- Major hurricane Beryl is putting major impacts on Jamaica today and tonight, 160 mph wind gusts, 140 mph sustained. 20 foot waves and major flooding and 9 ft. storm surge. This is going to the Cayman Islands tonight, then the Yucatan as a strong hurricane.
This hurricane will also go into the Gulf of Mexico and do something different.

I have a feeling of the northern turn along that Texas coastline.. just because of the warm waters Beryl won’t leave from..just like Harvey … this is the 2nd solar eclipse storm(Harvey was the 1st)

This crazy weather should be used as a sign to be prepared for any disaster. We live in a world where we forget how easily we can lose everything. 1-2 thousand dollars can get you a little solar panel and battery. Food. Survival seeds and a survival Kit. Morning Mark, i dont know why, but i have a feeling it will turn and head into Texas. I am thinking landfall will probably be somewhere between matagorda and freeport, but maybe a little south of that. Just looking at everything going on weather wise in the gulf and think beryl will track farther north as it enters the gulf of mexico. I have lived my 61 years along the gulf and have lived through many hurricanes...right now i am in Houston Texas and can say that not many are taking this hurricane seriously around here....have even talked to a few that didn't even know there was a hurricane headed for the gulf. Mark. Something to note is that this hurricane was not projected to be a Category 5 at the beginning. Even recently in past couple of years these storms are likely under forecasted as the models are all not totally seeing them rapidly intensifying. Ocean heat content is playing a big part of these storms. I don’t think the invest behind Beryl is going to get too straight given Beryl has churned up and exhausted ocean heat content.
Anyway I agree with some sort of Texas landfall.

As a Texan, I've learned to always keep my eyes to the sky when it comes to these canes. Harvey was a real wake up call and this path is eerily reminiscent of that one. Albeit two months earlier than the typical Cape Verde born storms. Anyways thanks as always for the updates and God Bless.

I think hurricane Gilbert in 1988 is how this storm will behave. Going straight (over Yucatan near cat5) and straight to Mexico (cat3 or so), moving steady and fast.

The eye going south of Jamaica but so close is bad. That is less land interaction to tear the storm apart.
The storm will take the path You allow, Father God. We put our trust and faith in You. Shield the people. We are entering unprecedented days, that we know contain both judgement and defeating the wave of darkness threatening to overcome the earth. We are trying to understand. I've observed that beyond a day, the hurricane path and strength predictions from the meteorology gurus aren't worth the pixels displayed on. Living in Florida, it's frustrating to see endless predictions (often presented with sensationalism) that are totally wrong. Even the cone predictions are often wrong. With all this AI hype, why can't a 2-5-day prediction be halfway reliable?

I am in the Montego Bay area. However, at this time 10.54 am Wednesday, there is a little breeze not yet raining, but very much cloudy. In the meantime, we are taking as many precautions regarding this Hurricane. We are praying that at the end of the day, we may be blessed with less damage. At this time I am looking at our beautiful trees and know that tomorrow will bring us a different scenery.

Kind of looks like there might be a fairly good possibility, that this hurricane may hit a wider section of Texas then first presumed. Just too early. but I do believe that the tail of Texas will have some impact from this!

US forecasting models are extremely inaccurate. Wrong about Irma and Ian. I live in Ft Myers Beach, used to it. European models are much more accurate in my opinion.
The GFS was spot on with Ian in terms of strength, the ECMWF, not so much. But Ian was all over the place with the tracks. The models had no idea what was going on due to a trough that was east of florida.
