  • In this video we install the N2MB Racing WOT Box into the Mazdaspeed 3. It allows you to Flat Foot Shift by cutting the Ignition system for an adjustable amount of time, allowing the next gear in the transmission to be synchronized. Keeping the accelerator pedal pressed down while shifting prevents boost pressure from being dumped which increases the vehicles acceleration potential. It can also be used as a Rev limiter using the same method of cutting ignition. This system is recommended when running aux fuel to prevent a lean burn. Enjoy the video! Please like, share, and subscribe :)

    Good stuff guys. You do a great job with these videos and keep it entertaining. What I’ll do is link your video in mine so people can see more about the installation aspect. I don’t have the patience for this half of the job lol. JUST REMEMBER: The features that the N2MB WOTBOX offers (such as NLS, Launch Control) via Spark cut are MOTORSPORTS FEATURES. Cutting off the ignition source for 2 Step and No Lift Shifting puts a lot of energy and heat into the exhaust side of the cylinder head and turbocharger in order to help keep boost up between shifts by driving the turbo with energy not consumed during normal combustion (due to unburnt fuel that was not ignited inside the cylinder). If you abuse this feature and use it aimlessly, expect to see significant wear with OEM exhaust valves and exhaust valve lash. It’s not uncommon for the exhaust valve lash to tighten up causing misfires and see bent exhaust valves when you abuse this feature. NLS also puts most turbochargers on their surge limit during a gear change with the boost kept up. In general it introduces a lot of heat to exhaust components that they normally would not be subjected to so just keep that in mind that it is a motorsports function...use it for its intended purpose when you’re “racing” the car. Not just to shoot flames and be the cool guy on the block. Use these functions for when they matter and count and you’ll enjoy it a long time! -Nishan

    I'm about to tackle the hid wiring for mine. It doesn't have HIDs from the factory. But all of the supporting wiring is there minus the harnesses for the motors inside the lights. It even has the harness for the level switch next to the dsc button. So I found some hid headlamp assemblies at the junkyard off a '05 Mazda 3 hatch. Should be a fun project for the day.

    I had a WOT Box installed in my Gen 2 MPS (South Africa). The no lift shifts worked perfect, but the "flames" or bangs I had to tune them in. By retarding the timing at the load and RPM the no lift shift occurs, I managed to manipulate the timing and fueling in such a way that I had massive bangs, not only on no-lift shift, but also on launch control, sounded mad. But yeah, as Nishan said, watch those exhaust valves, keep it to racing and it will be awesome ! Good job and video!

    If y’all are going to do this and are really scared to cut and everything, you could use those connections from hobby lobby that holds the two wire and is crimped to make a connection which requires no cutting the wires, it’s just not very space efficient and it’s recommended to tape it with electrical tape in order to avoid any problems whenever the weather comes down.
    But this is basically an alternative if you’re new to wiring and have no clue what to do.

    Awesome videos guys, just watched a few hours worth of your stuff! I noticed that you have the corksport battery box. Does that box give much clearance over the stock box? I want to get one as i have a 3.5 inch intake, and currently have my ecu ghetto mounted onto the fusebox, but dont want to downsize the battery. Cheers, and look forward to watching more of your content!

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  5 років тому

      Different intakes curve differently, so depending which intake you have the CS battery box might need to be trimmed slightly. The HTP 3 inch intake would rub the box so it needed to be trimmed. We recently installed the CS 3.5 inch intake and found that it curves around the box better, but the filter they provide would hit the front clip of the car, so we had to shorten the actual intake by cutting it. You could probably avoid this by installing a shorter filter. You can easily modify the stock battery box to gain more clearance, but it doesn't provide a solid spot to mount the ECU like the CS box. The CS box is also more aesthetically pleasing under the hood. As with anything after market, sometimes modifications need to be made :)

    • @Talentzz96
      @Talentzz96 5 років тому

      @@WannabeTuners Thanks for the info! I have the aluminium JBR intake which pushes on the stock battery box a little bit, so if the CS has a little more clearance, it shouldn't touch! • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  3 роки тому +1

      You should only use the WOT box as a rev limiter when running AUX fuel to prevent a lean burn. Otherwise the stock injector cut type rev limiter is fine :)

  • @seb42

    Would it be pointless to get a Wotbox if I already have a v3 accessport? If not, what additional benefits do I get? Thanks

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  5 років тому +1

      It really depends on whether u plan to run aux fuel or not. The stock ecu cuts the injectors to act as a rev limiter, and to limit the rpm during a flat foot shift. The problem is that the aux fuel system keeps spraying, which causes the engine to run lean. The wot box eliminates this by cutting the ignition system instead.

    Hey guys instead of cutting the wire and soldering it, is possible to use a quick tap or posi tab, right?

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  4 роки тому +1

      You totally could, however a solder joint is much better imo. The quick taps don't protect the electrical connection from the environment like a solder joint with heat shrink does :) Also, soldering penetrates deep into the wiring strands creating better electrical conductivity, and it holds up much better to vibrations and movement that may other wise break the connection

      You need to set the FFS rev limiter in the Cobb tune out off reach to like 9000 RPM, or it will interfere by cutting the stock injectors. If running aux fuel, you should also use the WOT box as a rev limiter, by setting the rev limit in the Cobb tune to about 9000 rpm, again out of reach. Is the WOT box more effective than the FFS that comes with the cobb accessport? Or are they the same?

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  4 роки тому

      The purpose for Flat Foot Shifting or No Lift Shifting is to prevent boost from being dumped in between a shift. Both the Accessport and WOT box cut engine power during a FFS to allow the transmission to synchronize the next gear, but they do it differently. The WOT box cuts the spark plugs, while the Accessport cuts the fuel injectors. If you are running an Aux fuel system it's recommended to run a WOT box for Flat Foot Shifting, and to serve as a rev limiter. The reason for this is because if only the fuel injectors are cut, rather than the spark plugs, the aux fuel may continue to combust with a lean air fuel mixture. This can cause the transmission to get locked out of the next gear, and potentially cause knock. Tuned by Nishan has a good video describing this on his UA-cam channel. I think both are effective, but if running aux fuel, use the WOT Box :)

    Is this a bad idea to install? if your current set up is as follows: Stock turbo, stock intercooler, stock dp, UR hi flow secondary cat, intake, tip, hpfp, e20 tune. I'm most worried about destroying my cats. I would love the performance benefit without the flames, dont really give a shit about aesthetics. love ur vids btw

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  4 роки тому +1

      It's mainly used for bigger turbos to reduce lag in between shifts, and when running aux fuel to prevent a lean burn when flat foot shifting. I personally wouldn't recommend it otherwise :)

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  4 роки тому +1

      @@brianvi6438 Yep no worries :) The FFS feature with the Cobb Accessport cuts the injectors rather than the ignition coils (as the WOT box does). Since you aren't spraying AUX fuel, there's no need to worry about a secondary fuel source continuing to spray during a NLS or when hitting the rev limiter, which could potentially cause the engine to run away on a lean burn and lock you out of the next gear. So using the NLS feature with the AP is still useful and safe in your case :)
