    Yeah so the drowning the hair in product one is probably from people who clown others for using copious amounts of product on type 4 hair for the sake of clumping. They believe it stems from putting curls and clumps on too high of pedestal, hence the "she's ✨biracial✨" playing jokingly in the background+the dancing.
    In this case they're clowning the stylist who gave this advice and treatment to their client's tightly coiled hair.
    But yeah, some undertones present, but to each their own.

      @@llsss777 It is Tik Tok/Gen Z humor but @stephaniekhaguli is also right lol They used the "Biracial" song for this clip because girls with type 4 hair use tons of product to make their hair look curly and extra defined to look more like mixed girls. Because that's the type natural hair that is put on a pedestal.

      You're spot on! Some stylists will drown 4c hair in product trying to get it to clump and not suffer so much shrinkage. They try to give it an "its not 4c hair appeal" and it's ridiculous.

    Lol the biracial tiktok I think was referencing this idea that black people putting SO MUCH EFFORT into trying to achieve curls is rooted in anti blackness, as opposed to accepting your non defined kinky hair as it is. It’s thought to be trying to assimilate to other cultures, the same way we used to perm our hair instead of accepting it how it comes to assimilate to European hair standards. That’s why they played that song “shes biracial 🎵 “ bc it seems like black people always want to look “less black/mixed” it they can. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @lovelypassionsea1296
      @lovelypassionsea1296 3 роки тому +265

      Yes absolutely correct. The Black community likes curly hair but not coily hair. Likes there’s nothing wrong with type 4 naturals wanting defined hair, but the way they speak on undefined hair is definitely rooted within anti Blackness.

      @@lovelypassionsea1296 agreed! I definitely struggled with this when I first went natural. I had never seen my natural hair before and didn’t want it to not be curly and look coarse. My hair actually is curly but with products. And sometimes without products depending on the day. About 4a/4b. I used to get so upset if my Wash and go wouldn’t come out with defined curls. I used to want to look like the naturals with loose curls that I was seeing all over UA-cam who went natural and achieved these loose soft curls. However I’ve learned to accept my hair the way it is/ embrace my undefined untouched Afro. And I love it now. But I know I’m not the only natural who has struggled with that or is currently struggling with that. Now I don’t care as much about defining my hairs curls

    Explanation for the video about 4c hair drowning in products. Some hair products are marketed to 4c girls with the intention to convince them that the product will make their hair look like a looser curl pattern by using large amounts of product which is uncomfortable and sometimes problematic for keeping a healthy scalp (in reference to build up) Also problematic with the marketing basically showing 4c hair as the unfavorable curl pattern.

    I think the biracial Tiktoks was saying now that her curl pattern in prominent, she will be considered "biracial" because her hair no longer looks like a kinky fro. the curls being defined will have people asking what are you when in all actuality we just black and we need products that will help with curls. also, the comment is at the top of the video it said "your hair isn't nappy you just need the right products" and curly type 4 hair is the only hair type (IMO) that can go from what folks would call a hot mess to that "pretty" hair that'll have people asking "what are you"

    Ooooh, it was the intense curls after the product was put in. Like, one half of her hair is wet with Shirley Temple curls and the other is dry indicating the products that was put in.

    12:00 it is not just you, especially In movies or shows, I usually just change it to the original language and put on the subtitles.

    The song said "She's biracial!" I believe they’re r tryna say when you think you have no curl pattern in your type 4 hair, and then the hair dresser drowns your hair in product and your curls start poppin soo much someone can say you're biracial .

    The large dread twists from Joy is an old style. She did a UA-cam tutorial on it like a year or two ago 🥰
