how about using rope as a base board to hide the gaps and give it a finished look

A baseboard that soaks up dirty water and dirt?

I would just use trim to cover gaps

Love the cork flooring. Tip: Go ahead and order a couple extra boxes of it to keep incase a few boards get destroyed! We did hard wood and so glad we had left overs from 17 years ago when our bathroom flooded into our bedroom. No matching and just a Cut & Paste Fix. Question: What brand is the Cork?

No nails. No glue. DIY friendly. What can a DIY homebuilder ask for? May I ask how did the cost compare to hardwood flooring?
Do you like the soft feel under foot? I've friends who said when their glass cup accidentally fell on their cork floor, they expected it to shatter, but it didn't. Don't tell your kids I said this 🙂

the cost was just under $5/sq ft i believe. hardwood flooring prices are all over the place so its hard to say with that. Yes, we love the feel of it!

pricing is very typical to a conventional house. we may do a video on this once I have all my numbers calculated on that but right now I don't know what that number is!

For cork floors, do we have to consider wood expansion and contraction and therefore leave a gap at the wall edges? What's the backing of the cork tiles made of?

yes, this company did say to leave the gap along the walls. heres the website of the cork flooring we used for reference on materials:
