Service dogs must be on leash. There are several situations where the dog doesn't have to be, like if the dog goes in and surveys a room before taking the person in. A service dog must be specially trained to help with a specific task.

FYI, there is no "registration" for service dogs. Anybody who tries to sell you a registration for a service dog is scamming you. They are protected by the ADA and are allowed anywhere you are. Also, they are not required to wear the vest for anything else to identify them as such.
As somebody who works in a store, the law needs to catch up. Yes, they should have some sort of certificate or identification because if somebody wants to lie, there's nothing we as store employees can do about it

The lady throwing wine bottles is someone that you wouldn't want to approach in that situation as an employee or owner. Get your phone out and call 911, and then start recording if another employee hasn't already done so. Do not assume that the cameras in the store is recording everything. FYI, there is no "registration" for service dogs. Anybody who tries to sell you a registration for a service dog is scamming you. They are protected by the ADA and are allowed anywhere you are. Also, they are not required to wear the vest for anything else to identify them as such.
Dog vests can be ordered on line without any paperwork.
@@kingjames1586 They can be sure but they are not required is the point.
As somebody who works in a store, the law needs to catch up. Yes, they should have some sort of certificate or identification because if somebody wants to lie, there's nothing we as store employees can do about it
Yea what makes the difference from a service dog "Protected by ADA" from some regular dog. How is it proven in a court if there is no form of identification in the event of an incident.
@@daniel-nw5iq as he said they do not have to be identified. So paperwork is identified

Thanks for another video bro 😎👊
Good for you big dog, that’s the best message and advice ever.
The lady throwing wine bottles is someone that you wouldn't want to approach in that situation as an employee or owner. Get your phone out and call 911, and then start recording if another employee hasn't already done so. Do not assume that the cameras in the store is recording everything. Ask them once to stop and leave, and don't speak to them again if they keep going. Let the cops deal with her and not put yourself in harm or legal jeopardy over alcohol when you got insurance (you better have insurance).

If I was a store owner in that situation, I'd still focus on making the sale!
"Sir, I have a no pets policy and your pets don't have the proper tags to prove to me that they're actual service dogs, but if you make a list of the items you'd like to purchase, I'll personally shop for you. I just need you to wait with your pets outside my store because it is a liability."
Nope, because then you are completely excusing the behavior as normal or acceptable, wrong thing to do, losing one sale isn't going to bankrupt the man, relax.
There are no such thing as tags
@@felixbuttonnose9050so you must be one of those mentally ill people that need a dog to go everywhere with them in public just so they can function so sad...
That owner is probably fed up with people doin random crap like that. We had someone come into my store on a motor scooter and claimed he needed it cuz he was handicapped…. It was the type of scooter you ride standing up lol. People are full of crappppp
Great video brother. Funny as heck.
If the business ask if your dog is a service dog and you say yes legally there is nothing the business can do. You do not have to show any paper work.
The guy totally disrespected the store owner
@edwardjohnson3547 it does not matter, the guy with the dogs has the law on his side. There is nothing the business owner can do. If he kicks the guy out he can be sued for discrimination.
@@anthonyware4033you must be one of these mentally ill people that need a dog to go with them everywhere to function in society so sad...
Why are you assuming the dogs are actually service animals 🤔
@nnnjh8372 I guess you never heard of the American ls with Disabilities Act? If you refuse service to someone with a disability you can and will be sued for discrimination for not allowing someone with a disability. Next time know what you are talking about before you open your mouth and look foolish. I'm sure you will make a good jailhouse lawyer.
I do believe that these folks just watched THE VIEW. too many times. It's a known fact that you lose brain cells watching the View.
Its illegal to demand paperwork for service animals since it doesng exist. Also they dont need to be vested or leashed as long as theyre under control which those 2 dogs were not.
This is the first knowledgeable thing I've seen here.
@@madatu it's so frustrating seeing all these people arguing with me when I have 2 highly trained service animals. They're a tandem team. I know those dogs were not service dogs but to spread misinformation and say service dogs need paperwork and need to be leashed just urks me.

It’s ILLEGAL to ask for Service dog paperwork / documentation….
And that's how people can take full advantage.
Dumb law. Should be revised.
the owner has the right to refuse service to anyone .. and I've never heard of somebody having two service dogs
I swear some people go to Walmarts just to start a fight with the first person they lock eyes with.
Like they're not even there to shop. 😄
It's illegal to ask someone to provide papers showing their dog is a service animal... Look up ADA service dog questions. I work at a hotel and have to deal with this daily.
Thank you for being well informed and willing to correct others. I travel and stay in hotels with my service dog. She is not a "out in public dog with a vest" but for when i sleep, and its disturbing when people assume she isnt a service dog, because she lacks a vest. She doesnt go to the store, she doesnt go to restaurants, or to les scwab, but she does enter hotels and there is no reason for her to be in a vest ever. I live very secluded in the mountains, and shes never been on a leash. I dont need my back or shoulder pulled out of place because someone says she needs to be restrained on a leash.
I very much appreciate hotel employees like you, thanks again for speaking facts.

in many cases the dogs have to go with you. Perhaps he wasn't in a car. Also, people freak out about dogs left in the car due to heat. Not saying these apply here, but just that it's not completely simple
Calm down on the service dog discrimination, ok. Upon finally getting to that clip, I stand corrected, those are just street mutts. Forgive my conclusion jumping, I should have known it was a ratchety civilian trying to be entitled and disrespecting a foreign store owner. ✌️

False. There are service agencies, see groups like Vet Dogs, 🦮 or Paws for Purple Hearts.
Here in the Ozarks, folks walk into stores with their dogs all the time. Heck, the Sheriff's bloodhound strolls into the local Dollar General by himself. The automatic doors open. The dog walks in and plops on the cool tile floor tiles to enjoy the AC and greet customers. Folks here are the best people.

I have a service dog and she'll stop and sit as soon as I stop walking, I never have to speak to her because she knows hand signals and responds to how many times I snap my fingers, she also has a secret word that's in a different language that I can say and she'll rip a person a part. But most of the time nobody wants to say shit to someone that has a Great Dane that weighs almost 200 lbs walking right beside me 😂

No collars required for service dogs.
I don't follow this subject but a few years back I heard that in some places requirements for having service dogs has become extremely lenient as far as which dogs are permitted is concerned, and in terms of how much training is required. In fact, I think that the pocket and flap on a service dog's harness is intended to carry a copy of the dog's permit.
