MCU Hela is a knockoff Lady of Blades from D&D. Even working with Marvel Asgardians they could have done a better job on Hela than they did.

I've never seen an actress act so much with her lips & hips as Cate did in this role.
and the eyes...considering she has blue and they also desaturated them so she looks extra dead fish eyes, she did great work with the makeup contrast as well.
She made the role her own indeed.

There sre things in the MCU/Marvel Comics that are more powerful than infinity stones. It's such a shame that Hela never realized that she could use the tesseract to complete her quest (even without the bifrost)

@Sydney Some representations show her in simultaneously in 2 ways...1 side (imagine a vertical separation between left & right from top of head downwards) perhaps that of a pleasant or beautiful woman while the other side is more skeletal or corpse like.

True. How could she be a villain and not a victim? As we all know, women can only be what men shape them to become.
Gotta love the disconnect of logic which wants a strong, female character but doesn't want her to have agency or responsibility. She's a pitiful shell of an immortal, reduced to her thirst for vengeance. You might say she is the corruption of the mother archetype, who can only destroy, never create.
Only in the comic book/ movies is she a villain. Look at what and who she really was in the Norse stories.
@@sykotikmommy Would have preferred the troll-woman or ogre of the Poetic Edda with the mottled blue skin. I suppose the skin-tight outfit on Cate was projected to fill more seats in theaters than her depiction in the old Norse stories. She's also the daughter of Loki in those stories.
As the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree, one wouldn't expect her to be a heroic figure. We need look no further than her siblings, Fenris & Jormangandr, to see what the trickster god spawns.

We need a movie of Hela and Odin on how they embarked on their bloody conquest in the Nine Realms into Asgard's power, because that short cinematic fight scene with the Valkyrie is legendary, queen of the underworld, Cate Blanchett did an exceptional job of portraying Hela 👌
I imagine the direction is more aimed to offer “positivity,” but I think Hela was an admirable villain. Her character was true for her nature and Cate Blanchett gives her a dark & seductive, yet powerful and sharp, persona.

Keep in mind that Hela was the most powerful villain in the MCU. She easily beats base Thanos. Her speed and healing makes her OP already. The fact she can summon necro swords out of nowhere makes her stupidly overpowered. If Marvel hadn’t tried to fill so much of the movie with comedy we could have seen a real fight out of her. She wasn’t a thor level villain. She was a villain that not even the avengers could possibly beat.

We need more Hela. She was amazingly awesome. There's plently more to show and tell about her. We don't even know what her "hell" prison was like inside, only got glimpses of her powerful destruction, none of Odin in his prime. Movie was fun but not great, too much DLC add-on just to get hulk in a feature length film.

Well, we might expect a heroic male character to take a bad situation, grow, & come out a better person on the other side. A character as one-dimensional as Hela can only provide so much. She's a study in daddy issues & zero values.

BEST VILLAIN EVER
Cate Blanchett. The woman can take a character that's never mentioned before in the MCU and in just a few scenes turn her into an icon. I can't help noticing that people have no problem with Hela kicking everyone's arses and being super-powerful, because it's done right. She doesn't overpower Thor because her muscles are stronger. She doesn't suddenly acquire skills that it takes everyone else decades to get. Her power makes sense within the universe of the story and she isn't suddenly stronger, smarter, and loved by everyone for no reason - unlike some other 'powerful' female characters of the last 5 years.

Which makes that giant wolf his son, Fenrir, and Odin be riding around on his other son, Sleipnir. I can only go to fanfiction to cry about the horror that would turn Loki's head to, cause combined with the Thanos+The Other torture, dude would have destroyed Earth seconds after landing on it.
