i prefer the "drop" method.After applying solder,you heat the board from the bottom,and when the solder melts ,you drop the new port.Works also on console hdmi ports.

I kinda wonder if the laptop was working on the other usb port ? With the cable connected and pressing the power button you could see it jumped to 12V.
USA wire colours on the battery connector, perhaps (black positive, white negative).
1 weeks is fast when ordering parts off eBay here in Canada. Usually it is at least 2 weeks to get parts in from the USA. The battery had + and - ve markings showing which wire was positive and negative did it not?
Asus do some weird things, always slim port Ic here and h1b2 sometimes.
Time to get a camera on the solder iron and hot air station?

hey my laptop has onboard 8gigs ram i am wondering is it possible to upgrade soldered ram in laptops, i belong to mobile repairing field and in mobiles it is indeed possible to upgrade ram and storage by replacing emmc or ufs chip but it is not very convenient way to do maybe in laptops it is common to upgrade those smds ?

Sorin, when you connected the usb charger in the other port at first you were getting 5V and then it started to delivered 14V. Proper strange
In usb c the volts rise according to the needs of the laptop.
it starts from 5 volts and goes to 15 volts.
You are far more experienced than I am overall but perhaps not in this. For electrical work, black is positive. It is not that uncommon to see it used according to this convention occasionally in electronics
Hi Sorin (from Ro), i have a hp ryzen3 7320u, and it has the following fault: i turn it on, display start, start booting, display off, coolers from inside remaing powered. I turn it off. This happens random for 10-15 attempts until it starts in windows and then works normally , you can restart it then , shut it down and starts like it has nothing. I noticed that happen when laptop is "cold" . Can you please advise ? Thank you very much for your answer on this! Any advice would help.
have you tried reinstalling windows?
@@maklogetrich2378 hi, yes ,tried also bios update. It s not a windows problem. Laptop start for a few seconds and then screen goes off ,but coolers remain powered, you have to switch off manually. Try this for 10-15 rounnds and then goes in windows and behave normally

Low melt solder? why not clean every hole and pads put port in place and solder with a high quality one?
You beat me to it. Why not use soldering wick to clean up old solder and then apply fresh one? Instead, this is a mess of old and new solder. No idea, if one is lead free with higher melting temperature and the applied one is with lead.
Asus motherboards have electrolytic capacitors marked the opposite way.

As an electrician and electronics hobbyist , either black or red is fine for positive. If it was green or white I'd be confused.
On the black tape you can see "+" and "-" ...... peel the black tape off to get to the "+" and the "-"
And the funny looking color cable of the battery connector ... its clear plastic ....you're looking
at copper wire wrapped in clear plastic.
Nice rapair , but i just asking why would you buy a dam Chromebook just why ? with the money for a new one you could buy a realy decent used laptop !
