Many actors have played Dracula & many have done it remarkably well but for me there is only one actor who played the part very Differently & origionally That was Gary Oldman! His Dracooolyaa was stunning & the 2 coiled rolls of hair on his head & the back braided into a 5ft plait, His accent was amazing & then when he switched back into a young man in London looking for Mina... well i was very smitten! Agreed. This movie got more unwarranted criticism than it deserved. It's not my most favorite of the Dracula movies (the 1990's Dracula is still #1 for me) but it's an amazing story, and very rewatchable. I love when they give the villain a relatable backstory. It always makes it come into perspective and gives the stories a more life-like representation. I'd do the same thing if I lost my love in the way he did in Untold.

Well, the real life inspiration, Vlad Dracul III (I think it was III, might have been II), had a sad end. A sad life, really. In slavery under the Turks for many years while his father just outright declined to pay his ransom. Later on, the Turks tried to put him on the throne as a puppet ruler, but he drove them out. For a while, he ruled a bloody reign (though strangely enough, the general populace of the time felt rather secure, as it was said you could leave your money out in the open and few would dare steal it, due to the penalty of death for theft. Really, it is quite interesting to study stories about his rule.) So, with wars going on, he asked for aid, but somewhere along the way I believe it was a bishop that made it so he was refused aid from other countries, and then he watched his wife commit suicide by jumping off the castle walls, saying she would rather be eaten by the fish of the river than captured by the Turks (which, yeah, sadly if an army captured enemy women, it usually didn't end up well), which brings out another interesting part of the story. It was said that Vlad's screams of pain and anger at seeing his wife kill herself echoing through the countryside was enough to make the entirety of the Turk army pause, if for a brief moment. And then he was captured and eventually killed. So, the reason Dracula stories always end in death, at least when based on the original legend that inspired the monster, is that his life was just that crappy.

It's been out for ages. Was supposed to start a franchise but the studio felt it didn't make enough money so thst didn't happen. Which is bullshit I might add because this deserves at least one sequel.

Agreed. This movie got more unwarranted criticism than it deserved. It's not my most favorite of the Dracula movies (the 1990's Dracula is still #1 for me) but it's an amazing story, and very rewatchable. I love when they give the villain a relatable backstory. It always makes it come into perspective and gives the stories a more life-like representation. I'd do the same thing if I lost my love in the way he did in Untold.

Well, the real life inspiration, Vlad Dracul III (I think it was III, might have been II), had a sad end. A sad life, really. In slavery under the Turks for many years while his father just outright declined to pay his ransom. Later on, the Turks tried to put him on the throne as a puppet ruler, but he drove them out. For a while, he ruled a bloody reign (though strangely enough, the general populace of the time felt rather secure, as it was said you could leave your money out in the open and few would dare steal it, due to the penalty of death for theft. Really, it is quite interesting to study stories about his rule.) So, with wars going on, he asked for aid, but somewhere along the way I believe it was a bishop that made it so he was refused aid from other countries, and then he watched his wife commit suicide by jumping off the castle walls, saying she would rather be eaten by the fish of the river than captured by the Turks (which, yeah, sadly if an army captured enemy women, it usually didn't end up well), which brings out another interesting part of the story. It was said that Vlad's screams of pain and anger at seeing his wife kill herself echoing through the countryside was enough to make the entirety of the Turk army pause, if for a brief moment. And then he was captured and eventually killed. So, the reason Dracula stories always end in death, at least when based on the original legend that inspired the monster, is that his life was just that crappy.
