The reality is the movies don’t portray DID well at all and if you do like them that much, fine, but don’t let it inform your perspective on DID or systems. It’s a horrible representation and it’s fantasy
@slingingaxis4505 Well, it's a disorder literally created thru fraud by psychiatrists and is not a real disorder so that's not really a concern. If you or others believe you have DID, other mental illnesses are certainly at play but that disorder itself is sociogenic at this point and originated in now debunked junk science and case studies.
@@christinereim5793 That’s what I’ve been trying to tell everyone. As a system, I feel like it causes people to have a lot of stigma around the disorder and only makes things worse for us
@@slingingaxis4505 well how does it present? Because no matter what source i try to read it claims DID can cause very distinct personalities that act differently from each other in how they live and interact with the world. And that memory gaps due to split identities is a common issue among people suffering from DID.
@@fishbonesxx God, someone with sense. I can't handle this movie because people constantly think dissociative identity disorder is just a disorder of split personalities, when the disorder quite literally has changed the entire view of consciousness itself as a singular thing in psychology. In other words: psychology has literally been changed thanks to the acknowledgement that DID IS NOT A PERSONALITY DISORDER. Alters can HAVE personality disorders, but calling DID itself as one is like saying a person with OCD is just an obsessive cleaner.
Can we give us major credit to the female character for the fact that she spent such little time with each of his personalities, but still remembers each of them? Because honestly, I think that is amazing.
I love this movie but hate that it caused people to think this is a realistic picture of DID (not multiple personality). It's called Dissociative Identity Disorder. Multiple personality disorder was changed a while ago to DID when psychology research realized it isn't different personalities in one person, it's one personality, just different parts of it. MPD is outdated and is a negative stereotype now. All the same, this was an amazing movie and I did love it. ❤ Just wish people realized this is Hollywood, not reality.
What’s most impressive was that James McAvoy demanded that it not be cut up of different shots. He said he could change between the different versions flawlessly. One continuous shot every time he played his role of switching between the different characters.
The amount of acting that went into these movies from him is RIDICULOUS. I was always a fan from the x - men movies & wanted, but his performance in these movies? Just wow. The voice changing was good enough, but then you add in the actual physical changes? One helluva actor!!!
McAvoy has not gotten the recognition deserved for this role. The way he seamlessly morphed from one to the next and was able to change his mannerisms along with his voice and convincingly become an entirely different presence, just... impressive.

@@Celestiana06we already had stigmas. This isn’t a documentary. No one person with DID is the same and we all have different experiences, symptoms, and struggles. Not to mention the endless ways in which depression, anxiety, ptsd, and schizophrenia a shown in supernatural media. Its fake, its entertainment, its fantasy. I’ve never seen any movie in the trilogy in full but this man is an INCREDIBLE actor. The movie SPLIT understandably caused a lot of controversy over its representation of people with DID as being dangerous, crazy, etc. While the writing was horribly offensive, the actor stayed true to the character throughout the movies and it seems like he has every intention of being accurate instead of propelling any stereotypes forward.
He did an amazing job with it including how he portrays a more severe case of DID once in a safe situation (which is how my professor described it in psychology), vs DID which sometimes is harder to tell. I had a girlfriend with the disorder and hers sometimes was so hard to tell until I saw a key give in body language (when shifting how they changed their posture, slightest tone change, or even just how they walked) which was admittedly difficult for me. We made quite a pair between DID and autism anxiety mix. She is thankfully doing better now but it took a while

Just so y’all know, this condition is called Dissociative Identity Disorder. Those with this disorder have multiple alters that have amnesic barriers and essentially become different people. The disorder is formed due to severe trauma between the ages of 5-7. It’s very complex but also very interesting. This movie is called GLASS, as part of a trilogy , the third of them. The first one is UNBREAKABLE , the second is SPLIT also with the guy on this video , those three movies are great
Thank you. I was looking for this comment because I know I saw the first one but didn't realize they made it into a trilogy. Looking forward to watching .
Thank you!
thanks. its so annoying when ppl post clips of the movie but the movie title is no where to be found

James mcavoy is a phenomenal actor, to switch roles without hesitation to maintain inflection in the voice and mannerisms for every character would take a relentless amount of focus. Should have won an Oscar.
Yes!! I've been saying this since Split came out. Master class in acting. He was robbed - wasn't even nominated ... By the end u could tell which personality he was by how he held his head...
What's the name please?
@@nnennaudeh9536 you have Split as film n1 and Glass as n2

@jasedh8428 true. So the movie Glass makes sense. Otherwise, you will not understand it
The audible gasp and “Do you like Kevin now!?” Is the best part😂
"Whaa- YOU LIKE KEVIN NOW 🥺?" im crying 😂
This guy should be so praised for his roles, he is a SENSATIONAL ACTOR. NEVER have I seen such INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE OF A PERSON WITH SPLIT PERSONALITIES! I LOVED THESE MOVIES
Please read up on DID. This movie does not accurately represent it at all
@@christinereim5793 That’s what I’ve been trying to tell everyone.
He managed to act as a character with many different split personalities soo well, i absolutely loved his acting he was soo good in this movie
I thought he wouldve been a solid Kang
@@slayerbot1394damnit he would’ve been. But also glad that didn’t happen cuz he would’ve been wasted on shit writing anyway
People with actual DID do not act like this, so I'd argue that this is very exaggerated and unrealistic.
@@fishbonesxxI actually have did and people think this movie is a good representation.
I laughed so hard when he goes *gasp* you like KEVIN now?!😂
He deserved a freaking Oscar for this role! No character was remotely similar! And he switched between effortlessly.
Can we give us major credit to the female character for the fact that she spent such little time with each of his personalities, but still remembers each of them? Because honestly, I think that is amazing.
I think anyone would remember their kidnapper
You haven’t watched split I assume.
If it was real but it isn't, just an actress learning her lines etc
really it's a movie its her job to remember lines not personalities lol...
Y'all do realize they're talking about the actual character, not the actress, right?

If they did it the other way it wouldn't feel as good to watch seeing this felt like u were watching an actual person with multiple personalities

McAvoy has not gotten the recognition deserved for this role. The way he seamlessly morphed from one to the next and was able to change his mannerisms along with his voice and convincingly become an entirely different presence, just... impressive.
Because this movie is an improper portrayal of DID. It harmed our community. The stigmas rose because of this.
@@Celestiana06Still is incredible acting.
@Celestiana06 the first movie didn't use the term did but yes it would be a bad portrayal but them in this movie we learned it wasn't quite did it was something very diffrent cuz he genuinly had powers.
@@Celestiana06we already had stigmas. This isn’t a documentary. No one person with DID is the same and we all have different experiences, symptoms, and struggles. No one has a problem with a blind man who suddenly has the ability to see from sound. And no one has a problem when half the paraplegic characters end up miraculously walking. Not to mention the endless ways in which depression, anxiety, ptsd, and schizophrenia a shown in supernatural media. Its fake, its entertainment, its fantasy. People who cant differentiate between reality and a movie need help.
There is always a risk of any human trait becoming a stereotype. Its just how it is. Someone meets one person with DID and suddenly we are all the same. There are always going to be people with a problem, im just happy I get to see a character on screen with DID.

LMFAOAOAOA “you like Kevin now😟” BYEEE THAT WAS SO FUNNY

A lot of media portrays it as essentially a Jekyll and Hyde situation but that’s not really how it works. I suggest doing some of your own research into it if you’re interested
Thank you!! I kept scrolling the comments to see if someone else had pointed it out. Cause MPD is outdated as hell, it is DID. I hope the uploader changes the title.
i heard different people have different physical traits, not just personality, how does that work?
also can one form so many alters they divide brain capacity so much they themselves become handicapped?
@justkev1044 i like to explain it with a glass bowl being shattered on the ground. Of all those shards, which one is the original one? None
I also like to clarify, that most people with DID are more likely to get retraumatized than traumatise others. We are not monsters, the people who did this to a child are...
@@justordinaryme3940 so none of the personalities are complete as a person? theyre all very specific and straightforward characters that were part of a more complicated mind?
