We have an x100v, and totally agree with the liberator view of it. Too complicated for average person stepping up from a phone, but awesome minimalist camera for someone wanting to be liberated from a larger kit on a day-to-day. Also, “Your pork chops are getting cold!” Take’s right, you can’t let those baked pork chops get cold!

This is some serious editing my dude. Normally I just lurk around on UA-cam, but I gladly take some time to write a comment and compliment you on this high quality work. Incredible
Great observation about it being a camera for people looking for a step down in complexity. Coming from a slightly bulky mirrorless system, with half a dozen lenses, that's EXACTLY why I am dying to get a X100V. Just to have it on me at all times, ready to whip out as soon as I see something that catches my eye
I agree with everyone that this is by far the best X100V review from an entertaining standpoint but I also think you are simply correct in your findings. I love my Canon with its bit 24-105 f4l but you point that at someone or you take that on the street and it’s kinda weird. You’re a camera guy. But you have this little camera and it’s just kinda normal. No ones gonna look sideways. You’re just snapping a photo.
Really excellent take on the X100V. Just ordered mine... so, obviously I've been watching a lot of videos and this one stands out as a very different way to look at this camera.
IM NOT EVEN INTO FILM LIKE THAT but your theme on this vid was so heartwarming & calming! Perfect timing too! I wanted to get into photography and wanted this to be my first DSLR.
While I wait for my back-ordered X100V I'm watching every video about it, and this one is the best! I can't wait to use this camera after years of gear-itis burnout on my DSLR, and dissatisfaction with the casual, yet still too fiddly process of shooting on iPhone. I'm excited to have a camera fill the middle ground where I'm still taking deliberate photos, but not having to lug a backpack, or point huge intimidating lenses in people's faces.
Man when you said it’s actually a step down it brought a smile on my face I felt as if you are talking about me although I am using a Fuji system with different lenses but actually this is what I’m looking for and then the UA-cam recommends me your video so when I see it as a good omen.
One of the best camera reviews I’ve watched on here. Such a refreshing take. Instant subscribe and I might just have to purchase the X100V. I very much fall into the step down category. I always seem to leave the XT3 as it seems a hassle to take all the gear out with me.
I can’t believe you’ve only got just under 4K subs when your videos are this good. Just found your channel after I was watching other vids on the x100v. But man this video seems so professional. like the pacing is really good, and so is the videography and editing. Even the audio quality and levels is good. Can tell u put effort into your vids 👌🏼
Awesome video. I've had mine for a year now and am still in love. In fact, I'm now using it for video too. The dynamic range is. 14.5 stops... , and the Eterna profile is beautiful! I use it with a fluid monopod, which most people think is crazy... I love using the 35mm lens. and once you get the buttons set up to the controls you need, it's a joy to use... love it, love it - and this video is class, great music, great presentation :)

That's awesome. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on one of these. I loved the silver but the black one is kind of slick too in a stealthy way - Which one do you have?
The black one. I went on much the same journey of originally thinking the silver one then changing my mind and thinking the black was sleeker. The thing that fully swung it for me in the end is the exact point you make about the value of it being unobtrusive, on the street or in a social environment. I felt that the black one did this a bit better. I have to say I really love the wee thing.
It is a beautiful camera with the heart of a warrior, and It delivers in bucketfuls. I bought it for street photography and a go anywhere camera but I have started a project doing Landscapes, and why not, the 23mm lens sees roughly the same as my eyes do. Luckily this video randomly turned up in my recommended feed. Super awesome video and I just subbed to your channel. Damn, I missed out on this channel! Time to catch up
Great video! Your talking points made it feel like you were directing them to me which felt great bc I bought this to bring the “joy” back into photography & simplify my kit from a D810. 👍 sub’d!
I pre-ordered the V prior to release and have been using it ever since and just love it. I recently sold all my other Fujifilm gear except for the V and went Leica and pairing this combination just works for me. It's a great little camera that makes amazing images... Nice video...
@@TheGlassEyeTV Silver V (god it's sexy) and black Leica M. I've owned the original X100 and X100F in the past. Wish I would have kept that old X100...
Both, a toy that makes you want to take photos is a powerful tool in the right hands. I’ve seen imaging images on all types of media. Phones, 30 year old film cameras, and even a toy camera from an episode of digital rev. Have fun, explore more and stop starring at your phone every five minutes.
Yeah as a Fuji Fan Boy I was taken aback and offended, "Toy! WTF, the X100 cameras are awesome, man!" But the vid was excellent and you nailed the purposes of this camera. However, when I travel the X100S (I'm getting the V) is the only camera I take with me. It's an accessory yes but you can easily go for weeks and shoot only this camera and be perfectly content
Just watched a bunch of your videos. Great work. Subscribed. One question : in your a roll shot, do you only use the pavo tube as a key light or do you use another light out of frame?
That’s why it’s a “luxury” to some; since it requires to know and have a bunch but want one more specific need to be satisfied- let it be leisure or professional. Given it being not cheap, some people might just get a mirror-less that requires less knowledge but appears to be “upscale” compared to iPhone shots, especially if they have no professional pursuit but social media needs.
I feel like a DSLR is pretty intimidating shooting with as well. I feel some sort of expectation to need to perform or get a really good shot as a beginner. I think people also sort of have this expectation of you as well asking you to see the photos. I bought an X-E4 but still want a x100v. I feel like when I bring the X-e4 around and I would say that x100 would probably be the same, I just want to try to take photos. Just feels alot less pressure and more fun as a beginner.. Not sure if that makes sense but just how I feel I suppose.
I get you 100%. You bring out a big camera with full frame glass and it feels like "here we go!" for both yourself and the people around you. While I had the X100V, I just felt less precious about the photos and ended up capturing moments I otherwise wouldn't have.
I don’t want to carry around my near 8k Sony setup everywhere. Hell cost aside it’s just a canon. I can literally put the x100 in my sweatshirt pocket. Plus it’s just stupid fun to use.
Ok dude, I NEED YOU to keep doing these videos as consistent as u can, u are doing it so great, it almost felt like a movie? I dont know... Just keep doing it and i feel u are gonna success really quick on photography niche on yt
and also the "photo radar - looking for cool stuff to photograph" - this is sooooo on point! I keep telling this quote to my friends and they cant understand this feeling
We have one of these set to B+W with a proper blue filter (yes blue for best skin tones) for our weddings to compliment our GFX100 - in fact it might be fair to say that on an average shoot it gets nearly as much use as its big sis - lovely film I have subbed, liked and stood outside and shouted it out. I think the dog next door will want one now as well!!
Nice review! I have been shooting Nikon SLRs for years, and I found myself scouring youtube for info on all of the Fujifilm settings. I agree that this is a camera to take with you everywhere and have fun with. No lugging backpacks full of lenses and filters and bodies... just grab it and go.

What a great review, really enjoyed this... I own one and completely agree, it's a 'Liberator'!!
Thanks Ross
The animation adds 100+ cool points to the video !!
Awesome. I need all the points I can get
Luckily this video randomly turned up in my recommended feed. Super awesome video and I just subbed to your channel. Damn, I missed out on this channel! Time to catch up
Thanks man. Fortunately not too much to catch up on 👌🏼
Great video! Your talking points made it feel like you were directing them to me which felt great bc I bought this to bring the “joy” back into photography & simplify my kit from a D810.
👍 sub’d!
Exactly! It's truly "The Liberator"!
Amazing review, hats off man !
Great video - so well put together with your examples and explanations. You deserve way more subs!
So glad I found you!
Thanks Trent. Appreciate that!
This is a "Blow up" video. Buckle up sir, you're about to blow up.
Thanks man 👊🏼! Share share share!
I have 2 Nikon z6’s and 2 s lenses . I have an x100v for fun and I love it.
I believe it. Definitely miss having it slung around me wherever I am.
Loved the vid and love flat six classics.
Thanks Mark 👊🏼
Peter’s shop is amazing!
I pre-ordered the V prior to release and have been using it ever since and just love it. I recently sold all my other Fujifilm gear except for the V and went Leica and pairing this combination just works for me. It's a great little camera that makes amazing images... Nice video...
Which colour did you go for?
@@TheGlassEyeTV Silver V (god it's sexy) and black Leica M. I've owned the original X100 and X100F in the past. Wish I would have kept that old X100...
That’s funny I would have guessed the opposite, the silver Leica and black Fuji. I’m definitely leaning towards the silver as well.
@@TheGlassEyeTV I wanted a silver Leica, but I found a black one at a good price ssoooo...
Ahh makes sense
this video right here just sold me to purchase one now.
I'm sure you'll be happy with it.
Wow! Your Chanel could have 1000x more subs. Such great content
Thanks Joel!
Both, a toy that makes you want to take photos is a powerful tool in the right hands. I’ve seen imaging images on all types of media. Phones, 30 year old film cameras, and even a toy camera from an episode of digital rev. Have fun, explore more and stop starring at your phone every five minutes.
What a fantastic video 👏🏻👏🏻 I have the x100v and this is spot on
Maaaan, another great video.
I've been enjoying your content a lot. Keep it up!
Thanks Kleber!
What a cool review! So enjoyable
Thanks Sebastian!
You’re cool!! One of my fav videos on X100V. Great job!!
hahaha thanks Miron. Not sure about the cool part though...
a year down the line - ill be proud to say I was early to hop on board this channel.
Appreciate that Jason!
Wow phenomenal production quality and format here! Love this take on the x100v
thanks so much!
Thanks man. I tend to switch it up for each vid, but yes, I think for this one it was just the tube.
really enjoyed this review man, thanks
Thank YOU for watching!
You’re right. In some ways it is
I hardly ever leave comments but wow this video was so beautifully done.
Appreciate that Paolo! As a tiny channel these comments mean a lot!
Fantastic video. Well done and right on spot
Very much appreciate that!
Wow, dude, you should work for fuji marketing… nice video man.
Great video mate!

WOW
*I resonated with this message so much!*
More of him :) and more of you of course :)
Lots more of him on his channel BigHeadTaco! I'm sure he'll make more appearances here too.
I don’t want to carry around my near 8k Sony setup everywhere. Hell cost aside it’s just a canon. I can literally put the x100 in my sweatshirt pocket. Plus it’s just stupid fun to use.
The x100f is my “restaurant” camera.
Thanks Boris. Really appreciate it! Yeah - my entire IG changed after borrowing the X100V - Just capturing the world around me, not only client work.
Hahah thanks man!!! All dogs should own one.
Nice review! I have been shooting Nikon SLRs for years, and I found myself scouring youtube for info on all of the Fujifilm settings. I agree that this is a camera to take with you everywhere and have fun with. No lugging backpacks full of lenses and filters and bodies... just grab it and go.
Do you have the X100V or just considering it?
@@TheGlassEyeTV Purchased in April... sold my Coolpix A... the X00V is not quite as pocketable as the Coolpix, but it is *much* better in pretty much every way.
@@GetOffMyyLawn Yeah, defintely not pocketable, but it looks so good, I'd be happy to just keep it on my side. There seems to be quite the aftermarket for straps, pouches and accessories
@@TheGlassEyeTV It does look good... I got my first "Is that a Leica?" a few weeks ago.
Lovely review, really enjoyed your thought process. Your review was also the final nail on the coffin. Gonna head over to Broadway Camera today itself :)
👋🏼fellow Vancouverite! Are you going for black or silver?
@@TheGlassEyeTV hehehe 👋! I ended up going for the silver. It just looked so beautiful when I saw it in person.
That’s what I’m leaning towards too
This is fantastic. I shoot with the V all the time, actually make UA-cam videos about it. Your videos kick my videos ass 🤣. Great job!
What a great video. Engaging and extremely interesting even though I own the X100V!
Thanks Nate
Exactly! Great video. I'm thinking of upgrading from an iPhone (and GoPro that I use for sailing videos) to the X100V or similar so that I can take more (better?) stills. Based on this video, I should be able to get some great snaps of my Forest Green Metallic Porsche Boxster! PS: I also really like black and white! Season's greetings from Montreal.
Merry belated Christmas from Vancouver. I briefly lived in Montreal when I was young and also visited often for work at a previous job. I love that city!
Super niche hipster camera that should be $799. I will buy one when it’s the same $350 I paid for the X100T. 😂
But then I’d also suggest just grabbing the XE4 with a pancake. I have such an emotional issue with the X100V hahah. Sick review!
I think there’s definitely a “luxury/cool” tax on this camera. Btw I still get notes about “Patrick sent me” 👊🏼
@@TheGlassEyeTV yeah fuji has a hipster tax for sure - my main client photo camera is still the XT3. and fuji gave me an XE4 ive been thoroughly enjoying but there’s something about the X100V that just rubs me the wrong way. i think i articulated it better in Jesse Driftwood’s review but its hard to explain why i love the older ones and not the new ones.
and i will keep sending folks to you!
That’s the video where I discovered you. I think that’s why I make the toy/tool argument. I want it though. Maybe I’ll set a YT target - 10k subs and I’ll get it. Or 5….
This was such an awesome take on the X100V. Loved it!
Jonas! Man, I’ve spend many hours on your website. First place I go when I hear about a new Fuji camera - very cool to see you’re checking out my video 👊🏼
@The Glass Eye You’re so kind man! Once again, thank you so much for this video. One of, if not the, best video on the X100V
Hey Jonas! I'm working on getting an XPro3 from Fujifilm NA to review here on the channel. Seeing you helped develop the camera, would you be open to a short cameo appearance in the video (via video conference)? If so I can get in touch.
I thought this was going to be another generic hipster video with a film LUT slapped on it but it was way more than that. Thumbs up deserved.
glad you enjoyed it
3:20 Littl Bro Took an Epic Photo
Ah that was a great watch and a great conclusion. I don't have the x100v but my x-e3 serves the same purpose you describe here. Fujifilm have re lit that fire for photography for me, I have way more fun shooting these days!
Thanks. Just sad I had to send it back to Fuji.
I'm lucky enough to have both the xe3 and the x100v. They complement each other well, with pretty much the same button layout and options. Xe3 when I just know I'm going to need the zoom or the 35mm 1.4. x100v for everything else.
You got it.
