AI upscaling is a joke. While it definitely has a useful function in extending the life of older hardware, it's become a crutch of lazy development, poor optimization, and allows consoles to advertise far above the hardware's actual capabilities. I'm sure it will improve, but for right now it leaves nasty artifacts, blurriness with an ugly sharpening filter, and ghosting that's only compounded by disgusting TAA, Motion Blur, and Chromatic Aberration. Unless that shit drops below 1440p 30fps, I'll stay on native resolution. This kind of stuff is making modern games look like absolute dog ****. That PSSR is even worse than DLSS/FSR/XeSS is even more damning.
I suspect it is beta testing for the PS6, which makes me worry that it will rely on upscaling to cover weak hardware in its next generation of hardware releases.
You cannot compare a brand new technology back in time with pssr which does existing stuff on its own way. You pay now 800 bucks and not when it maybe works in future

Totally agree with you. All the good PS5 Pro (PSSR) implementations have in common having a higher base resolution. 1080p or more. 720p is just plain insulting to PS5 Pro consumers and utterly ridiculous by today's standards.
PSSR is going through it's testing phase. We who bought the PS5 Pro are basically beta testers. They shouldn't take away the option to turn off PSSR. I say if you don't want to toggle PSSR you should be able to turn it off, especially if the PSSR patch for the game has been known to be bad.

Your inner pony is showing as I have been a paid tester in the past and FYI most betas are either paid entry or free entry and those testers do it of their own free will and volition. Alpha and in industry testers are paid and it is their job sometimes we are paid money other times there are some alphas that will simply reimburse with a free copy of the game. To further clarify exactly lets look at these things labeled as betas not early access which is similar and not the same. Destiny had a beta that paid no one to participate, There has been betas to call of duty which require someone to pre order/ PAY for access. and honestly there is hundreds of other examples. Beta doesn't necessarily imply that you are paying for access but it does almost always imply that you will be NOT PAID for participation. I will follow up two questions have you never played a beta version of a game before? and Have you ever been a paid product/game tester in the past for unreleased products?
Why is anyone expecting pssr to be good its first gen of a new tech its gonna be hard to optimize correctly. Not to mention look at the issues both nvidea and amd had with their first gen upscaling tech. It was so bad and honestly there is no chance of sony fixing it to work better than just running natively like normal. Its a downgrade due to both firmware and hardware limitations when using pssr. Tired of fanboys saying just wait it will be good eventually by then next gen will be here and they will all look like fools. Hopefully im wrong but i doubt it.

@gangs0846 I'm not comparing the tech 1 to 1. I'm comparing time it usually takes to optimize any new GPU tech for a more recent example look at the Intel tech in their cards. Still working on optimization and still miles better than anything pssr can put out.

DLSS is the only upscaler that is relevant, and actually delivers what it adverties, the rest of the upscalers are garbage and gimmicks

Ps5 pro does not have enough power to lock in 60 in demanding games and games are also consuming more ram
