  • In this adventure we bring y'all along as we hike an unexpected 17.3 mile day hike to Druid Arch and Chesler Park in the Needles District, plus visit a super cool historic trail, and then give dutch oven cooking another try (will it turn out like the cornbread?! You'll have to watch to find out! 😉). It was an epic, exhausting, and long day!

Ok. I have followed a lot of UA-camrs that have toured this area. I can positively say without a doubt that you are the best. So much so that I deleted all the others and will just follow you. Also, I have shared and told all my outdoor friends about you. Thank you for showing how much fun it is to have fun in my state and for acting so cool when you have to change plans. Bless you both. So excited to watch where you go and follow where you have been.

A really great series on the Utah National Parks and Southern Utah in general. As a native of Utah, I have been to these areas several times over the past 50+ years - but you are doing (hiking) parts of them that I have never even considered before. Makes me want to explore my own backyard a lot more. The hike to Druid Arch looks incredible. All the best.

We were in the Needles District in November of 2020. We loved it there. You are so right about the scenery and “fun” on the trails. We were able to start at Elephant Hill and hike to Chesler Park and the Joint Trail which was our first taste of slot canyons. I recognized several parts of your trail. 17 miles is a long, long haul. We did 11 and were exhausted. Plus we were outrunning a snow storm at the end, which made for some pretty cool photos. Thanks for sharing your adventure, I love watching your channel!

Hey! Just rewatching this for the 3rd time after we did Druid Arch too!
You guys are beyond experts! This is a tough hike! We rescued a solo hiker along the way and we barely made it before dark. The last climb before the arch is gnarly, and the way down isn’t necessarily easier because it is more dangerous as you can trip and fall several dozen feet. Going down is even slower, no room for error
I’m amazed you did 17 miles in 8:40. BTW, the other way isn’t 11 miles despite what the sign says, it was 12 miles. It seems it was off for you too, 17 instead of 15. That last mile feels like it goes on forever

my sisters landlord used to be one of the cowboys here in the 70s! Someone (suspectingly government-paid) terrorized the cowboys, killed their cattle, torched their cabins and pretty much drove them out so they could make the canyonlands into a national park. Mark (the cowboy) said they couldn’t recover so they moved their ranch to eastern Oregon. Also apparently there’s oil fields in the area the government wanted to keep hidden. Anyway. Some sad but interesting history about that cowboy site you found. That’s where the cowboys went.
