Merso X, The creator of Rescue-Palooza, is currently remaking Fall of the Foot Clan. It is coming along great. Be sure to keep an eye out for it in the future!
Really, Is there footage? I wish he puts an option to play in color, but not like the gbc because the turtles are red in the gbc lol. That guy is incredible!
One of the great early gaming memories for me : my grandmother used to shop from Fingerhut's catalog - for my brother, he received Mario Land, and Fall of the Foot Clan for me. even though we didn't have a GameBoy, i was a huge turtle fan, and would read through the manual, hold the cased cart in my hands imagining playing it, and just admire the boxart surrounded by my action figures. of course, my mother begrudgingly took us to Payless DrugStore down the street after about a week to pick us up the system finally. haha nice play, LoLa! ^_^
I got this game for Christmas, and beat it the same day thanks to the ability to select levels (i.e. even if I ran out of lives, I could start over at the beginning of the stage where I died). Even though the game was pretty easy and simplistic, I thought the game stood out for its clean sprites that mostly captured the essence of the cartoon characters: Foot Soldiers, Mousers, Roadkill Rodneys, Rocksteady, Bebop, Baxter, Shredder, Krang, etc. A lot of NES games really forced you to stretch your imagination to believe the sprites were licensed characters, but not TMNT FotFC. Also, I loved the minigames. One was guess Splinter's number between 1 and 1000, and the other was leave one remaining shuriken against Krang. I had fun coming with strategies for those.
Man I wish we could get a tmnt collection for modern systems like the contra collection with the gameboy game included. That was awesome. Hate the liscensing issues
All of your vids are amazing, but I love when you're covering the TMNT. I've played this game a long time ago, but never beat it. I need to revisit it one of these days.
I remember playing this on the GB. Took some getting used to with the framerate, and minimal graphics. It was pretty cool. Short, but fun So true about the music, it was super catchy but also felt like it was its own character. Michiru Yamane's legendary style
Konami didn't trust the Megadrive. It was struggling in Japan, and their first games for it were cut back to 4 megabits. So if we got an arcade port at all, it likely would have been a pretty dodgy one. Making it a pack-in would have done all kinds of damage to the brand.
This is my childhood right here. Played the hell out of this one! I loved how they implemented the Konami code in it and how it had stage select. I could never win that stupid Guess the number game w/ Splinter. How can "000" get any lower Splinter? HOW?
That damn bonus game is so confusing. When Splinter says “lower”, what he means is your number is lower than the number he’s thinking of, so he wants you to try again with a bigger number. 😩
Your zooming in on April's cleavage while exclaiming _"Yeaaah!"_ legit made me laugh out loud! I swear, that was hilarious! lol! On a related note; one of the things I love about the TMNT GB games is that they continue the platforming format of the first NES game. While I thoroughly enjoy the beat 'em up games, they lack the depth (pun not intended) of a platformer.
If the first 'Ninja Turtles' arcade game made it to The Genesis, I TOTALLY would've bought it! Also, I'd hate to live in a world where LJN/Acclaim had their grubby little hands on the 'Ninja Turtle' license. They would've made 'Cowafuckin Pieces Of Dogshit' games.
My favourite Turtles game, amazing sountrack, tight controls and gameplay and it looks great on the GB screen glad to see someone paying tribute to it...
One of the first games i actually played till the end and finished. I was always replaying this along with Attack of The Killer Tomatoes (based on the cartoon, loved the cartoon and Game Boy game), Super Mario Land and Duck Tales.
Fall of the Foot Clan DX is being made by the same guy that did Rescue Palooza, and it looks fantastic. Great video, and FOTFC is my favorite GB game, along with part 3.
My favorite on the gameboy was Turtles 2. It was fun and looked and sounded great. Plus it was a bit harder than this one, which was over for me a bit too quickly. Great job though putting it in perspective and pointing out the many great things about it.
My first GameBoy game and also the first game I ever beat! Technically I suppose Tetris was my first game as it was the pack-in game but Fall of the Foot Clan was the first cartridge I put in my GameBoy. It’s nice to see the game get the recognition here I think it deserves. Not only is it an early GB game with large detailed sprites but it also has parallax scrolling on some levels and the music is amazing when played through stereo headphones. People who only ever played the game through the GameBoy’s speaker really missed out! In fact I think it looks and plays just as well as many later GameBoy games. The video also doesn’t mention the bonus levels hidden in each stage. Touching certain walls or ceilings takes the player to one of three bonus games where you can get your health replenished if you win. I never played the third game, but I remember thinking Turtles II on the GB looked awful, with a really iffy looking turtle sprite so I never got it. It will be interesting to see the video on that one. It’s also worth mentioning pretty much the same team also did Nemesis on the GameBoy, which was a very good port for the GB.
Yeah, the turtles did look odd in TMNT II but the game is actually a bit better than the first and had more stages. The third GB TMNT game I was never able to the get the hang of. It looked good, turtles had unique abilities and the game area was kind of like Metroid map style, if memory serves me.
One of my first GB games and still part of my collection today. Great vid. Though no mention of the hidden puzzles that let you regain health. I'm sure not everyone likes them, but they're easily skipped over and don't have to break up the action of they're not your thing.
This was the first Game Boy game that I got for the system besides the pack-in tittle back in '91. I still own this game today, including the Game Boy. It's a pretty fun game, although a little too much on the easy side. I wonder if Top Hat will eventually talk about TMNT 3: Radical Rescue? In my opinion, that game is probably the most underrated Ninja Turtles game ever made.
@@ENiceGeo Yeah, I agree. I honestly think Radical Rescue is better than Metriod 2 for the Game Boy. The level design in RR was a lot more interesting to me than that game. It also had a map function that Metriod 2 lacked, although it's missing a save feature.
I saw them live at Radio City Music Hall, I shit you not. Look it up it was like a concert and they were a band and everything. I was so fucking happy.
@Top Hat Gaming Man, did you hear about DotEmu (of Streets of Rage 4/Bare Knuckle IV fame) working with Nickelodeon to make an all new TMNT game? I think that it might be a good game this time.
I don't think Konami were allowed to make Sega games at that point as Nintendo still had their super restrictive contracts in place. First konami games on MD/genesis were in 1992.
TMNT ow men that is part of my childhood 😏... it was so awesome ! Played the NES and GB version a lot. Later on I really enjoyed the Sega Megadrive (Genesis) versions.
I remember all to well how unforgiving the Game Boy screen could be in low light conditions. The Konami Hyperboy would have been perfect for playing Fall of the Foot Clan in that case.
And then we got TMNT II: Back From The Sewers... an atrocious game where Konami fell flat on their face and flailed around a bit before giving up. They really were a company of hit or miss games :D
Man I remember when I was Eight I used to play this game that was in 2008 when I was five I used to play this game with no knowledge of the Ninja Turtles that the time I was not interested in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 series but until now I decided to watch all the TMNT and become a fan (man I missed out a lot)
I bought this game specifically to play on Super Game Boy. I was disappointed that the Turtles' sprites were transparent since it meant I couldn't make them green.
There is no Rembrandt turtle, he's Raphael. Confused how you get this wrong every time. I thought perhaps they renamed him in the UK, but I can find no evidence of that.
They didn't. I've lived in England my whole life and grew up in the 80's. I have never heard anyone else in the UK ever call him anything other than Raphael. His name was even on all the toy boxes.
Fantastic vid mate. Really loved playing this one back in the day as I didnt have the nes and actually never have. Was superb platformer and enjoyed the music as well. Great history run through too 👍☕🏴😀
Too be honest, certainly not a die-hard, just a show I enjoyed casually. I was born in 1986 so with no older siblings or cousins there was no one to push it on me. Power Rangers would be the first franchise of this ilk that I became a super fan of. I lived and breathed Power Rangers as I was the correct target demo they were going for, where age wise I fell just short for TMNT to grab me. Power Rangers games are not in the TMNT games league though, which is a crying shame.
I had TMNT clothes, bedsheets, costumes, toys, games, music, cartoons movies... Turtle fever was so out of control I started eating pies fresh from the sewer.
Very odd. Is getting the name of a main character of a video game in a documentary video funny? Why would Baseball Cap Sports Boy do this? See was that funny?

Favourite attack: Crouching shoryukens
Raphael: Rembrandt? Who you callin' 'Rembrandt'?!' (I could just imagine Rob Paulsen saying that line.)

Yeah, Nickelodeon owns the entire TMNT franchise now.
You are a genius.
Lol well your wish is granted
there are also secret mini games in the levels too...
This game was amazing for GB 1990. Loved it along with Gargoyle's Quest.
This is a really great Gameboy game which did everything one would've wanted & expected at the time

Me: I will have You eating Cake while playing my GameBoy
Cowafuckin' Piece Of Chocolate Cake!

You know what, for the limit of the GB the sprites were big and detailed. Love this game, even today I still play it, emulated anyway.
I really do love this tmnt videos I still have Fall of The Foot clan
This was the second TMNT game I played. I remember borrowing it from my cousin and playing on road trips.

I loved this game so much as a kid. I played it again recently and it’s still really good
I loved playing this game, I felt immersed in that world. I wish I had the worm light when it was bed time tho

I'm looking forward to the video about the sequel. A childhood favorite of mine. The aerial level was so epic, too. It had the best music.
One of the first games I ever played and it lives close to my heart. Donatello FTW!
The recommended section brought me here after the TMNT: Shredder's Revenge trailer.
Well done video, sir! Really looking forward to your coverage of Back from the Sewers and, especially, Radical Rescue.
Holy shit, that April cosplay

My third Gameboy game. Really fond memories of this one.
I loved this game, (GB) Turtles made me feel that I wasn’t completely trash for being terrible on the NES version.
I liked this game for the controls, the ability to use shuriken, and the stage select option, both of which were missing in the sequels to the game.
