- Besides the drama happening in figure skating, we really want to celebrate our new women champion, Anna Shcherbakova. 4 years ago, no one would have predicted she would take the ultimate crown this cycle. Everyone's attention were on Sasha Trusova, then Aliona Kostornaia, then Kamila Valieva. But among them, Anna really stole our hearts with her perseverance. She just refused to give up. Since the very first time we've seen Anna Shcherbakova in 2017, our eyes just couldn't take off from her. She's a charming young lady. For so many years, she's been under the shadow of her teammates. Even though after this Olympic win, we think she may still be under the shadow. But we just want to take a moment to celebrate her achievement, through her perseverance. She is never gonna have a larger body like Wakaba, she is naturally petite. Just look at her mom, she's not a big woman either.

Still you know she gonna get some breasts and some hip mass eventually anyway, also if her body mass index is below 18 they say that you dont get periods etc. I am quite sure that they would still go with the hormone therapy even if the effect is marginal.

Anna is the person who deservedly should have become an Olympic champion.
Everyone knows that Anna is a well-balanced figure skater: her programs combine difficult elements with artistry. But I also want to mention that Anna is a wonderful person.
She works hard, she never complains.
Tap on the knee for several months? "Nothing serious". Lost the competition? "Yes, there were mistakes, so I will work harder to show my best". Did skates break a few days before the Olympics and had to roll out new ones? "It doesn't bother me in any way". Got injured and couldn't train for 2 months during the Olympic season? "Everything is fine, we are working normally".
She is grateful to the coaches, she respects the opponents, she never speaks ill of others. She is modest, well-mannered, she is very smart and mentally strong. Anna is a very clean and bright person. And she also has a wonderful intelligent family.

@@wuverrabbit, Yes, there are scam videos of haters. Screenshots are given later than the point of contact of the thrust leg, showing a flat edge. The same thing is done by prerotation. Anna has shallow ribs on jagged jumps, but they are correct. Skaters with irregular ribs are not disassembled, although there are many of them. Prerotation on quads is greater even for many men, but haters do not notice this. They cling to Anna.

В какой тени Анна? Среди действующих фигуристок Анечка самая титулованная: трёхкратная чемпионка России, чемпионка мира, олимпийская чемпионка. В прошлом сезоне не проиграла ни одного старта, выиграла всё золото. Это в её тени все остальные. Будьте, пожалуйста, объективны. Огромное спасибо за информацию о том, что Анна первая прыгнула четверной на тренировке, а потом сломала ногу, поэтому все считают первой Сашу. И у неё был не перелом стопы, а очень серьёзный перелом, даже в вашем ролике видно, что у неё вся ножка в гипсе. Мало кто верил, что после такой тяжелейшей травмы Анечка сможет вернуться на лёд. А она смогла! Невероятная девушка наша леди Анна.
my sweet sweet anya, she’s the sweetest and most kindest skater i’ve ever seen, she’s just so lovely on and off the ice. the video of her going out in heavy snow just to give her fans that waited to see her autographs that she prepared beforehand really made me fell for her. she’s always so mature in interviews too, never putting down her rivals or teammates even when the reporters basically taunt her. i hate how people easily throw hate on anya because of her not-the-best jumping techniques, but forget she’s just a kid trying to realize her dreams ?? like, i admit, she doesn’t have textbook jumping techniques like yuzu or yuna, and her lutzs and flips can be questionable at times, but she’s really trying her best. she always have. it pained me seeing her say that her ambition is to skate for a very long time, considering the track record of eteri and her skaters.

Exactly! Still in my cloud 9 that Anna is now officially Olympic Champion and the world will come to learn about this girl! Yes she doesn't have the best jumping techniques, but her skating always touch us and made us feel something. Still couldn't forget Christmas Eve 2020 when she delivered that free skate after such fierce competition and after she just recovered from COVID which made us all cry like crazy...

@@FigureSkatingFan really, her skatings are one of the few that really touches me, besides yuzu, yuna, rika, junhwan, etc etc. when she contracted pneumonia because of covid i was crying for her, but watching her skate after recovering makes me realise that wow nothing could get in anya’s way. she’s really made for the ice

There are just too many young skaters over there and they can easily be replaced. Hopefully they shine in different place after their competitive career too. Like Evgenia, she's doing show, doing the commentary, supporting young skaters. Of course hope to see them last long, but it's really hard for them too bad...

I am confused now because I watched a piece with Anna and Sasha 3 yrs ago talkjng about training and such. They talked about Sasha first woman to land a quad in competition. You probably seen it as well . They also brought up her being named the Russian rocket because of the quads . Sasha said yes she was the first, but many of them are doing quads now etc....

История Анны Щербаковой не требует излишней театрализации и передёргивания. К чему этот Голливуд? Не была Аня в тени перед Олимпиадой. К этому моменту она уже была 3-кратной чемпионкой России, действующей чемпионкой мира, 2-кратной вице-чемпионкой Европы. За 3 сезона по взрослым Анна на каждом соревновании была на подиуме. В тени она была только по причине травмы во время предсезонного сбора, вследствие чего выход на пик формы был сдвинут по времени на 1,5-2 месяца. Ну, можно, конечно, вспомнить про экстренную замену коньков уже на Олимпиаде, что, видимо, привело к некоторому упрощению контента - отказу от лутц-ритта в короткой и сокращению количества квадов в произвольной с 3-х до 2-х. Но и так было понятно, что при чистом прокате Ани обеих программ обыграть её будет тяжело не только Саше, но и Камиле.
А если и нагнетать трагизма в ситуации на Олимпиаде, то надо было бы упомянуть и про организованную после ЧР2022 травлю Ани российскими и иностранными СМИ, и про отказ ФФКР от участия Анны в команднике, и про положительную допинг-пробу Камилы, что довело ситуацию до крайнего накала. И Анна с блеском и достоинством со всем этим справилась.
Во первых на ОИ Анна проиграла КП Ками ,а ПП Саши и где она первая ? Она просто как в народе говорят золотая середина ,молодец хвала ей и честь ,что умеет собираться в нужное время и в нужный час !!!

во-вторых: в КП и Сашу и Аню очень сильно прижали. протоколы посмотрите, одни 2 и 3. их откровенно засудили. готовили плацдарм для Каори, на случай, если девчонки под давлением накосячат с квадами.
@@СадаКадиеваНаша федерация поставила ставку на Камилу! Аня и Саша были нестабильными, думали завалят квады, а им надо золото. После скандала с допингом, Саша и Аня вдвоём поняли, что это их шанс на золото и в ПП уже боролись между собой, обе откатали ПП максимум, но всё решала сумма баллов 2х программ, по итогу победила Аня. Саша и Аня обе честные и сильные спортсмены, каждая понимала, что федерация не доверяла им, это вдвойне обидно им, но они взяли и золото и серебро ОИ.
I gotta admit, I never watched or followed figure skating before these Olympics. So I didn't even know who she was. But seeing her by herself like that after winning the gold was just heartbreaking. Then I went through UA-cam and binged on her performances, and watched several interviews of hers. And she really is just the sweetest kid ever. I'm a fully fledged fan at this point.
I will be watching and supporting her in a month at the worlds competition.
Anna certainly is mature, kind, determined, intelligent, goldenhearted girl. She deserves all the support from fans.

She currently nominated by the ISU for most valuable skater of the year. Hope she wins. Small consolation prize, but it's deserved.

I don't usually follow figure skating, but because of so much drama during this olympics I thought to find out what all the fuss was about. After watching the competition and finding out little bit about the skaters, the real highlight for me was Anna's Journey to achieving the Olympic gold medal. There is such an incredible and inspiring story behind her, it's real shame that her story was never presented to those who don't usually follow the sport, and instead the focus was on all the wrong things. What strength of charcter she has, she fully deserves the gold medal (she absolutely won it, others didn't lose it) and, even though it would be a tall ask, how wonderful it'd be to see her skate again in next Olympics.
I wouldn't be surprised if she tried again at the next Olympics. Skaters from her camp usually seem to retire around 17 (her age when she won at the Olympics) but she's 18 now and still saying she has no plans to retire in interviews. She underwent knee surgery and is in recovery, but says she's training and getting her elements back (already back up to doing triples I've heard). She'd only be 21 at the next Olympics, which was how old Kaori Sakamoto (the Bronze Medalist at this last Olympics) was.
Russia's Skating Federation may want to consider extending her career too, seeing as the ISU raised the age limit to qualify for the Olympics, meaning slightly older competitors are more useful/needed now.
If anyone will defy the infamous Eteri expiration date, it'll probably be Shcherbakova and her notorious Iron Will.

Anna is one of the great skaters ever. Not only can she do quads, her skating is just beautiful. She looks very tall on the ice but she’s 5’3”. Her long lines, extension & ability to deliver under pressure is truly among the rarest of skaters. Her Bielman is the best ever. She is honest, humble,classy & a really nice person. All hale the Olympic champ. 👏👏👏👏👏🤞❤️✌🏻
So Anna, not Sasha was the first woman to successfully land that quad... I did not know that. Honestly, I am glad to learn that. Nothing against Sasha, she is obviously great athlete, but Anna always had something more. She is calm, mentally strong and good natured - and it is showing in her graceful performances.

They are all great athletes. Unfortunately, Anna was injured during her junior international debut. Otherwise, she would be sharing the world records with Sasha.

В первую очередь сама Аня пока не празднует и это понятно почему. Её подруга по команде подверглась прессингу со стороны МОК., организации и лично Баха, который должен отстаивать права спортсменов, а он опустился до уровня дворовой сплетницы.

Виртуозные и сложнейшие прыжки - это прекрасно..Но так хочется пластичного, музыкального и образного исполнения, мягкого и нежного , а не только каскадов прыжков. У Ани есть всё. Это очень гармоничное катание.
Анна Щербакова Великая фигуристка и я считаю,что она лучшая из лучших. Фигурное катание смотрю из-за неё. Трусова делает прыжки,но само катание не вызывает никаких эмоций. Камила всё делает отточено,правильно,но за душу не берёт и только выступления Анны Щербаковой невозможно смотреть без слёз,их хочется пересматривать и не надоедает,чего не скажешь о выступлениях Камилы и Саши. Считаю,что всё честно. Олимпийской чемпионкой должна была быть и есть Анна Щербакова. Благодарю и поздравляю Анну с блистательным выступлением и такой же победой. Браво!!!

Что значит- всегда была в тени? Трижды чемпионка России!!! Таких случайностей не бывает! Я заранее не знала ,что будет трагедия с Камилой. Но интуиция подсказывала, что победит на Олимпиаде именно Анна!!!
I first saw Anna skate a few years ago. I was on a trip and was flipping through channels on the TV in the hotel room, and one of them was showing a skating competition (I forgot which one). Before that, I had never been interested in figure skating, but when Anna took to the ice I was stunned. What particularly impressed be about her was how well she skated with her music. From that moment, I was a fan! As a musician I was amazed, and no other athlete there seemed to be able to do anything like it. I was only a freshman in high school at the time, but I was at least keen enough to recognize a true champion when I saw her. And now, three years later, here she stands a with olympic gold! A lot of people unjustly criticize her for her jumps, but from what I know about the sport there's a lot more to it than that. Anna'a artistry is really unparalleled.
I'm immensely saddened that I will probably never see her skate in international competition again to to geopolitics.I really wish she could know how much her grace, intelligence, excellence, and perservearence have inspired me over the past three years. Who knows, maybe I'll meet her one day and get to tell her in person. Anyways, I sincerely wish her the best in life. She's definitely impacted mine for the better :)
I had it similar with Alina Zagitova and then Anna became my next favourite when Alina took a break. Anna's artistry and maturity are unparalleled.

I hate the words that someone said sasha deserve gold more than her. Everyone do their best. Every medal is precious. It should be a time for celebating. It is not her fault that she win gold. Please said that directly to judge or sue them. In my opinion, as an audience, she is the most who deserved gold because her program is very amazing i can watch it everyday more than 3 times without bored feeling. Impressive. And i surely that her program can convince many people who was not interested in figure skate before to be a fan one.

Саша, лучшая, это не только моё мнение и Щербакова сильно уступает Саше в технике, к тому же образ Круэллы Саша раскрыла, 8 рекордов за одну олимпиаду, вам мало, а что сделала Щербакова такого, кто никто не сделал? Ничего Сашу просто засудили, поснимали гоэ 2 квада против 5,это смешно, сделать томное лицо и махать руками гораздо легче, чем сделать прыжок, фигурка это спорт, а не театр

チームメイトが苦しくて別のコーチへ移動していくのも、帰ってくるのもずっと見ていて、オリンピックという大舞台でチャンピオンになったのに、ニュースは2位.4位の選手ばかりをとりあげて、おめでとうと抱きしめに来てくれたのはたったの1人。メダルが決定して号泣していた坂本花織ちゃんのそばに1人ずっと寄り添って心配していた姿を見てもともと好きだったけどさらに好きになった。

I like Ana very much. She is nice and i'm sure she should not cry if she had silver medal as Sasha did. This is a demostration of a real sportive champion. She made us cry after her program she did when she was sik..what a strong personality.. also after the spetacular Sasha quads she kept calm and did a perfect program. A real champion.
For those who have watched skating in the past 3 years have cone to love and admire Anna. She has charmed the world with her beauty. All see this in her skating.

I think that the "real" skater, who respects and appreciates the figure skating with a real love, will eventually "gain people's trust, respect and real victory" of the sports. Anna wouldn't blame or criticize other winners when she lost. Anna has experienced injury before, so she knew the pain of "not being competing on the ice" as Yuzuru has had many times in the past. When your can't even step into the ice, the true love for the ice and skating is to be questioned and tested. Overcoming the injury and still wanting to skate have made Anna a stronger skater, who could skate and attract human hearts to her performance, like Yuzuru had been doing in the ice rink.
Yuzuru , like Anna has an aura about him. He will live long in people's memory and so will Anna.
We went to Skate America 2019 just because of Anna! Never regretted a moment. Such a joy to watch her. Anya, congratulations to you - very proud of you!

This video is so important because so many people don’t see her journey and how she fought in silent! Sasha’s and kamila‘s drama and stories are really present in the media(as they should) but anya‘s doesn’t get any recognition again. If you look at the olymipcs how she sat in the waiting room after winning the olympics, not even smiling, completely emotionally empty(as she said in an interview), because of sasha‘s and kamila‘s breakdowns, is just crazy. And still, she stays calm and professional! I think it’s really important that we know how strong she is and how much she fought in silent and how she was in the shadow of other skaters. That’s why I think she deserved the olympic gold so much(the others would ofc too)!

Look at this lovely girl - still smiling and waving at the camera despite not making the podium at the Grand Prix 2018. Such maturity and graciousness! She has the heart of a champion and her mesmerizing Olympics performance deserved the gold medal. As an American, I fell in love with her during the Olympics. Despite the drama that engulfed the ROC skating team, Anna represented her country very well. I wish Russian coaches/officials had not left her sitting alone after winning the gold medal. She deserved much better than what happened.

The fact she said she feels empty inside is just heartbreaking. She is the most elegant skater, she flows through the ice and captivates the viewer with artistry and flexibility. While her technique is questionable so is everyone else’s in the ROC team. She was fantastic and deserved that gold, living the same fate as Alina not being able to celebrate. I’m so happy for her-she absolutely redeemed herself and proved everyone’s doubts wrong. Be proud of yourself Anya, you deserve it. 💜
I saw her speak after her Olympic gold medal win. I got the feeling that she was (very understandably) struggling to express herself in a foreign language that she is only quite good--not excellent--at. So I don't think her words in English were possibly exactly what she meant to convey. I think she was trying to be her usual gracious self, but her English wording didn't go so well. That's how I see it. I wonder if she was trying to express that the realization of having won gold on the world's greatest stage just hadn't yet sunk in. Perhaps she meant that she had been focusing on just performing her very best. And winning first place just hadn't entered her mind as a significant likelihood--possibly clumsily mistranslated to feeling empty inside. I suspect if she had spoken in her native tongue through a talented interpreter her words would have been significantly different. I feel she is good at English though, just not yet proficient enough to have described adequately her feelings at such an emotional moment.

Also , I think just like with dancers , musicians and other artists , there are some who get so lost in the music or performance that it is difficult to come out of the performance when it ends. like coming down to Earth from heaven. Her journey , self believe, sportmanship showed she is the queen of this season especially the behaviour when she know she is the oc but her teammates didn't like to enjoy it she was all alone but she behaved so calmly she is the most deserved this time Olympic gold medal congratulations we love you

Анна, действительно, первая из Хрустального прыгнула четверной прыжок, ( флип ). Самая танцевальная и артистичная фигуристка и моя фаворитка среди российских фигуристок! Я очень рада, что Анна стала Олимпийской чемпионкой!!!
Не флип, тулуп вроде прыгнула она.
Самое интересное, после травмы Тулуп она не может выполнять.

@@ТатьянаОсипова-ч3к на тренировках именно Аня прыгнула первая. И планировала его сделать по выходу в сезон, но сломала ногу и из сезона выпала.

When she finished third in the latest Russian nationals it wasn't even guaranteed that she would be named to the Olympic team, although likely since she was the reigning world champion. So when a journalist asked her about how she felt coming in third, she answered that she was happy and proud and that she never skates to beat the other skaters. In that moment, she showed so much class and maturity for such a young person. I gained so much respect for her. Fast forward to the Olympics and all eyes are on Kamila Valieva and as the heavy favorite to win gold, and rightly so. With her combined artistry and athleticism Valieva was breaking records and helping Russia win the team competition. Anna never complained. Not like Sasha Trusova who acted like an entitled spoiled child for winning silver instead of gold. Though Trusova would set her own record for landing five quads in a routine, her overall performance was lacking artistry in comparison to Anna's. Trusova's performance was robotic. And Anna rightfully won. Given all the difficulties she'd faced it's refreshing to see a champion show grace and humility even when down. Trusova could learn some humility from Anna, besides the grace and artistry that she lacks.

@Jay Siligardi from what I've read the coaches were actively trying to talk her down from doing five quads, encouraging a heavier focus on artistry. It may have been mentioned in passing (given what Sasha said after the fact) that if she COULD land five quads cleanly it would be a guaranteed win, but nobody actually seemed to be expecting she'd pull that off (at least one fall was expected). Trusova, I suspect, calculated that her only shot of beating Kamila (who was the favorite at the time) was to outdo her on the jumps, and was not content to accept second or anything less by settling for fewer quads. I think she felt coaches efforts to talk her down from five, at that point, were just them trying to get her to roll over and accept a Valieva gold medal.
She attempted, and succeeded, at puling out five quads despite coaches reservations. At that point she, imaginably, felt like victory was assured. She'd done the supposedly impossible, in defiance of the doubt, and therefore had the ticket to victory. Then Anna came out and won anyway, with better elements than were expected from her. At that point Trusova, presumably, felt cheated and fell into despair, feeling the whole thing was pointless (she'd essentially just pulled her "Valieva vanquishing" performance plan, only for that to be outdone by Shcherbakova... who had also beaten her for the gold at Russian Nationals repeatedly, and at Worlds. I gather she may have felt the coaches favoured Anna with her choreography, and thus helped stack points in her favour, making Sasha feel she was always slated to lose out on gold. I'm not sure that's actually what happened though given that a.) Valieva was the favorite for this Olympics, clearly, not Anna, and Trusova was favoured over Anna after qualifiers and b.) Anna has a past history of also disregarding coaching advice and performing harder than expected (for example, her coaches tried to persuade her not to compete at nationals due to have Pneumonia, but she refused to withdraw and won gold anyway). Anna was presumably trying just as hard as Sasha to devise a program that she felt could compete with Valieva. Anna's artistry, ultimately, pushed her over the edge. Again, there are conspiracy theories she was favoured in choreography by one of her coaches (who handles the choreography), as she is supposedly his favorite of the trio (on account of being the most artistic). Even in that event, however, it is understood that the coaches encouraged Sasha to cut back a couple quads in favour of more artistic focus, so they may well have given her the same/similar feedback as Anna with regard to program balancing.
Big mess all around though. I understand being emotional when what is probably your one chance at your dream falls away from you before your eyes, after you've just done what you felt was the best you possibly ever could've.

Anna, ganó el oro, no que la dejaron ganar o que la sobrepuntuaron. Tuvo un programa libre limpio con un grado de dificultad por encima de todo el grupo de competidoras con excepción de sus compañeras, pero lo hizo limpio, con una destreza que le dio fluidez en el hielo y con una elegancia, gracia e interpretación de la música que logra capturar la atención de quien ve su rutina.

I know this video want to show how great Anna is, and she really is. I also agree that she frequently get underestimated when ppl compare her to others girls. But saying she always been under the shadow is not correct. Last season was her year, she came first in most competitions and was also rank 1. Everyone predict Anna to become the Olympics champion because Sasha & Aliona didn't have a great season at all. For me, trying to make her story be more touching by downgrade some of her success is not a good idea. I also wish you could put the story of her last year russian national in more detail, in my opinion, that victory is even more touching than the olympics moment. But anw, that just my opinion, thank you for putting effort on the video, i have always watching and will also continue watching your videos.
Actually nope, last year even she’s winning, the focus was still in Kamila and Sasha. Sasha was due to the drama between Plushenko and Eteri. But everyone’s been saying she couldn’t beat Kamila when she landed that 3A. 2 months after the Russian nationals win for Anna, Kamila outscored her big time in Russian channel 1 cup, so all eyes were on Kamila already. That’s how we have been getting in the feeds at least..

Chingyin. Very true that Rusnats 2020 was an amazing moment. That skate brought both Daniil and Eteri to tears and you could see even the stoical Dudakhov was moved.
