In this video I'm getting to drive one of my favourite BMW's EVER! In fact, it's my favourite car ever. The BMW 1M coupe, the parts bin special from BMW that should not have gone into production but thankfully it did!

As a Z4M owner, this is the car I want to replace it with. Sadly prices are too high, so it's likely going to be a 135i coupe project for me.

I remember when they first come out I thought you have to be an idiot to buy one over a 135i with such a small difference in power. Used prices reminds me what an idiot i am

Well, I agree with you... it's one of the most gorgeous BMWs. I had a BMW M2 and switched to a 2012 1M with just 2300 miles recently... and let me tell you I lost lots of money with the M2 and had to pay the 1M like new. Anyway the 1M is going to be a permanent car in my collection.

man the white one doesnt do it justice on the video in my opinion. i got a black one but i wish i had the opportunity to grab the orange one, the shape shows off alot better. And this car in my opinion is also much better looking in person. I like your driving style, i drive with traction off all the time too. It is snappy on the turns and yes youre right you have to catch it. But sooo rewarding when you get used to it. By far the best M i ever owned. Good video and finally someone driving it like its meant to be driven :P
Spot on. 1Ms look much better in the flesh. Although I purchased a white one a couple of months ago over here in New Zealand. No regrets as it only had 12000km on the clock.

Don't want to come off as a hater. I own, drive, and track a 128i. The thing with the short wheelbase is BMW marketing that everyone has latched onto and blown way out of proportion! The E82 1 series is a e92 shortened by 4 inches. It's 104.7 inches long. That is long by sports car standers. 911, Cayman, S2000, gt86, supra, all wrx's, F-type, 370z, all 4 or more inches shorter wheelbases then 1M. C5 corvette is almost the exact same size wheelbase for reference. I believe part of the reason the 1M is so legendary because it's the lightest BMW with a gem of a turbocharged motor. BMW 135is got screwed because it didn't get the tuned N54 that the z4 35is, 1M and 335is got.

Have a Dinan black version of the 1M. Definitely a special driving car (my fav) but the looks are not perfect. I still prefer an E46 M3 Comp for looks. Who thought having rounded bottom doors on the 1M made sense..."Bangle era"

I’ve not long had my first BMW and it’s a e87 120d with the M47 engine. I love it. Would love to upgrade to one of these one day but the hold on the value is crazy. Might just get a m235i 🤣🤣
Love em, but I did buy an M2 Competition instead. Both are brilliant, but only one comes with a warranty.....
Always liked this car a lot. Sometimes i think of switching from my M140i to a 1M. But i have to say, the more i think about it and the more i get used to the experience of the turbo engine in my M140i, the more i appreciate the NA V8 of the M3 E92. Sure not the punch of a turbo, but the S65 with a nice exhaust must be a dream to listen at.
I hope you can drive a M3 E92 and a M5 E60 an compare it to your the other M cars you have driven.
I remember when Top Gear sort of panned this car for having "understeer" when they reviewed it. I love Top Gear and the boys, but that's about when I realized that TG sort of picks out one attribute, whether true or not, and would run with an unpopular opinion just to troll people sometimes.
The 1M just got that wildness that modern M cars don’t have, you have to work hard to fight for your desired slip angle with your right foot, but on M2 and M4 with that e-diff, you just floor it and let the diff do the detail bit, even steering correction is minimized, morden technology border the room for mistakes and make the car faster, but not fun and rewarding anymore. Great review with pure emotion, liked :)

I love these, they’re so wide. Popped to TH Boler last summer and the little orange 1M grabbed my attention way more than some of the exotica they had.
