Gucci Trashcan oh yeah!!! Thanks I know there was one African American girl who was a a Kpop group too but they said she was the first and completely forgot about Tasha
I think all Koreans who appreciate K-hip hop was waiting for this one. She is the standard that all korean hip hop artists especially female artists are measured by. You guys should check out her husband Tiger JK or his group Drunken Tiger. The King of K -hip hop
The reason she had to wear white makeup and pretend to be 19 was because of the strict broadcasting rules in Korea back in the day. You had to be of a certain age to perform on tv and of course she wouldn't have been allowed to perform on as many stages if she'd embraced her dark skin.
Yoon Mi-rae is the Godmother of R&B Hip Hop Soul in Korea. Her story is equally inspiring. If there ever was a rags-to-riches story in Korea. Yoon would be that story. Girl had so many obstacles yet persevered. Being married to her husband for 7 years in secret. Fighting through his debilitating illness with Transverse Myelitis." Which is an incurable disease that can lead to paralysis and other life-threatening effects. Being told by her father growing up to hide her mixed heritage. Yet managing to fight through it all and becoming a living Legend. Seriously this would make such a good movie. :b
I remember disliking my dark skin for about 5 minutes when I was a very little girl. My mom shut it down quick before the self-loathing was able to take root. After being teased in school I told my mother I hated my skin color, that it was ugly. She asked me, "Do you think I'm ugly? What about your father? Your brother? Sisters? Cousins?" I told her, "of course not." And that was the truth. That was the beginning and swift end to my skin color struggles. Did I still get teased? Yes. Did I become an adult and still get a bunch of backhanded insults from co-workers, employers and just people in general? Yup. But I didn't internalize it. Because if I believe that my dark skin makes me inherently unattractive or less than, I believe the same about those that share my complexion. There's no getting around that logic and to think such a thing about my beautiful family brakes my heart. It hurts more than any degrading thing society says to me. I feel very lucky and privileged to have escaped this particular insecurity (I got others). For all those still going through it; you're beautiful and I love you. Stay healthy and safe. ❤❤
i met her, you know. she's beautiful inside and out. a wonderful person. her aura strikes hard, so i was so scared to talk to her at my audition. but she was like a mom, she was like 'hello, sweetie!' and i had her signature. pissed i lost it, cause i moved so much since then.
She’s amazing! Her rap style reminds me of Salt n Pepa-so confident and socially conscious too. Her singing voice is a total dream too. She has a better voice than most lead vocals.
she's a QUEEN and I'm so glad she end up with Tigerjk they are just so great together, I literally respect them so much, she did HISTORY in korean not even being fully korea which we know is pretty difficult EVEN more (sadly there's a lot of racism) being half black, in no other country like the asian ones are THAT obsessed with white skin so I can't even imagine what she felt growing up...it breaks my heart She did a collab stage with Lee Seunghoon and Kang Seungyoon from Winner please if you guys could react to it💙🙏 loving your reactions as always💞
it don't get any better than T. this girl is genuine, humble and nothing but woozing with talent. been watching and listening to her since she was with UPTOWN, TASHANNIE and T.
She is 1st generation rapper in Korea but still no.1 female rapper , boombap queen and also highest class rapper Korea ever had. she sings, raps like all-round player. If she came out in 2020 she must be more famous because of SNS
She debuted as a group called “uptown” in 1998 or 1999. The debut song was called “meet again (다시 만나줘)” check out the performance video, she was 13 at that time but she was told to say she was 19.
I love her and Tiger Jk. She features on several Drunken Tiger tracks and they are so good. Drunken Tiger is OG Korean hip-hop. I had their cds at 13 and I didn’t speak Korean, and I really felt the power of their music!
can't believe i've only found this till now. thanks for reacting to this. such a great song and an amazing artist. Her husband, Tiger JK and her is how I got into hiphop in the first place. Crazy how k-hiphop have grown since then! And really... her live rapping is NEXT LEVEL
I am so glad you guys dipped into Queen T and Tiger JK~ you guys are fans of old skool hip hop, so you will respect their music because they are 100% hip hop!
In a genre of manufactured music, it's refreshing to see someone speak the truth. My favorite mfbty songs are definitely Angel (another song about life)and bang diggy bang bang (a quirky song with Indian beats). My favorite Yoon Mirae song is Get it In.
She is a legend in the music business ! She also sings OSTs for kdramas. She is married to Tiger who is a rapper. They also do music together! She doesn’t get enough credit for contributions to KMUSIC.
I’m Sure that I’m going to repeat certain things because I did not bother to read the comments. But when it comes to my girl T, I get real excited because she means so much to me. Yoon Mi Rae a.k.a. Tasha a.k.a. T A.k.a. Jordans Omma and Tiger JK’s Wife is a great artists whether she’s rapping or singing. Her life has never been easy as she recounted in the song black happiness. What she doesn’t tell you is that she fell in love with Tiger JK and for seven years they had to hide their relationship because no matter how much Korean blood she has in her she will always be a foreigner with AfricanAmerican blood. Tiger JK was born in Korea but was sent to Southern California and eventually he moved back to Korea to pursue music and had much fame with Drunken Tiger! Funny thing was Tasha ( Natasha was to hard for the Korean public to pronounce so her name is called Tasha now when she’s not Yoon Mi Rae) Tiger JK right now he is suffering from a nervous system disorder that limits his mobility and Tasha is his main caregiver or she will be if he ever sits down long enough but right now he’s living it up touring when he can, singing and giving us tutorials on how to make toilet paper from newspapers. LOL They have a son named Jordan. he’s a beautiful bilingual boy he’s very funny and I’m pretty sure he’s out for his parents spotlight. I can’t remember if you did a reaction but check out the last Drunken Tiger song “Timeless” ft. RM (of BTS) also check out “Bucku Bucku” by MBTY also ft RM, also check out Yoon Mi Rae “You and me” ft Junoflo, & “Kawi Bawi Bo”
This is a great song. I didn't expect it to hit me like it did, having to a degree, the same experience l, being mixed myself I used to also bleach my skin when I moved to the US to fit in, stopped speaking my native language, dealt with a lot of self loathing and depression. Been doing a lot of soul searching and trying to rediscover myself and my roots but its hard at times. This brought tears to my eyes. Great song and react.
Glad you finally listened to Yoon Mirae. Whether you do reaction videos or listen to her on your own time I hope you check out more songs by her. My favorites are Kawi Bawi Bo (rock, paper, scissors) and her iconic song Baby Bye Bye from back when she was known as Tasha or T. Baby Bye Bye is an audio-only video. If you like the song you might want to watch one of the fancams of girl group The Ark busking Baby Bye Bye in a park by the Han River several years ago. My fav is the one where rapper Euna Kim is rocking a Say No to Racism t-shirt. I actually listen to The Ark's version more often than Yoon Mirae's. Yoon Mirae, Tiger JK and Bizzy were featured on Euna's 2014 song Without You Now prior to her debut with The Ark. It has a great old-school groove I think you'll like.
This was the tune that got me into Korean hip hop back about 15 years ago or whenever it came out. For those that dont know Tasha is classed as The Queen of Korean Hip Hop. She also sings and does ballads and r&b. She sadly hasnt released much solo stuff over the years with just one album in the last 10 years.
fyi. she said she was 19 when she was 13 to be an artist. her groups name was "uptown". u should check it out as well. in those days kids were not allowed to be on tv as an artist in Korea. thats why she says she was 19 at 13
have you done 'lee michelle - without you' mv yet? she's half black half korean and grew up in korea. she was bullied alot. :'( her song always makes me cry.
Please also react to Yoon Mi Rae's "Get It In". It was released 10 years ago. It has both an English and Korean version. I suggest you watch the English version as she raps in English so good. And the mv is lit as well. You won't regret it watching it. 🥰🥰
I learned the hard way how harsh Koreans can be. I was born in America and visited Korea for the first time in 2015. I was treated incredibly bad over there because I spoke broken Korean and they immediately knew I was American. I was denied service at a few spots, cussed out by a waitress under her breath, got called a traitor by a drunk dude, and even had an old man try to fight me for something HE did wrong. But the younger generation is way more accepting and open minded so the future is hopeful for minimizing the prejudice.
of course she has vocals...she is korean n black! soul from the black n seoul from the korean... lol beautiful guys... this shit makes gives me tears of happiness... how she has kept the faith n grow into the strong woman she is today....i love these growth stories...
I am late on this by only 2 years. So you probably won't see this comment. But the Korean music industry actually asked her to suppress her father's DNA!! They said just say you're Korean only... So yeah I can only imagine moving to Korea at such a young age (10 i think) and then going thru all the crap and racism. I still get goose points hearing this song.
There is a public fact in korea.
top5 female rappers.
1. Yoon Mi Rae
2. T
3. Tasha
4. Jordan's mom
5. Tiger JK's wife
you also forgot #6: ex female member from duo tashannie

Who told you that? She used to perform with her natural skin in Uptown.
She is a great rapper and vocalist. There are many songs that show her vocal.

That’s real. The kids growing up these days shouldn’t have to face what we faced in our youth.
That was deep. Loved everything you said. I think the youth should have a better shot dealing with it.
That was deep. Loved everything you said. I think the youth should have a better shot dealing with it.
Untruth should not be permitted to be internalized.
@dellyspice I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
She is an OST queen if u watch korean dramas she did a lot of soundtracks
...yes, e.g. one of her songs in tv series "Stranger" I.e. "Lost" is epic 🤘🙂👍
She also did song in itaewon class
Also did one for CLOY I believe.
Her father's voice in the back is so sweet!
Shes the most respected female rapper in korea. And male rappers look up to her as a legend rapper (regardless of gender)
