Farmer's POV (Point of View) is a channel where I share videos of different chores that are going on on our small family farm in Slovenia. We have 60 heads of cattle, mainly simmetal breed and we milk about 35 of them. We farm in a fairly hilly area so our equipment is relatively small. Currently we own 4 tractors: Fiat DT55-56, New Holland TN70DA, Deutz Fahr Agroplus 85 and John Deere 5085M. We work around 20 hectares of mainly grass fields and about 2,5 hectares for silage corn. We also have 7 hectares of forest.

weather so wet here i was at firewood today ......... i never seen the land so wet in april ......you can do nothing in the fields .......cutting firewood keeps me from going mad ........rain here for the last 9 months
@@georgedoorley5628 it's very wet here too. Autumn was very wet and winter had quite a bit of snow. I don't remember any other spring that has been so wet from the get-go. Luckily we haven't had much rain right now in April.

I find it very cool that in your country you are able to live off such a small farm, whereas here in England you would be unable to make a living off such small scale farming.
It's amazing and look how tidy and neat it is compared to some of the dirty untidy dairy farms in the UK

@@frayserken well I mean the average size dairy herd here in the uk is probably around 300 head of cattle, and it would be very difficult to live off the amount of cows they seem to have, although I can’t say exactly how many I can’t imagine it would be more than 50
Very similar situation here in the US, out in the midwestern parts of the country the dairy farms get into the thousands when it comes to head of cattle
And the machinery is much larger as well

Yeah, it seems nice but it's a bit too early this year, we had too hot weather for April. Tomorrow we are expecting a cooling and even a chance of snow. That's why we decided to cut the grass now, while the conditions are great 😀 Yes, the grass was very thick 👍

You guys are very lucky to say the least ! Here in Ireland there's been non stop rain almost every day since the start of the year, we should have cattle out in the fields but no sign yet, and a lot of grain farmers are in a very bad situation, hopefully some improvement.
Yes, I'm sorry to hear that 😶 its getting harder every year 🙄 even here, last week we were having temps up to 30 °C and now they're calling for rain and cold, maybe even snow this week... 🤦♂️

Thats unfortunate 🙄 as nice as it is here, it's a bit worrying because we've already had summer-like temperatures (30°C) for the last two weeks. And for this week they're forecasting rain or possible snow and temperatures dropping to 0°C 🙄

Yes, half a month at least 😀 that's right, we usually cut seeded grass fields around 1st of May. Thanks, it went well, no break downs and ground and air conditions were perfect 😁

WOW first cut already Gasper is this the earliest You've cut IS that the field you reseeded last year after you cut the maize it looks pretty good
We'll be lucky here if we get to cut silage here by the end of may winter and start of spring has being terrible wet cows/cattle are only going out this week

I have no experience farming and I live in the suburbs. One question, why do you use a Tedder if you’re making silage?
The grass still has to dry some, with tedder it dries faster and more evenly.
