thanks for sharing, the lower front fender - the access hole, its suppose to have a grommet plug in it - least my '89 does , on the door crack by the 1/4 window - freaky TJ's crack in same spot though its plastic , to do with the door lock button and open from inside clasp

The problem is this area is hidden under the fender flares, so by the time you notice the problem its too late to catch the early stages of corrosion.
if that big ol hole is causing the problem could you patch it? or make a lower hole so stuff drains out better ?
I think someone mentioned that there is supposed to be a rubber/plastic plug to prevent debris from getting in there.
Are you using gas when you weld?
No, I am using a flux-core mig. Gas would be better with less slag but this seems to work
