I was just looking at that. How did 3-4 bombs deal a QUARTER of his health. He resisted the frost and slowness, so I doubt it had anything to do with the +175% or +30% dmg increase so... -\ (-_-) /- Edit: at 17:12 he confirms that it can be frozen for a short amount of time, meaning that the shield he was using dealt bonus damage to frozen enemies or, dealt more damage to something else (like to a bleeding enemy or on fire enemy) and also did this effect when the enemy thawed.
@@YetiCat28 there used to be a bug where grenades deflected by legendary items would deal stupid amounts of damage. legendary magnetic grenade would almost instakill hotk when it throws grenades, but it's fixed now
I was struggling to beat 3 BC and thanks to the first and third builds I am now on 5 BC and got to the collector ( although I died in seconds against him) . I used the first build with an ice shield in the backpack and armadillo pack + frostbite+ soldiers resistance
Propably really basic, it helped me to get somehow into 5BC: Symmetrical lance, Spike Shield or Punishment, Giant Wistle amd Ice Armor. What doesnt Kill me, Soldiers Resistance and Gastronomy. Attacking mid air to kill stuff, trying to kill deadlier enemys with the Wistle and otherwise just parrying my health up on enemys I know I can parry
Ice shards + boi's axe +steel trap+ crusher. Mutations - gastronomy + heart of ice (musthave) + either soldier resistance or kill rhytm. You need to find oil and fire and poison on traps which is pretty easy, and try to find bonus on burning oil and/or poison on weapons (axe is more important as a main source of damage here). This build clears 5bs without any issues (except giant maybe, go easy kill scarecrow or time keeper) and it feels like a tactic build with tons of survivability
cool trick with the giant killer is you can just leave it at the start of the biome then put your secondary weapon in your backpack for going between biomes
Thank you so much. War spear build carried me through 5bc like a charm. Swapped Gastronomy to Masochist on Giant and Hand of the King. Also brought Ice Shield in backpack for the *Spoilerboss* and used it with the Giant Killer (in this case changed Gastronomy to Disengagement).
What do you think about explosive crossbow in survival? I tend to think the huge damage boost you get from going point blank scaling with tactics is too strong to miss, but maybe im missing something that would make it interesting in green
Explosive crossbow is pretty solid all-around, I'm not too sure you'd wanna use it with point blank though, even if you're running it with tactics. Typically you wanna use the crossbow from pretty far away since it's pretty slow to fire and whack anyone who gets close with the melee. If anything, you'd probably wanna use Tranquility as a mutation so you're getting the damage bonus from attacking far away.
@@travistotle not a huge fan of tranquility. Point blank carried me all the way to the hand of the king on 2 bc, damage was just so ridiculous that id rather come face to face for a one shot. As for survival, im kinda confused on some synergies that would be on par with what purp has to offer
I always run kill rhythm on most crossbows including explosive crossbow. My mutations are Kill Rhythm, Point Blank, and the cd on crits. I just walk up and alternate between whack and firing. Idk if it's safe or effective but it does good damage and it's actually kinda fun.
Every time I see one of your build videos the same thought comes to mind. Motion Twin should be sending you a check. God knows how many people have poured countless hours into this game because of you. Players hit a difficulty wall they cannot pass, and just give up altogether. Then that same player comes across one of your videos, and then they have the tools to succeed. That's exactly what made me come back to Dead Cells some years ago, and I conquered everything through 5BC. The only trophy I never got was a flawless victory on The Collector. I was close many times though. I ended up losing my save data when I upgraded from PS4 Pro to PS5, and I was excited to see you still post videos bro. Thanks again for helping me get back to where I once was. Your videos on Dead Cells have no equal.

Finally beat spoiler boss for the first time with the first build! Honestly felt so cheap with how little damage you take lmao. Can confirm that its the unkillable build :p

Thank you for this. Swole survival helped carry me through the two 5BC completions needed to get the true ending. With the appropriate routing and a bit of luck from normal mode RNG, it made runs a lot more consistent. Appreciate the info. Now that I got the true ending, I can play around without caring about completion as much.
Omfg, thanks man. The first build is just tooo powerful. It was so hard to even get to the first boss on 4bc (maybe because i was restarting very often :]). But that build just destroys that game. Giant and Hand of the King just vanish in no time. Now I'll face real hell.

I think that, for the first build, instead of soldier’s resistance, i’d use dead inside. It gives more health, plus the gastro will make up for the health cut from food by dead inside.
okay the first build saved my life. been struggling to finish 3bc for month now and tried mostly assassin and bleed builds but with this I managed to beat 3bc and 4bc instantly. 4bc first try as well
I'm just getting back to the game after a long hiatus. Stopped playing after i finished the game on 0BC before DLCs were even a thing. Followed your advice and went RnB and i MURDERED my first Giant on 1BC. Got rekt by HOTK but i'm motivated to git gut at the game thanks to you. The game is so much better now after all the DLC and updates. Keep the great content up !
Same here. I beat the game then quit playing. After playing hades a crap ton I started playing returnal and just got the urge to play dead cells again bc of fun these type of games are. I've been playing this on switch then play returnal once my battery is about dead on the switch. The DLCs are really fun and I just beat 2BC. Doing a survival build thru 3BC right now.
Just beat my first 5bc run, mixed hunter grenade build with repeater bow until I got legendary rapier in the fractured shrines. Then I got a bunch of red to stack with green and tanked my way to victory!!
Finally some recognition for heavy crossbow. It was my favorite weapon on 2, 3 and 4 BC, and I wanted to do 5 with it as well, but died 3 times to the collectioner, got mad and came to him with a baseball bat and wolf trap (easy win).
War spear is my GOD. I was constantly dying in the early stages but once this weapon is unlocked for the first time I'm directly snowballing everything till the final boss stage.
Definitely enjoyed the video. Learning the wonders of the heavy cross bow as we speak. It is one shotting every thing! Having my best run so far with it, going through the castle now.
"You have to TRY to die with this first build." *Dies on the scarecrow* ;_; Now what really happened was that I was struggling to get the equipment for the build and when I got the giant killer on the undying shores I just put it to S rank and it turns out that it got a "1% of health back after each hit" without me noticing until I was on the mausoleum so there is your way of dying with that build XP. Now I DID give the scarecrow a salty run back with the same build and I won... it took me 3 flasks though, I thought that the monster damage was buffed since the upload of this video but the hand of the king was struggling HARD to make a dent at the end that one flask that was left from the scarecrow was enough so either scarecrow is the anti-"Unkillable war spear" build or scarecrow is just my worst fitght, either way thanks to you I just finished 4BC thank you so much. Also I was using the repeater cross bow on that failed run and ditched it for the cursed war spear but looking back at it if I had changed gastronomy and recovery for barved tips and point blank instead of insisting on the other build I might have cleared it, what do you think?
I have watched a bunch of your videos recently and you have really informative content and awesome build suggestions with good explanation, the only thing that has been a challenge is because I am new to dead cells. I don't necessarily know the function of different mutations or equipment simply based on the name or icon. These are obviously well thought out builds, so it would be tremendously helpful to flash a snippet of the mutation across the screen during the explanation instead of just displaying the icon in the corner. Sorry for the criticism, but I really dig these builds and it would just make it easier to approach them. Thanks for the great vid, Keep up the Great content
beat the game for the first time w heavy crossbow + shield in backpack (punishment/spiked works well). creamed hotk. i dont use heavy crossbow as much anymore since im trying to diversify my weapon usage but i can reliably beat the game w crossbow. its too good. i like how if you're closer to a target you will one shot because of all the bolts hitting, but if you choose to stand further back you can snipe a small spread of enemies such as flying ones. the thing is knowing whether you have time to commit to an attack and when you have to animation cancel, but that's a skill needed with most survival weapons. if you don't like survival i highly recommend trying out the crossbow, i can guarantee you will like it. you can also run it in tactics for less health but more powerful mutations. parting gift and crows foot are some of my favorites, they are excellent for crowd control. parting gift in particular is cracked af with armadillopack because you can roll into the bombs and spread them out even more. crows foot helps with the slowness. i haven't tried kill rhythm since i don't have it yet but i would assume it works excellently as well.

I actually beat the queen first try on 5bc with giantkiller, force shield and a tonic with zero pots! Swole survival is real, I used dead inside, vengeance and soldiers resistance. It was my second 5bc run and first win too, survival op :D
First off man you are amazing at this game thanks for all the info I suck at this game I'm only on 1boss cell maybe this will help me not be as sucky but you really opened my eyes to try other items I really want to get better but I'm trying to get blueprints I guess I need to focus on 1or the other thanks again

My survival build is : Assault Shield as the first weapon, the baseball bat as the second weapon, Wolf Trap as the first skill and finally death orb as the second skill This build is definitely op for 5 BC, always reached the Astrolab when had the build
The first build is actually very difficult. I am playing on 3BC and I have already died multiple times in the second/third level of the game. For me it is definetely even not top5
the unkillable war spear is kinda doable again using stuff like new necro + soldier's resistance + recovery or armadillo pack edit : gastro instead of soldier's resistance works too
One question for the first build. My health always plumet when i get hit with no time to recover. I have the all the requirements you showed but it doesnt work. The yellow bar dont even show. Did they nerfed the build?
I just obtain my first Boss Cell with second build, the heavy crossbow damage is bonkers, i got lucky getting a high level heavy crossbow on HPC and the rest is history
What if in the swole build you change ice armor for vampirism and the gastro for dead inside, you'll have even more health and it will be a lot more renewable.

So i have a question. For your Heavy Crossbow Build would you recommend staying with the Crossbow from the beginning and not buy any or pick up any new upgraded levels of the Crossbow throughout your play-through? I've noticed it gets harder after buying an upgraded Heavy Crossbow later on in the run. I'm still trying to beat BC 2 by the way. Thanks for the help man.
It's important to get a new Crossbow only if the affixes are good or if you have money to reroll. Losing Shots Pierce, Victims Slow, 20 or 40% Bonus Damage, etc. might result in multiple hits later (or a curse death 💀) later
@@Veedotme So keep upgrading the starting Crossbow with Survival and don't worry about picking up a new Crossbow unless it has the affixes of Shots Pierce, Victims Slow and or 20/40% Critical Damage correct?
fireblast with 20% bonus damage to crits, boomerang with spreading oil on the enemy(and maybe 100% damage to target that covered with burning oil), owl of war and tesla coil with the same affixes as what i told for the boomerang. take this build and you will melt through everything in the game.(i beat 5bc so this is from 5bc prespective, on 3bc its gonna give you a free win for sure.)

Got to 5bc in my first 19 hours of play. And not knowing anything about building my kit other than get the one scroll high made me really struggle against spoiler boss

My survival build is : Assault Shield as the first weapon, the baseball bat as the second weapon, Wolf Trap as the first skill and finally death orb as the second skill
This build is definitely op for 5 BC, always reached the Astrolab when had the build

The first build is actually very difficult. I am playing on 3BC and I have already died multiple times in the second/third level of the game. For me it is definetely even not top5

the unkillable war spear is kinda doable again using stuff like new necro + soldier's resistance + recovery or armadillo pack edit : gastro instead of soldier's resistance works too

More recent op combo is the hotline Miami bat with the throwable knife you will however need to start hunting for survival type scrolls
One question for the first build. My health always plumet when i get hit with no time to recover. I have the all the requirements you showed but it doesnt work. The yellow bar dont even show. Did they nerfed the build?
I somehow beat my first scarecrow boss without bouncing on a single mushroom. Didn't even know it was a mechanic till my second time fighting him
The giant slayers buildings got me my win unlocking 5bc
Finally beat 4bc with the war spear build, staying alive really helps get a w 😆 280 hours in now I'll be looking for that 5bc win
These builds are totally awesome, though I think ice shards + boy's axe are worth mentioning cuz these 2 combined are just a free way to win the game
I just obtain my first Boss Cell with second build, the heavy crossbow damage is bonkers, i got lucky getting a high level heavy crossbow on HPC and the rest is history
What if in the swole build you change ice armor for vampirism and the gastro for dead inside, you'll have even more health and it will be a lot more renewable.
I like it I just don't want anyone to die from the vamp 😅
@@Veedotme maybe you could swap out the grenade for a tonic or ice armor and use it with the vamp but thats reaching a bit

at 13:24 the Purulent Zombie that spawns after the mushroom is slowed. Hitting it reduced my cooldown. happy to reconfirm that one
Wow they must have silently rerolled that one back. It was specifically mentioned in the 2.1 patch notes (tried to post a link to the patchnotes but YT apparently removed it).

hey Vee nice videos-like them all- and good informatios now I recently update to v2.5 and get mad about custom controller they delete the ability to use same button to perform primary attack and skill it is very enoying cause I kind of use to run this setting all my playthrough ...

So i have a question. For your Heavy Crossbow Build would you recommend staying with the Crossbow from the beginning and not buy any or pick up any new upgraded levels of the Crossbow throughout your play-through? I've noticed it gets harder after buying an upgraded Heavy Crossbow later on in the run. I'm still trying to beat BC 2 by the way. Thanks for the help man.
It's important to get a new Crossbow only if the affixes are good or if you have money to reroll. Losing Shots Pierce, Victims Slow, 20 or 40% Bonus Damage, etc. might result in multiple hits later (or a curse death 💀) later
@@Veedotme So keep upgrading the starting Crossbow with Survival and don't worry about picking up a new Crossbow unless it has the affixes of Shots Pierce, Victims Slow and or 20/40% Critical Damage correct?

Do you have a strategy for 3BC? I just recently got up to it, and it is much more difficult than 2BC in my opinion.
fireblast with 20% bonus damage to crits, boomerang with spreading oil on the enemy(and maybe 100% damage to target that covered with burning oil), owl of war and tesla coil with the same affixes as what i told for the boomerang.
take this build and you will melt through everything in the game.(i beat 5bc so this is from 5bc prespective, on 3bc its gonna give you a free win for sure.)
