it's 2022 and arguably the 2012 display is still THE BEST one we've seen. 2012 was such a damn good year, the hype was amazing and the display at the start of the year truly set the tone.
From a timing and music synchronization standpoint this was the best display certainly at that time and I haven’t seen any other New Year displays as good as this since…The pause and restart during ‘Firestarter’ is incredible and they managed to sync the barge rockets to each individual musical bar of ‘You really got me’ by the kinks…..the ‘Nuclear’ multiple launches at the end to ‘Faithless’ is absolutely un-rivaled….
London's 2020 display was this good with sync as well ngl, down to the beat. 2019, 2017 and 2016 had pretty good syncs as well. Honestly thats what makes London a better show than Sydney's, it feels proper. Sydney's show is brilliant, but it suffers from a horrid taste in music.
Thank you for noticing the amount of work that went into this. I started curating this playlist weeks before inside a small room at BBC Radio 1, when I was a DJ there. I saw it as a mix between a DJ set and a film soundtrack. It needed to have drama and anthems, represent the best of British whilst repping the World. Playing Nigerian afrobeat by D'Banj and a Punjabi remix of Jump Around gave me immense pleasure.

I've had a pretty rough time since 2012 so I like to go back to these 2012 videos when I'm feeling down as it reminds me of a time when my life was simpler and happier but its also reminds me of who i used to be. All that youth, innocence and enthusiasm for life. It really snaps me out of the mood I'm in. Its like the past me is giving present day me a shake and saying "Yeah things haven't gone the way you hoped but that doesn't mean you should stop. Only you can get yourself out of this hole you have fallen into. Go live!"
I remember 2012 so well, I got my 2nd dog Wally and met 1940 in the Cardiff castle tunnels when I was turning 10. Wally is almost 13 now and he’s doing really well despite a few illnesses he almost died with at least twice and the war is still with me almost 12 years later. 2012 was such a great year for me
My favourite fireworks display of all time. I'd had such an awful 2011, that when I watched this the first time in 2012, I cried. Such a beautifully choreographed display. Don't think you can top this one! Watched it so many times Happy 2017 everyone!
I return to this display often and as the years go by since, I still haven't seen one which tops it. Every time I watch it, it's like seeing it again for the first time. In my opinion, this is by far one of if not the best fireworks displays ever created in combination with the music mix and it's synchronisation. I would pay good money to have this recreated so I could see it LIVE like so many lucky people had the opportunity to do, even if it was in the millions like it was here.
This is still by far the best firework display London ever done. I still watch it even in Oct 2021. The music and fireworks sync was spot on.... even made my eyes water with happiness... sounds sad I know.

My fireworks in St Julian’s where I live go absolutely nuts and my sister starts filming them from my bedroom window. I can’t wait to have my first New Year’s Eve 2024 with United 93 and I’ll be paying tribute to the heroes of flight 93 itself exactly one second from midnight telling the heroes how much I miss them and I’m sure they’ll be looking down on me and my sister that night. It’s going to be incredibly emotional

Yep and it amazing how much the London Eye is incorporated into the show when I remember a time it didn't exist. Works great that the buildings are so integrated but the pessimist in me wonders if someone would try to do the gunpowder plot again but hiding the explosives amongst all the fireworks and people would be none the wiser....

I liked 2016 they were good, but me and my family had some friends over and we didn't realise we were on ITV 1 so when it showed the fireworks it had no music and without the music its boring!! :D

I didn't see this at the time, but that was INCREDIBLE. They went above and beyond that year, because all the eyes of the world would be on London. Seeing fireworks firing out of Big Ben was such a wow moment, loved that they timed it to the bongs! And all the music and choreography was on point. Just when you think it was all over, they bring out the big guns. What a finale!

Firework designer Darryl Fleming chose the fireworks using his knowledge of how high and long they burn for. They had a "hugely complex" 300-page cue list with 5,500 triggers for each of the fireworks. Record viewing figures of 12.6m, a million more than 2011. Hopefully 2016 will be just as good.
Ah, the halcyon days of 2012 in the UK when everyone got on and we were 6 months away from holding the 30th Olympic Games. The eyes of the world looked down on our tiny island and embraced us. Now, 12 years later, it's totally different which is such a shame.

This years was incredible!!! Good job by whoever choreographed that!! Music choices were great, and the fireworks were in time with it. The London Eye is definitely the 2nd best thing to launch fireworks off of.. Sydney Harbour Bridge being No.1

This is still the best firework display they've done. 2012 was such a good year of things to look forward to. The Olympics (which I had the privilege of attending the paralympics.) The diamond jubilee for Her Majesty.
Yeah it was such a good year!!! I live in wales but I watched it on the tv lol
I got to go to multiple Olympic events though!!! So grateful, it really was a good year.
10 years ago I would have met my beloved 1940 and we just celebrated our 10 years anniversary

This years was incredible!!! Good job by whoever choreographed that!! Music choices were great, and the fireworks were in time with it. The London Eye is definitely the 2nd best thing to launch fireworks off of.. Sydney Harbour Bridge being No.1
