I think you're gonna love Haikyuu. It's such a good character driven show. Also, not many people usually point this out, but Haikyuu has a really tight written dialogue, at least in my opinion. I have yet to see many shows use the monologues and dialogues of their characters so effectively. Which is probably why the slice of life aspect of Haikyuu works so well and doesn't get boring. It's funny because in Haikyuu a single short line of dialogue can subtly foreshadow an upcoming character arc that can take multiple episodes
Very true. The author brought up the chapter page limit numerous times, highlighting just how much work goes into deciding what to keep and what to get rid of, and also how they try to stick with straightforward, simple phrasing, because to them it feels more impactful. These considerations must’ve been crucial when working with a big cast as well as “exposition” to teach some rules to the audience, and they handled it really well.
Seeing you so excited over the first episode, I think you will go crazy in the future, while the plot progresses and new characters appear! Like, some episodes made me scream so much (sometimes with joy sometimes with frustration) and I think you are way more expressive than I am. Also, one thing you should remember is that you will love 99% of the characters sooner or later. Even if you dislike someone initially, please, keep your eyes open for small clues, details, and camera pauses - there is a lot packed in every episode. I think during my 2nd watch I noticed SO MANY hints planted for character growth and development hidden everywhere I wanted to cry about how well this show was made. Would you mind putting a little more sound on while watching? Not much more, but to easier follow the story.

It shouldn’t be. No romance in the show, they’re guys so forcing gay ships is weird, and most important, THEYRE MINORS. STOP MAKING GAY SHIPS FOR CHILDREN
@@ryanpalyo8181 Honestly it's the children thing that is the most important. Honestly as long as people are solid on their 'shipping' being just something personal it's fine (especially if it's more going for highschool romance than more 'sexual' in this circumstance), and I really like that there is basically no romance in Haikyuu. It's pure, distilled, almost the platonic ideal of sports in an anime with characters that you can't help but fall in love with all their goofy asses.
@@iainmcdonalds4018 I did say the minor thing was most important js. But also, lgbt stuff doesn't need forced into any story that is told. It's by far the minority of people in the world, yet people see two normal high school boys and just immediately go "I think they're gay". I think that in itself is just really weird. Which is exacerbated by the fact they're minors
@@ryanpalyo8181 There is no "LGBT stuff" being pushed. To suggest that a gay ship (minor or not) is worse in any parameter to a straight one plays into heteronormativity as if being gay is abnormal. The fact that they're minors doesn't amplify the "gay" factor of a MLM ship since a straight ship should have the same weight, not more or less. What a weird thing to fixate on.
