I love the real time aspect, it keeps us big dreamers in check. The reality is a renovation takes time and money, and if we're doing it ourselves - time and money are at a premium. Can't wait to watch your reno unfold
Wow, such an improvement already! Don't worry about a house reno not being the kind of project that allows a full reveal every week. So excited to see what you'll do with the house. Of course it'll take time and it'll be a lot of things getting worse before they really get better. People who follow these kinds of projects and channels know that (and for everyone who doesn't like that, there's someone who does).
You're excited? I'm excited! This demo went so well and big ups to you for doing it by yourself with some help from Papa Joe who is quite the character. I cannot wait to watch this journey - I hope you include us as you shop for appliances, back splash, flooring, cabinets, etc. ♥ ♥ ♥
Wow! You covered a lot in just 20 minutes. You have your dad's spirit, sense of humor and outlook on life. Lucky you. Keep working and keep smiling.. I don't know why I didn't see this 2 months ago. I check my UA-cam alerts often.
Great video Sam. The explanation on how to determine the difference between a load bearing wall and a non load bearing wall is premium. As well as showing how they set things up so they could take down that wall. I've watched This Old House for years and while they will point out a load bearing wall; they never showed how to tell the difference. Of course, it's possible I missed that episode. For the average DIYer, it is best that they get a contractor to remove a load bearing wall. The reason being is that if you do it yourself, and you do it wrong, and ten years later the house falls in, well, you just bought yourself a whole load of legal trouble that will lead to building a new house for that property and or end up in jail should someone died due to the failure. There are somethings where it is best to just bite the bullet, foot the bill, and let the pros take care of what pros know; needs to be taken cared of.
Looking good Sam! I just love the daddy daughter duo.Your dad seems like a lot of fun. I know he is so proud of you.Things take time and we will all be here with you watching as you bring your dream house to life. You are one amazing young lady ,and I’m so happy that I get to witness your talent.❤️

This was great. Just bought my first house in July and we have gutted a room and taken down load bearing walls to install headers. So much work. But so rewarding.
I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS UPCOMING TOTAL HOME REVEAL!!! I absolutely love your taste and I just know I'm going to want to buy your home when you and Chris decides it's time to move on to a bigger house! The new back door and hardware you used for it told me all I needed to know! I'M GOING TO LOVE THIS!!! My notifications are definitely on. Congratulations and I'm excited for you!!!
My husband is 60 years old and works 50 hour weeks as a mechanic. He is adding a 20x30 addition to our house all by himself (ok I do the cleanup). It is taking a long time (one year so far with probably at least 6 months to go) but the money we are saving is crazy especially since material prices skyrocketed just as we started. Good luck!! Looking forward to your finished kitchen!!
I loved seeing you and your dad working together. My dad also owns a construction company and I also used to work for him in the summers. So, dad and daughter building projects give me a special nostalgic feeling.

Hi Sam, I love a good demo....we need more "dad" in these videos, I want to see him do a happy dance, lol...seriously though you and your crew are doing great work, I hope the rest of the project goes smoothly...Take care...stay safe...
I haven’t watched all of your videos because many of them are so beyond my capabilities. But I got sucked right into this house renovation even though I could never do what you’re doing myself. I grew up in a late 40s cape cod house and we had that weird back hallway entrance to the kitchen also (and rotary phones!). And the house was divided into lots of little rooms just like yours. Makes everything feel so closed in. We’re just finishing having a smaller home than our current one renovated for our much downsized next stage of life and we also broke out walls between kitchen and living room in the new house. Makes a huge difference in light and airiness. So count me as a new and very excited fan (DIY Danie is a big favorite of mine also)
Looks awesome! Would it make sense to update the lighting as well? Given that you had already replaced the ceiling. Just a thought. Amazing work though, thanks for sharing.
This is perfect bec I'm starting my kitchen after the holidays. Don't feel bad not doing it all yourself! There is a reality to it and that's all your other commitments . Now please share about your sink you picked, bec I need some guidance !
