Drew you have an incredible eye. It's crazy how consistently good everything in this video looks. You made that budget lens shine. I'm thinking about it as an accessible autofocus for my soon to arrive Leica SL.
I loved watching this video! You have a great eye, capturing wonderful moments with fantastic composition and natural light. Your work speaks for itself and I enjoy your humble straightforward voice over. I have that lens and will now remember to use it more. I didn't see much distortion. Great video and great work! 👏

Fantastic video Drew! Lovely relaxed pace to it and lots of great information and example shots with this new lens. I currently have the Sigma 35mm 1.4, which I love, but I hope to try this one out in the future. I recently bought the 50mm 1.8 and knowing this 35mm shares the same small size and light weight makes it an attractive option! Ben :)
Thank you for the comment, Ben! The 35 1.4 DG DN Sigma is defiantly an awesome lens - I’ve used it heaps. I still can’t believe how good the Lumix 50 1.8 is for the price! The way the new 1.8 lenses share a similar size and centre of gravity is super neat for video ☺️
Drew, who cares about the lens those photos of India & Rudy were just beyond gorgeous. I'm not a big fan of the 35mm but, this video has opened my eyes to the possibilities. Thank you, for sharing images of a couple in BIG LOVE!
Hey Drew. First, thanks for this video! Then, can you please describe for me the manual focus experience of it in comparison to older, mechanical focus ring, lenses!
The 35 1.8 will pair so well with the 50mm! The shots you see at the end of the video were the lowest light I’ve used the lens in so far. It performed well all day! I’ll be photographing a wedding with it this weekend so I’ll be able to share more info next week ☺️
Hello. The size difference is significant and wide aperture comes in handy if you shoot in low light conditions or enjoy the separation/additional bokeh that comes with it. For video the f1.8 primes are great because you can change on a gimbal without rebalancing
Thank you so much! I actually edit all sets of images individually and copy across the album. I’ll definitely be making preset packs and tutorials in the near future though. Thanks again for your comment
Thank you! I shot in RAW and then edited inside Lightroom, so the profile would be been Adobe Color. I often use Capture One as well ☺️ hope that helps
Do you have any opinions on differences between LUMIX S S50 50mm F1.8 L for $447.99, the LUMIX G NS043 42.5mm F1.2 ASPH LEICA DG NOCTICRON Lens for $1197.99 and the LUMIX S X50 50mm F1.4 LEICA Certified L Mount Lens for $2299.99 for the GH5ii? What about the LUMIX S S50 50mm F1.8 L vs the 12-60mm f2.8-4.0 leica lens at 50mm on a GH5ii? Thank you.
Trying to decide between the Lumix S 35mm 1.8 and the 50mm i.8 Is there any noticeable difference in sharpness between the 35mm 1.8 vs the 50mm i.8 ? In video mode, which of the 2 prime lenses focuses faster?
I have used both lenses many times. The sigma is sharper and bigger and the Lumix has slightly faster AF and is smaller. They are both fantastic, I use the Sigma for weddings for the F1.4 in low light conditions and the Lumix for everyday and travel.
@@DrewBuckler I was afraid about AF in photos. I consider to get 24 or 35 sigma 1.4 actually, so do you recommend these lenses for lumix s5/s1? of course video manually even with primes, but does AF works similar for photos like prime lenses? is it normally usable?
