I just went through this process using Paint, Illustrator and Silhouette Designer edition software, this method looks much more efficient! Thank you so much! Why did you have to use Business Edition? Designer edition has the trace tool. I’m not sure which feature of Business Edition that is not available on the Designer edition that you used in your process.
Love the video Pattyanne I always learn a lot from your tutorials . I invested this week in the Silhouette Business software this week and I must say I love it so easy to use and not slow like Cricut Design I love the cut on the Cricut to cut but software is not good I would recommend investing in Silhouette Business best money I have spent .
Hello Patty Ann. Ran across your video while scrolling. This was a great tutorial. I worked on my laptop while the video played on my phone. I use Cricut, don't have the Cameo. I like how you can do so much more in Silhouette than Design Space. I'm learning everyday! 😊
Just purchased Business edition from your link earlier today and I have no regret except I need someone to do my chores because I haven't been able to do anything else. Thanks for all that you do.
Hi PattyAnne, nice to meet you :) I have just bought the silhouette Business edition and followed this tutorial and yay! it worked :) thank you so much for sharing this, helped me a lot :) love your soft voice, and how easy to follow tutorial :) Im going to watch and learn more of your tutorials, thank you so much :) have a nice day, happy creating :) stay safe and well :) magz :)
Great video. It was clear to see and hear and you explained clearly. I’ve just upgraded to SS business and have a Cricut so really looking forward to using this technique. Thank you
Thank you. I just switched to the silhouette software to use with my Cricut machine due to their glitchy and slow Design Space. This was helpful. Great tutorial and pace.
I'm going to have to jump right in and go purchase the software. I can see so many possibilities. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents with us.
Omg this is what I needed!!! I’ve been trying to convert to cricut but I HATE their software it’s so much easier working on silhouette studio BUT cricut cuts better.. so I’m glad to know I can still work in studio and cut with cricut I’m so excited! I was THIS close to taking the cricut machine back lol
amazing! you're such a great instructor! thanks. going to send a link to my DIL who has Silhouette business and would probably LOVE to see your tutorials. She has the Silhouette cutter.
Hi PattyAnne loved your tutorial, I also have just brought the Silhouette software business edition but have Cricut machines and find the design space software too limiting as I want to design. I have created in Silhouette studio and saved as png and SVG but when I export it into design space it doesn’t retain its size the png comes in very large and the SVG is small - is there a work around on this?
This looks so easy but I can't afford Silhouette business edition at the moment so I will have to continue with Inkscape which doesn't look all that difficult. So much I want to save up for!
I was able trace my image, then saved as an SVG. I wanted an outline of the image to cut in Cricut to place on a canvas. When uploaded to Cricut, the shapes were filled with a color. What can I do to just get the outline?
If you want to use the files for your Cricut, you will need the Business Edition as it is the only one that allows you to save files as svgs. You will get a cheaper price if you already have a purchased edition. Also, if you use my link, be sure to look in the lower left hand part of the screen for an extra discount.
I just downloaded the Basic Silhouette software to try it but was not having any luck Releasing the compound path. In order to cut out the nose. Is this because I need to purchase the business version? It looks so easy when you do it.
No it shouldn't be because of the edition you are working with. Did you try it a few times. It does take a little practice. Let me know and I will figure out how I can help!
Hi PattyAnne, I just installed Silhouette Basic on my freshly cleaned up computer. I started this tutorial and got as far as “ungrouping” DS talk, I went to Object & down to release Compound Path, the boxes showed up, when I went to color the black that worked but when I went to move the black back from puppy everything went with it. What am I doing wrong? I have been redoing & deleting to start over for 2 hours, LOL, I still can’t “ release compound path” any suggestions?
PattyAnne, I am sorry I didn't get back with you, I didn't know there was an area to reply, so sorry. I couldn't ungroup the puppy, I did try it again and right clicked, parts of it moved. I got discouraged because I want to get the Business edition and have fun like the other "girls" that includes you. I went to another tutorial, a heart with word in, to see if I could do what they were teaching and could not "slice" like the tutorial showed. I followed your tutorial and the other tutorial step by step and was having trouble with both. I wonder if I should calibrate my machine? I am afraid if I get the Business Edition I will still have trouble? I LOVE your tutorials, you are such an awesome teacher, I learn more from yours than any other,. Thanks again for you responds to my problem.
Joan, If you are able, it would be great if you could download the app zoom and we could talk face to face and you could see my screen and I could see yours so we could figure this out.. Let me know if you can download it and when it would be a good time to 'meet'.

Hi Scottish Bunny! Good question!! If you want to see if something as an SVG, you must have the business edition.
PattyAnne! So much easier than Inkscape and more versatile than DS! As always you make everything look so easy! Thank you!

You are a great teacher. Thank you for the video. I am contemplating upgrading to the Business Edition.
Thanks, Marilyn. Are you a Cameo user or Cricut?? I really do love the Silhouette Software!
@@PattyAnnesPlace I have used both, but the Cricut more frequently since getting the Maker. I absolutely LOVE the silhouette software though!
Thank you. I just switched to the silhouette software to use with my Cricut machine due to their glitchy and slow Design Space. This was helpful. Great tutorial and pace.
Great, Krista! You will LOVE using it!
That was fun. You are a very good teacher!

Wonderful! Isn’t it fun!
I'm going to have to jump right in and go purchase the software. I can see so many possibilities. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents with us.

Hi Erin. Just saw your comment. Hope you're loving using the software for your cricut!!!
@@PattyAnnesPlace I am trying lol even with this it seems Cricut is just annoying lol I’m trying to adjust the best I can lol

I already have the software but no idea how to use it. You explain things so clearly Thank you
Great Colleen! I hope you give it a try!
Thank you sooo much!! Great tutorial!
You're so welcome!

Hi PattyAnn Love video. Could you just save the image as a png or jpg if you just wanted to make it a ptc instead of svg??
Greasy video. Thank you!
Where do you buy the printer maker? Love your videos
Hi Becky! What do you mean, "printer maker"?

I will have to take this dive
You will not be sorry.
I have cameo 3 but have a desire for Cricut. Is it possible to download the software to cricut and test it before buying the machine?
Linda, I am sorry but I'm not sure.
New sub🤗 great video 👌
Awesome video
Thank you!!!

Hey Joan! I will help in the morning. We WILL get this!! Btw, you did ungroup, right?
Maybe you need to right click and ungroup. See if this fixes it.

I was wondering if the link you shared is right? is it Swing Design ?? Thanks!
It is Joni! Just search for either the silhouette basic addition or the silhouette business edition
The program will only let me save in "Silhouette v2 or v3 or GSP. Is that because mine is the Free edition?
Yes, it is because you have to have the Business Edition to get the other options.
Hi great but can you tell me where you got the image
Sure! I got it from pixabay.com I searched for puppy.
WHEN I TRY TO SAVE IT ONLY 3 OPTIONS POP UP IT DONT LET ME SAVE AS A SVG??
You may have to upgrade to the Business Edition of the software .
It seems like double the work to start working on a design in Silhouette, just to upload into Cricut to make/cut.
Desiree, I find it very quick AND it does create a nice finished look.
