball on a swinging / rotating arm so I can practice indoors. This device has a 1 ft adjustable arm so I can use a variety of clubs. Everytime you hit the attached ball, the arm rotates. Which device would you recommend?
Responded to your email. Thanks for watching
So do you need the upgrade on SkyTrak to run GSPro…you mentioned it for other software is why I ask.
GsPro is not an official connection for SktTrak, Visit the discord to learn more. discord.gg/fhJwEz7Z
@@Mac47F gspro is not a supported software. I’m referring to supported software like TGC, e6 etc.
How does the flight scope do with range balls? Does it make a difference?
It lets you select the ball type, range, premium etc.
That’s an amazing warranty! Thanks for watching
Thanks again for a very informative video! Maybe you could do a similar comparison between ES Tour Plus and Sky trak and or mevo plus?
I’m not longer using Es Tour. You can email me for information on why. a98cr125@gmail.com
Cheers
Yes, units like Uneekor. I have them covered in the channel. Thanks for watching
Great video, thanks !
Can you please tell me how WIDE is the area in which the Mevo+ is able to detect the ball ? This will allow me to estimate which minimum room width allow left and right had play without having to move the Mevo unit. Thanks !
Check out my everything you should know Mevo+ video. You will see the setup chart that shows that info for better understanding. Thanks for watching
as a lefty i feel like im stuck to the mevo plus so i can actually have people over to play
With possible interference items like that I would think 8ft plus. But it is almost impossible to say as each environment can be unique.
It's possible but tough to say for certain. It's usually what is on the side or out front.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos OK. Thanks for the great review and reply. I will reach out to them and if I go with it, I will report back it's performance in my situation.
Could you do a video please comparing quad vs gc2 and hmt?
I was looking at adding a GC2 unit to the studio but just have not done that yet. Thanks
@@GolfSimulatorVideos awesome, thanks for clarifying! P.S. Great content 👍🏼
If I use the mevo plus outside and hitting into a net, is there a minimum recommended distance for ball flight?
Would be great if you could do a Skytrak to uneekor/quad comparison on spin axis
I’ll see what I can do.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos cool thanks
Hi, I will have a narrow room for skytrak….I know I can offset my aim on the E6 range but does this also translate somehow onto the actual courses you can play?
Works the same way. It's off set on the view of the shots. Thanks for watching
is the florescent light interference from the type of light emitted or the noise from the ballast? My over size garage has 20 florescent fixtures. Will I need to turn them off and use an alternate source or shield the light from hitting the face of the Mevo +?
I assume the ballast "hum" but I'm not 💯 certain. If you turn them off it's ok.
So you don't even count Omni track to being in the same level I take it ?, as far as the accuracy that these two units have?
Can you get good numbers indoor if you dont use metallic stickers? I mean if you have plenty of room between ball and net? Like 35-50 feet? This is really big deal for me if i buy mevo plus. Winter time we have large hall to use for training but i cannot use stickers because there is other players hitting same net with hundreds of balls
Yes you sure can. That is what indoor mode is for vs short indoor. Made for exactly what you are trying to do. Thanks for watching
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Thanks for the fast answer. Going to email you now ;)
I’ve used a friends sky trak And it seemed unable to read that you took a swing.
I think they might be talking inch or so higher not really changing the distance at really then.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Thank you for the quick reply. Keep up the great work
Thanks, great video! Can you play with 2 players on the same virtual course (ex matchplay) on the SkyTrak / Mevo+ ?
It's just depends the software. TGC and E6 allow easy p2p play. Thanks for watching 🍻
