This is why I'm pumped for Shredder's Revenge. It's like they took the better parts of previous TMNT games and mashed them with upgrades and an original touch. Can't wait!!
The original tmnt arcade game is my favourite. Although I admit that turtles in time looks and plays better. The nostalgia is just stronger for the og with me.
Thanks for showcasing this game, it's definitely a hidden gem of the franchise. Also it may not be the most popular opinion, but I believe the 2007 animated movie is severely underrated. *MOVIE SPOILER* Especially the dramatic rooftop fight between Raphael and Leonardo. The realization that Leonardo has that Raphael was taking the fight way more seriously then he was, coupled with the culmination of their arcs over the previous movies, so good!
@@gjergjaurelius9798 Nevermind that they provided completely different experiences, even if both were beat em ups. It's literally comparing apples and oranges.
Turtles The Arcade 1989 for me. When that broke, it was a dream come true as a kid and a fan of the cartoon. You were pretty much playing the cartoon and there was nothing else that simulated anything that closely at the time in the arcades full stop.
I still remember playing this for the first time when it came out and calling my now-wife at work and freaking out that it was like Streets of Rage! We were totally starved of good beat ‘em ups in that decade. The movie was great too, saw it 5 times in theaters.
I completely missed this release. Game Apologist talked about it and I've been looking for it. Now that you are talking about it too, I definitely need to find it.
I picked up a used copy of this game cheap at a 2nd hand shop about 6 or 7 yrs ago but never got to play very far into it. Someday would be nice to sit down with it again.
Looks like a fun game, thank you for bringing it out of its shell, dude! That being said, the first two NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games remain at the top of my list :).
I remember Ubisoft saying they were so happy with the sales of the 3D home console version that they'd release a sequel regardless of whether the movie it was based on got a sequel. It's regarded in TMNT fandom this morphed into Smash Up.
hopefully TMNT Shredder's Revenge can scratch that itch back, the art style seems like a mix between this one and the SNES Turtles in Time (probably unintentionally, as that's just the modern pixel art look). Gameplay looks really fun, can't wait to play it :)
Shredder’s Revenge > Turtles in Time SNES > Rescue Palooza > Turtles in Time Arcade > TMNT 1989 Arcade > Hyper-stone > Manhattan NES > TMNT II NES > TMNT 1989 NES
Interesting , I'm going to have to check it out now. Thanks for the great video. I passed on it originally for the same reasons you brought up in the video.
Even though I disagree that the 2007 version of TMNT was the best, I hit the like button anyway and I am a subscriber too. My favorite TMNT game was the original (not the NES) arcade game followed by Turtles in time. The above two games encompassed the original 80s and 90s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles instead of today's modernized version of them which tend to be more lame.
@Games nostalgia is pretty powerful. Unless that '80s mirage version of the Turtles played a role in your childhood, its pretty mediocre. But if trying retro videogames, the 1990s TMNT games are better. Most Ninja Turtles games I played are bad beyond relief, but I can stomache games like Turtles in Time
@Games btw, this particular UA-cam channel is heavily based on nostalgia and retro content. So the demographic likely loves Adam West Batman, Super Friends, and Tetris
The only two reasons we never had this game for GBA included in the Collection is that 1. most GBA games get tgheir own collections, if they ever do. And 2. it was not a Konami developed game. All games included in the Cowabunga Collection are the Konami Legacy. But then Konami themsleves produced some inclusion/exclusion hickups with their Contra and Castlevania Collections.
That 07 game could be finished by just spamming the jump attack. Unblockable by everyone. Comparing these two and saying 07 is superior is just wrong. That game feels half assed. You couldn't even see your weapons, but the ones you picked up (which was a cool addition ngl) were visible. All atttack sprites look the same, just with a swoosh of the turtles' correspondent color. This felt more like a failed Streets of Rage with TMNT skins at the last moment....
This TMNT game ISN'T any better than Turtles In Time, just a newer game. It irritating how some people say 'This (or that) game is better than the previous title' wrong, just a newer idea of the game. This TMNT game isn't any better than Turtles In Time.
The only way tmnt 2007 would be better, if it had multi-player! Turtles in time will always be the best! Shredder's Revenge.... we'll see what it delivers.
I may be in the minority but while I loves tmnt turtles in time. My favorite tmnt game was the first nes game by konami it was hard and challenging but was fun and took a while to beat unlike all the beat em up tmnt games where you can finish in couple hours. But after completing tmnt 1 nes it felt like you took part in a real tmnt adventure it even had a definitive ending where splinter became human again
TMNT: Turtles In Time was the best Ninja Turtles game I've ever played, you are certainly entitled to your own opinion Top Hat Gaming and I respect that, but I'm just going to have to disagree with you on this one buddy 🎮
Thank you so much for this video, I had no idea that this game existed, I think I heard of it here and there, I missed a lot of GBA titles cause I was to obsessed with consoles at the time, so I've been playing catch up on them recently, so now I have another great one to add to my list, I appreciate you Top Hat Gaming Man🎩. 😊
Hey just want to say your doing some great work! I learn and play so many new games watching all these videos. I definitely think you should check out the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe beat em up I look through your list a couple of times and I dont if I missed it or you didnt do it yet but its a pretty good beat em up.
You are entitled to your opinion...even if it is wrong ;) Turtles in Time is not only the best TMNT game of all time, It is the best 2d beat 'em up of all time.
I'm so happy someone else agrees this is the best TMNT game ever made. The MAJOR issues are 1) no multiplayer 2) the bosses are NOT fun. In a beat em game you want to just pound the boss. But with every boss you hit them once and they run away. We should have been able to do a full combo on bossed before they run.
My misgivings about the clickbait-y title aside, I remember this game indeed being pretty great. Although, I always wished that it included a multiplayer mode despite the fact that the system may not have had enough power, or even enough dedicated players at the time of the games release.
Pretty tough to title a video about a game simply called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" when there are so many that share that exact name. I need to get creative sometimes.
I dont think its the best GBA beat em up. You have Double Dragon Advance, Final Fight One, Advance Guardian Heroes, River City Ransom EX, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Star Wars Episode III, among others. There's a lot of competition there. Its probably better than X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse and I dont even hate that game, its just a bit underwhelming.
I was actually disappointed the 1up can did not include the snes version as well because it had different levels and iconic boss fights like that one where yoy have to throw foot soldiers at the screen to hurt shredders mech. It’s a great use of mode 7 and other bosses like slash Ray King be up and rocksteady I mean come on !! I thought maybe I’d upgrade my og 1up cab when they talked about a newer premium unit if it included more games but no it just had higher price lighted buttons marquee and seat o don’t need no thanks i have not bought another 1up can since just not worth the price hike we want games!!
The worst mistake Mirage did to TMNT: Not giving all the characters their own trademark signature list of moves like Hokuto no Ken and Street Fighter II. It would've made the TMNT games a lot more fun.
Fun game. Best Beat em up on the Advance was a toss up between Final Fight One and Double Dragon Advance. Still gotta say the original turtles arcade was the best. I love the art style more.
I wouldn't call this better than Turtles in Time, mostly because the settings & characters you face aren't as interesting, as well as the lack of 4-player co-op.
Never played this, and not really thrilled, the art looks great but the moves look very repetitive (as in TMNT IV). TMNT IV Turtles In Times (SNES) is still the best for me, but I'll give it a chance and try it.
This is the only game I know which is better to play with "motion blur" option on in emulator because there is so many sprites so this feature makes game ever better!
I do appreciate the stealth elements of Battle Nexus. A full 25% of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is "Ninja" (By word, not letter), however being a ninja has been not much explored in the series.
TMNT (2007) for the GameBoy Advance looks great...but the TMNT: Turtles In Time will always be my fave. Also...the fan-made TMNT: Rescue-Palooza game is fantastic too...a must for every TMNT fan out there. I am so looking forward to TMNT: Shredder's Revenge soon. ❤👍

I really liked this game at the time. But sadly the lack of multiplayer makes it impossible to be considered the best TMNT beat'em up.
No multiplayer seems like a missed opportunity by Nintendo to sell a link cable at the time.
This game got a reboot on the ps3 where it was multiplayer
My thoughts exactly! Just doesn’t feel right not having the turtles fight as a team.
This is why I'm pumped for Shredder's Revenge. It's like they took the better parts of previous TMNT games and mashed them with upgrades and an original touch. Can't wait!!
Soooooooo pumped!!
Day one buy
@sk I've had it on my Steam wish list. And now we wait 😁
My favorite was Manhattan Project. The sheer amount of levels, enemies and bosses packed into an NES cartridge was super impressive at the time.
Same here but I never played the '07 game.

It was a sequel to the first 3 live action ones.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II for the NES is my favorite. The polar bear with the leather jacket is bae.
Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man. In a future video, you should review Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.
Shredder’s Revenge > Turtles in Time SNES > Rescue Palooza > Turtles in Time Arcade > TMNT 1989 Arcade > Hyper-stone > Manhattan NES > TMNT II NES > TMNT 1989 NES
Tournament Fighters was my favorite TMNT. Manhattan Project is #2 and The Arcade Game is #3
I see your point but can’t really put it on the level of the two arcade classics. Lack of multiplayer lowers this for me but this was a great game
