You are paying attention! A chemical will have a very specific retention time, analysis after analysis, day after day. Identification has to be based upon comparison with known compounds. GC never actively identifies anything. It is not an easy concept.
please help me: when i Tune GC-MS, check gas leak after i turn off GC-MS, the computer appearance: Tune stopped: multiple messages, see logbook i see and delete data don't need but not ok. beside ions mass 1, mass 3: 69-502 change 77-503, help me!!!!! :( thanks everybody
They are seperated by size, boiling point, or by whether they are polar versus no polar. So lets take Methane from Propane. It a C3 versus a C1. Send them through a packed column and the fastest to come out is the smaller. Then take propane from propylene. One is hunting to bond and get rid of its double bond ---propylene. Simple stuff kid......
I liked that you showed what was going on with the different compounds. :)
This video made this topic so smooth to understand thanks prof.
good, but what about the stationary (liquid) phase? showing adsorption from the gas into the liquid, and revaporization?
Thanks a lot. It was a very nice video. Abdul
How is Amobarbital's retention time 8:88?? And Methaqualone is 12:89? What kind of minutes are these measured in
excellent music
Gives the main idea about GC. Thanks.
Why are the spikes different sizes on the graph?
Very good explanation
Now my life makes sense.
what is the name of the song? I liked it
All these compunds have melting points around 300 C, GC is for volatile compounds... ¿?
8:88 minutes on amobarbital?
Thank you for this video
anybody know what song this is???
I think it is good. It requires attention and thought from the viewer, but that is a requirement for any learning.
omfg thx, dam did u program this ?

Perfect video. Very helpful!
Excellent!
it shows me clearly what is GC
thx :)
Thanks very much..easy to understand
Great video, thanks.
Nice music track!
SO NICE
helpful
Great way
i wish if making graphs for the separated compounds ,was that easy...... the only thing i understood , 'the music is good'
the music: full of suspens! "what compound's next??"
Thanks a lot and awesome music! :D
Super good! Thanks
thanks a lot, very helpful!

Who knows how to make this kind of video??Thanks
thanks you so much
great....
Anyone here after reading the chemistry text book. Stage 2?
this is bs. I wanted a voiced explanation, not particles dancing to elevator music
i love this comment so much, i hope ur having a good life 9 years later
Yeah fr, after 12 years I promise this video doesn't get any better.
*suspense
Great video, thanks.
