I learned about your channel when you collaborated with Dani on an upcycling challenge, I think? And it was just before you bought this house. It's amazing to see everything you've done pretty much all by yourself, or close to it! That, plus a wedding, plus changing your job, plus helping Chris with his injuries...just an amazing amount of things to be super proud of, and I can't wait to see the kitchen!!

I really love these types of videos bc I think we tend to focus on things we didn't do/things that still need to be done that it is nice to take a breathe, review everything we have managed to get done, and congratulate ourselves.
Your style is just so cool, comfy and welcoming. I tear up when I watch some of the diy videos (with super talented ladies) because you show other girls and woman that we are strong and can do construction, woodworking etc. Thank you for that❤😊
I don’t understand why people come on these channels just to criticize if I don’t like and idea I don’t comment or give a thumbs up. What I say is you do you boo let me do me! I love everything thing you do you encourage me to use tools like a boss thank great work on your house.
The house is so beautiful . And I love the backyard wedding . You looked so happy and beautiful. I used to do wedding photography, I’ve seen so many elaborate weddings , so much money spent and it doesn’t make the marriage last any longer . I my self did a small backyard wedding, it was so stress free and fun . It will be 36 yrs next month.

Love this video and you sharing the process. We bought our 1950’s house Oct 2021 too and it has been reassuring to follow your realistic process. We have made great progress but still have a list.

There is nothing wrong with living in your home and then realise you don't like some things. Never feel like you have to justify your home or what you want to change. I'm blown away by how amazingly beautiful you and Chris looked on your wedding day. So glad you go to live your dream wedding in your beautiful house . Thank you for sharing your years progress of your home renovations. My husband & I bought a fixer upper too the same time you & your husband did. Our home was built in 1949 and needed updating (as still does). It's funny, because our lists are pretty much the same when it comes to what we want to do. I'm looking forward to more of your videos to come. once again, thank you for sharing! 🤗
I wouldn't feel bad about not having things set after a year. I bought my house 18 months ago, we aren't doing renovations, and we still have multiple rooms that aren't set up the way we want them. You have accomplished so much in this house in such a short time. And I am so impressed that so much of it was done while working a full time job. I work remotely and even with no commute it is still such an ordeal to just walk out to my shop to do things after work. Listening to you talk about all this is so infectious and I just want to have you around all the time as a friend to tell me that I am capable of doing all the things I want to do.

It's looking great!! You're definitely waay further along than me lol. I bought my home in Nov 2015. I'm hoping to actually get walls this year!! It's a long story so I won't share it now, but I keep on moving on.

@@diyhuntress thanks for the encouragement!! It's been a rough road and definitely quite a few bumps in the road and hardship in life. I completely gutted the house, I ran all the electricity, plumbing and everything to refinish the hardwood floors with my own 2 hands all while working a full-time job and raising 5 kids by myself. This is the year I make some serious progress!!

Sam our lives had parallel journeys as we got our first flip house at the same time so seeing you demo the bathroom - ya we're doing three but the worst was the first. Had TONS of electrical wiring to do as the previous owner did some unique fire-starting projects in wiring. My favorite was how he soldered (no tape) the romex behind the walls in the bathrooms (overloading the circuits as well) but he did separate the wires with his hands thinking that was safe. No junction box of course. No way to spot it unless you did demo work - oh that was terrifying. Or the heater where he used two 120v breakers instead of a 220 breaker and yes - one of the breakers ran another circuit. How did we not have a fire!
Anyway, your house looks beautiful. Been following you all along your journey. You did awesome!

Wow! That’s a huge accomplishment, not only in terms of DYI, but also so many life changes/challenges that you tackled with grace and consideration of your own needs. Bravo for ALL of that. As a fellow LI cape owner that has dormered the home I would not suggest the vaulted cieling in the living room. Lots of expense for no additional living space. dormer the home and put 3 bedrooms upstairs with a large walkin closet and your additional bathroom. Great vids btw.

Wow you have accomplished so much - sometimes it's good to take a moment to reflect because many of us (myself included) are always looking to what's next on the list! Gotta get those windows done tho - it ain't sexy and might not make great content but I see dollar signs floating out the windows from your AC and heat.
