I Absolutely love The Smooth Sounds of The Spaniels, one of my favorite groups from the Doo Wop Era. My Favorite songs are, Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight, Everyone’s Laughing,Stormy Weather, and Here Is Why I Love You.
Being from Gary, Indiana The Spaniels not being in The Rock and Roll Hall of fame is a rotten shame. What a slap in the face to one of the greatest groups ever. Got Pookies autograph right before he passed. Even the folks in NYC had a vote on the best base singer, and Gerald Gregory came in first place over Jimmy Ricks of The Ravens. A fav of mine that we use to try and harmonize to was Crazee Baby!! Check it out and thanks for posting!!
Really appreciate the video. My favorite song is Don't go. Pookie was a favorite of Arron Neville and Smokey said his first record he ever bought was Baby its you by the Spaniels.
Thanks for the story on The Spaniels. They were before my time but I heard their tunes being played on my parents' record player as well as when listening to dusties on the radio and the late great Dj, Herb Kent, aka The Cool Gent played their music. My favorite song by them is "Goodnight Sweetheart." In addition, regarding Hall of Fames, I would think Rhythm n Blues as well as RRHOF would be a fitting placement for this talented group.
Godnight Sweetheart Goodnight. They used 4 Black Spaniels on an album for white kids, whose parents did not want brown men on the album. The kids did not care, I was born in 1942, and I saw all at THE REGAL in Chicago.

The best song, I vote for “Stormy Weather “
Although it was already done many times by others artist, the Spaniels did my favorite version.

You played the wrong record.Instead of I Know you played I Know I Know that Pookie sang with the Imperials on Double L Records.
