Great video! Now if only my toolbox hadn't been raided by kids.. Grr. I actually need to replace the alternator, but I figure I may as well replace the serpentine belt, too.
@@partsandprojects I didn’t have to replace the original one on my 09 corolla into 150,000 miles started showing some cracks I know I have 320,000 miles on my Corolla and that second one which was OEM is still doing fine. Of course aftermarket belts will not last as long as the original Toyota OEM
@@markpearson2717 i looked up the correct size on AutoZone or whatever and bought the right size. Even the store gave me the wrong size the first time and I had to go back. The wrong size belt wore out my alternator, that’s how I found out, and the replacement from AutoZone worked fine for 3 months then started squealing on cold start ups and at red lights before it warmed up. I ended up buying a new belt and alternator online from Olathe Toyota in Kansas (I’m in Boston). They were great to deal with and you can enter your vin to make sure the part you order is the correct one for your car.
Can you please show me what you mean? Im a girl so i thought I just wasnt strong enough to pull it over , but now I see someone else was havn a hard time too. I just can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong to save my life. I appreciate any more tips youve got.❤ @@partsandprojectsThank you much. GOD BLESS

You also need to change the decoupler pulley as preventative maintenance
I like this video, I will replace mine (355,000 kilometers without replac it)
What's the recommended service internal for this one brother?
I tend to replace them every 6 years or 60k miles give or take.
Thanks a lot man, appreciate your insights.

I replaced mine and cant seem to get the tension right. Constant squealing. Any recommendations?
Maybe your tensioner itself is worn out. I would replace that next.
There is a slight difference in size between a Japanese built Corolla vs American built. Happened to me.
What did you do purchase smaller belt

I can't get it on. It's like it's not long enough. I compared them before I bought it. I have it routed right.
Compare your old belt to your new belt for length. Check the old belt for a part number.
@@partsandprojects I had it on the pulleys right but I had it routed under that thing I guess you gauge your timing with. Thanks.
@@uniteamerica9446 glad it worked out for you!
Anyone else having a problem getting it on the alternator? It wont reach the alternator
Try loosening the alternator more!
Hey dude did you ever get that damn thing on. IM HAVN THE SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP!!!
