      Get you a machine and get after it! My machine has paid for itself 10 fold, and it’s a lot of fun. Cheers.

    Extremely cool man thanks for sharing. I've had good luck with the 8.4 so far but the first time I blow one I'll be doing this!

      For sure man! It would be a nice, wide match for your long travel set up if you ever grenade your 8.4

    Love your whole build! With the 4.10 rear end, did you swap out the front diff, too? Research is telling me 2003 AC had 3.91, but the 2004 DC had a 4.10.

      @@playludesc Thank you! The rear end I swapped was from a 2010 Tundra, a second gen. It came with 4.30 gears from the factory, which matched the 4.30 front diff (and old rear) I had installed previously from a V6 first gen. The V6 first gen tundras have a 4.30 gear option, unlike the V8’s. I’ve since regeared both the front and rear diff to 5.29 when I installed the limited slip (rear) and e-locker (front.)

    My biggest question is, how do you insure this with an insurance company? I am genuinely curious about how to insure such a modified vehicle without added liability, because i can't figure it out...

      Every state and insurance company is different, so I would talk to your provider. There is modified vehicle insurance.

    Where is the hand brake or foot brake for that rear setup??

    • @JHBtheIV
      @JHBtheIV  Рік тому

      No e-brake currently. Haven’t had a working one in about a decade, so I’m used to it. May install a caliper style one, or possibly a pinion brake, if I get ambitious down the line. I left the pedal
      assembly and frame cable in the truck just in case.

      @@JHBtheIV Same here M8, I have a 1985 Toyota 4runner SR5 5 speed with the 22re and has 35's on it with 5:29 gearing , Trail Gear rear GM disc brake setup and I also kept the cables for the rear handbrake in case I can find the right set up for it.... good luck!

    Silver Mine Motors have a great Drum to Disc conversion kit for 1st generation Tundras. I have twice the breaking power now. I do recommend watching how to do a drum to disc conversion video on UA-cam to get a full understanding how to install the parking brake shoes. As of this date, I haven't seen any drum to disc conversions for a Tundra.

      Good to know for the folks with the stock rear end! Personally I think money is better spent on upgrading the front brakes to larger pistons/rotors, before considering discs for the rear. The front does the large majority of the braking on these pick ups, so swapping to discs in the rear usually isn’t going to have a huge effect.. I know I’ve spoken to a couple folks that have done a rear disc swap and it was hardly noticeable. I think it probably depends on how well tuned your drum brakes were before the swap.

      Oh, and concerning the parking brake. I’m likely not going to use the stock set up in the 10.5, as it’s sub par anyway. Currently working on an alternative solution.

    The Tundra axle is tough to begin with, you must be a BEAST! Nice build, can't wait to see more.

      Thank you! I definitely don’t worry about my rear axle anymore. The front CV’s on the other hand…

    Hey, how much wider is this axle? Though about doing this cause I am long travel front

    • @JHBtheIV
      @JHBtheIV  Рік тому

      I’ve never officially measured it, but I would guess it’s about 6” wider than the stock axle. It would be a great match for a LT front set up.

    • @562xWhiteboyx

      Find anything on how to 6 lug swap? Thought about just having custom axles made and getting blanked rotors drilled to match.

    • @JHBtheIV
      @JHBtheIV  Рік тому

      I looked into it ,but didn’t find anyone willing to machine new axles without selling me a custom housing.
      I had some machine shops tell me they would consider redrilling them to 6 lug, but I never got around to going by the shops for them to take a look.

    Did you remove a factory cross member above the diff? . These mods require certification by an engineer in Australia where I live. , but I'd like to do the fisc brake conversion.

      @JHBtheIV  Рік тому

      Yes I did remove the X-member that normally houses the spare tire.
