I also did this but found that the edges on the cut tire used as a liner caused holes in the inner tube eventually. I suggest wrapping the cut tire in an old inner tube to protect it from the rough edges of the cut tire that is used as liner.

Hi Roger! I was diagnosed with macular degeneration about two months ago. The exam report said something about my being in the 12% range which I didn't look up. They prescribed a very expensive vitamin combination called PreserVision Areds 2 that is $37 for a bottle of 120 soft gels that is supposed to slow it down. I don't notice any visual effect yet. They gave me the brochure with the checkered pattern test to be alert of change and go to ER if the pattern skews. I see halos around lights at night but was told that's my cataracts gradually forming. For the macular degeneration now they want me back in 9 months instead of the former 12. The doctor was in a hurry as always and went. Is the 12% range mean it's all minor? I made copies of the brochure to mail to all of my siblings. Our late mother had it and had the laser treatment at about age 86 and never had it at 68. I have no driving restrictions but can't afford a car and commute by bike and city bus. I'm thinking it's hereditary. Is that true? I know this doesn't relate to bikes but thought I'd ask. I am concerned about it on and off and get into denial. I take Alreds two times a day as prescribed. By the way, did you hear that swish sound when Mike Fede did the ride test with the Armour guard installed? Have you used it?

UPDATE. I knew I read it somewhere, so I got out my Tannus installation guide and on page 3 under Tips For Installing Tannus Armour it states (It is common for the Amour to compress over time. It still is providing shock absorption and puncture resistance but will perform better when properly maintained. To minimize compression deflate the tires while not use. This allows the Armour compound to rebound to provide ideal performance.) So does that mean when your not riding your bike, your suppose to let the air out of the tires? I'm sorry but that's not happening. I don't know how everyone else feels, but if I would have known that earlier, I would not have purchased the Armours.
We recently bought two new extremely heavy Riese and Muller E-bikes from Germany sporting Schwalbe tires and took them on a 200km journey. We got three flats and had to end the trip about 10km's from home in the back of a van. Fitted the Tannus liners and have since done nearly 2000kms in two months with zero flats so far. Can't recommend these bad boys enough
I used Tannus Armour on my front and rear tires and still got flats. One of the flats was caused by a small metal shaving. The Tannus Armour is thick but it compressed down to about 1/4 of an inch after I rode the bike a few hundred miles. I was not able to ride a short distance with a flat tire as Tannus advertises. Riding with a flat tire would have damaged the rim. Since putting on Schwalbe MARATHON PLUS MTB HS 468 mountain bike tires, I have ridden over 4,000 miles without a flat. They are thick enough to not get a flat if an object as long as a tack is stuck in the tire. I also used the compressed Tannus Armour inside the Schwalbe tires for extra protection. The Schwalbe MARATHON PLUS MTB HS 468 mountain bike tires are much heavier than standard tires, but the protection is worth it to me.
@@michaeljohn7467 I have had Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tires on my mountain bike for about a year and a half. I have ridden over 4,000 miles without any flats. They are thick enough to prevent flats from objects the length of a tack. I also have used the Tannus Armour at times for extra protection. I also cut the stem out of an old inner tube, and put it between the inside of the tire and the inner tube that is inflated instead of using the Tannus Armour.
You could put a couple of tire liners and it will protect the tube. Either that or I would flex seal the inside of the tire wall for some better sealing
Back in the 1990s i had similar product on my bike it was called Mr Tuffies tyre linner and it was great, before I was going through a least 1 to 3 tubes a week and after I fitted the tyre linners no more puchers .
If were throwing numbers i havent had a single flat since switching to effetto sealant a few years back. Light tyres too. Stans was just separating and leaving orange liquid in the wheel and no sealant in place. Effetto lasts a good 3 months before it needs a topup. Would like some more burp security though, just not at these weights.
Back in the 80s, I had those pool noodle tubes for my BMX. There were issues though... Pedalling was a lot harder and the ride was quite uncomfortable.
Those green slime innertubes with a schwalbe marathon keeps me pretty puncture free. To prove the point when the farmers cut the hedges by me i get around eight punctures on average I've not had one.
I remember in my teens we used to put old bold BMX tires by cutting off the wire parts of the tire before putting the thinner tire inside the fat tires.
Is the swish sound I'm hearing the friction or rubbing between the protective material and the inside of the tire, meaning is that a tradeoff is it creates a loud swishing sound? Also, how would it work in Minnesota winters? Also did the tire pass the flat test maybe several hours later with a very slow leak?
looks like a pretty good thing for beginners to have for sure. when i first started in my first month i had like 4 flats and 2 of them happened in a single day. awesome video 👍
No punctures yet. It is the most thin at that part but the majority of your flat tires are going to come from surface area. Suggestion Mike. It's a GREAT video, by the way! When doing the puncture test Try Some nails in a piece of wood *(2 X 4) or *(Piece of plywood with a bunch of nails) to roll over with the tires on various bikes = 29'er - 27.5'er - bike park bike. So much of what humans do is all about money as the driver or motivating way. *(off-topic but relative about trust) The pandemic was the #1 validating happening to give everyone an awakening. A jolt. An astonishing aftershock. To show, as people awakened, that our systems were broken centuries and centuries ago, from the very start. This will gain the trust of your audience-not that they don't like you now- your videos are GREAT and informative! Truly are! I'm just trying to help with critic of the presentation. Last suggestion. It would be advantageous to have a digital scale to weigh the various tires *(state the brand type etc. ) with and without the insert of the no-flat insulator inner liner. In this manner, racers, weekend warriors, mountain bikers, and backpackers can readily gauge the importance of weight added to any race or bike-packing trip. Lastly, no offence, but the video should focus more on the test itself and not include so many extra things. However, it did add to the natural authenticity of being live on location. Nice work on the rescue! Good job! I do first responder work myself at MVA and MVC accidents. It's Called Accident Scene Management. So GOOD stuff! I believe ~ the focus is on tire puncture resistance. This way, the video is concise and to the point-no frills type thingy. (Y) Right!? I'm just saying. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Future suggestions for videos. 1. Show the importance of matching the tire with the rim for quick flat changing during a race or a touring ride when a storm breaks out. The rain or snow starts coming down right when you need to fix a flat. I believe ~ The importance of matching tire and rim can not be understated. Some riders are so concerned about getting the proper tire for the riding and the terrain that they, I believe, forget to match the ease of the bead going on and off during flat tire repairs, side wall repairs, and tire changes. Maybe some do that in the racing area? 2. Sidewall repairs ~ Would be nice to see for testing. (Y) thumbs up. 3. Testing Hydrophobic coatings on the market. For mitigating mud on the bike. And the processes associated. That might be a tough nut to crack? ;) 4. Durability of various tapes used on the market. This is especially applicable for bike repairs. I'm presently using Gorilla tape, for example, for a breached sidewall right at the sewing or stitching on a Schwalbe Ice Spike Pro. Two years of constant year-long riding are my test. 5. When to use a Dyno-hub vs using batteries that add extra weight. Advantages. Disadvantages.
I bought 2 different Walmart bikes to get to work and both of them had with tires pop on the way back from Walmart. One of the bikes got me home but then they was flat n idk how lmao but yeah razor scooter it is lol I just want to get to work dawg
try two part symmetric rims, that you can fit solid tires directly into, just keep the two rim halves together with the wheel mounting lug screws, or more.
What is this product called ? Armour tire tube ? I need this product so badly for my trek marlin 5 mtn bike, and my mongoose malice fat tire bike. Both are very problematic right now. Neither hold air in the front tire. Both have sliced nozzles. Wondering if I should just widen the insertion holes on the wheel, and then surround the gap area with alien tape. Bike shops never address the root of the problem. They're all too happy to have me purchasing new tire tubes on a very frequent basis. : (
id like to see riding over some 3 inch nails and screws..... i have to deal with that riding 30km a day to work every day. puncture every few days. tried tyre liners which didnt stay in place so i went solid. every day use riding to the shops this would be ok but for busy roads/highways. maybe this with the slime products but....
The giant pink armor works very well I hope you enjoy it it's not a 100% I've had 3 flats in 5800 miles . Why not even 24 hours ago I had my third flat. I just put brand new tires on 2vweeks ago (red Rock bicycle shop in Hurricane Utah. they put my armor, my pink armor in wrong 🙄 it's all good now and I even have some of that green slime in there now. bring it on goat heads, bring it on nasty rotten thorns. Easy on the the Puncture material on the road. I think the Tanis armor can handle it. 😊
your're doing it wrong, first you have to put the tannus armour inside the tire mounted on the wheel, and then add your tube as always The way you did it it's starting to build a house with the roof xD
Doesn’t work at all. The Tannus armor gets flat and thins down to nothing after a few weeks due to the air pressure in the tube. I got flats using these from basic thorns.
I had a problem with goat head thorns here in Spain so I chopped up a 10mm thick yoga mat into 2" strips for liners, squirted in some anti puncture fluid to, now I go anywhere & the cost to do 2 26" bikes was 16€

@@tr1707 I'm sure it would work for some things because it's so thick. If I had it in my front tire and it went flat, I could probably ride it home because there isn't much weight on the front. That's why I put a solid rubber tire on the front. I have to be careful going over bumps for fear of breaking a wheel because the tire is hard, but no more flats there.
Used tannus on my 4.4" tyres got 2 punctures in 2 years - 1) a Big big 1.5" thorn 2) A badge with a long metal pin. Always in the rear tyre - front tyre seems to dislodge objects on the ground ready for rear tyre to get punctured :(. I ran too high pressure 30psi with the tannus and that makes it much much less effective - still 2 punctures in 2 years is pretty damn good and so it's best to run as low as pressure as is possible with the tannus.
as time pass by as you continue to put miles on the tire with tannus on it, it will eventually flatens out due to centrifugal force. I would add flat out or a liner for added bonus.
I have been riding bikes since 1967. (road and touring, not bmx) This looks too good to be true. I don't know how you could put that drill bit so far in without puncturing the tube. This looks more like a magic show than scientific fact. If these things really work I would like to install them in my 700-23 tires. These tires are a BITCH to mount even without liners. Sometimes I have to have the bike shop use a tire jack to do it.
I wish you'd at least say WHY? Dude, if you want ppl to believe you you should say why. They're not bad. But for the price I do agree they're a waste. You could use Slime, a liner and a pool noodle and still only pay 25 bucks to get better protection. It's just a bit more work.
It’s not that good, I just got a flat tire last and walked 7 miles home with the bike. For small puncture maybe a good thing. I had a 7” nail passes piercing my tire.
It'd be good to see you do some runs on a MTB trail, then try again with these things and see if it makes any difference for comfort and that sort of thing
The real headache is a flat on an electric bike, and disconnecting all that crap, from drive to brake, hoping you get it back on adjusted right. And oh, do you have the right-size tube? Is it available at Walmart? Ten minute job becomes a possible hour-long nightmare. I've been using Slime but what they don't tell you is it eventually blocks the Schrader valve, so keep a bag of them handy since you'll be changing them.
A trick I use to do, was cut the tread off an old Tyre and it fit inside my bike tyre which thorn proofed the wheel.
I also did this but found that the edges on the cut tire used as a liner caused holes in the inner tube eventually. I suggest wrapping the cut tire in an old inner tube to protect it from the rough edges of the cut tire that is used as liner.
Or you could melt the rubber with heat and then smooth the edge when it's hot
I did the same when I was young
Now can just buy a tannus insert
One trick to use to ensure you never get a puncture is to never ride a bike

Future suggestions for videos.
That might be a tough nut to crack? ;)
Does it work with fat tires
try two part symmetric rims, that you can fit solid tires directly into, just keep the two rim halves together with the wheel mounting lug screws, or more.
I have 20x4 inch tires. I cut a 4in ratchet strap to length and lined in between the tire and tube. Works great no flats for years
I give up.. just going back to running and will use the wasted money on a scat pack dodge charger
id like to see riding over some 3 inch nails and screws..... i have to deal with that riding 30km a day to work every day. puncture every few days. tried tyre liners which didnt stay in place so i went solid. every day use riding to the shops this would be ok but for busy roads/highways. maybe this with the slime products but....
Considering the average nail unfortunately this product won't protect you. Overall you'll have better luck using FlatOut.
Flat out. Beats this by miles. As a blogger, I thought you would compare the two. it's obviously a paid sponsor video.
Using this product, and still got two flats
So...how much does this miracle product cost (if you know)
And I wonder if it's available in Europe
Try pushing the drill bit right in then you'll get a flat. Your not penetrating the armour.
your're doing it wrong, first you have to put the tannus armour inside the tire mounted on the wheel, and then add your tube as always
The way you did it it's starting to build a house with the roof xD
Still happy with the product?
Could I fit these in a 2.3 or 2.4?
The lighting is terrible! Try to always remember to have your main source of light, the sun, behind the camera, not in front. 🤨
Doesn’t work at all. The Tannus armor gets flat and thins down to nothing after a few weeks due to the air pressure in the tube. I got flats using these from basic thorns.
I got a puncture within 20 mins of fitting my Tanus but i did smash a kerb stone.... And nope you can't ride on these if ya bike weighs 64kgs
Will it prevent a pinch flat? Probably not. WAY more common than a puncture Mike. Especially on bmx & mtb bikes.
great video! glad you like it!
I had a problem with goat head thorns here in Spain so I chopped up a 10mm thick yoga mat into 2" strips for liners, squirted in some anti puncture fluid to, now I go anywhere & the cost to do 2 26" bikes was 16€
Im 60 no drivers licence,so i use to bike my old crosebike that my father win the promotion of liberty condence milk in 1953,now i modefy a gas 80cc motor .i always getting flatire, thanks to this technology,im living in Cagayan de oro city, Philippines.

Wow I would never drill Into my tire
I used the Tannus Armour and slime in my rear electric bike wheel. The tube ruptured and slime went all over the wheel and bike.
What are your thoughts on Tanus Armour?
@@tr1707 I'm sure it would work for some things because it's so thick. If I had it in my front tire and it went flat, I could probably ride it home because there isn't much weight on the front. That's why I put a solid rubber tire on the front. I have to be careful going over bumps for fear of breaking a wheel because the tire is hard, but no more flats there.
Seriously Bro. Pick me to win! Thank you.
Seriously Bro. Pick me to win! Thank you.
Seriously Bro. Pick me to win! Thank you.
Ooo, ooo, me pick me!
Why aren't you the hero GET REAL DUDE
Fasten the helmet strap!
I didn't know all bikes were ever slaved off🤦🏼♀️
Hey what's wrong with your drill?
They turn paper thin after you apply weight on it.
as time pass by as you continue to put miles on the tire with tannus on it, it will eventually flatens out due to centrifugal force. I would add flat out or a liner for added bonus.
I have this for my fat tire ebike. It works fantastic. I’m not had a flat since I put it in.❤️❤️
I have been riding bikes since 1967.
Fabio wilber can do that trick or sam pilgrim
Tannus is JUNK! DO NOT waist money or time on this junk product!
I like that that’s better than double tyre, or solid tyres
you could get the backwards manual with a forward pedal done without a chain 👀
