  • I picked up this tenor banjo - Ozark 2141T - around 9 months ago off gumtree. I’ve wavered on the question of whether I would prefer a short scale 17 fret TB, and consequently haven’t spent much time trying to get to grips with this 19 fret TB. However, I decided to give it a go, get a tune to post and take it from there. Set up not quite right, not sure about best plectrum to use, as yet, and scope for improvement in the playing. But, decided to post as is and move on.

All these questions take time to settle, and sometimes it takes a very long time, you cant wait for that. I'm playing my flat back since 2008 and found the right plectrum in about 10 years.... I think your post is alright, it makes people dance and shouting bravo - good work!

Thank you Toomas… One of the joys of playing musical instruments is that there is always room for progression and refinement.

Great banjo picking, John. Your triplets are clear and even. I don't see why you would want to improve on this, it's great.

Thank you Ginney. I was happy with the triplets I executed…but I didn’t execute some that I’d intended to….but on reflection the listener may not have realised that. Overall, I am satisfied/can’t complain.

@@johnwilliamson6846 I do that all the time John - plan for double stops or a chord and then get all nervous and just play the straight notes.

Hey John, great playing and hope you are still enjoying the banjo! Just wondering if you have any leads on where I could purchase one of these? Played one in a shop about 3 years ago and have been trying to find one ever since. Lovely mid range banjo.

Hi David. Yes, still enjoying banjo playing, even though I haven’t played the one I now have v much… I sold the Ozark one (about 12 months ago) as I opted for a small scale TB (Gold Tone IT-250). I’m afraid I’m not able to signpost you anywhere…I think Ozark stopped making that model.
