Good video man. I recently got a Pvs14 and was racking my brain on how to take up some of the play in the j arm/mount and the tension cord solved that question.
I got my first night vision setup last year and got lucky and found the same unit from a guy on ARFcom for only 2k. Came with spec sheet and great specs with no blems. Came with the G24 mount and a dual dovetail mount so I can use it over either eye. Only difference is mine is the thin filmed, is GP and is just the tan/Coyote Cerakote instead of camo. I use one of the Low Light Innovations purple filter that makes it look similar to WP and also did one of the DIY eclipse setups with a Butler creek flip cap on the end. Helps for admin stuff close up with just the flick on f a finger I can close it and helps seeing you close and then I can open it back up for infinite view. Nice setup for beginners I think. Good video too man thanks👍
That’s a great deal. I definitely like the unfilmed WP… but it really isn’t that big of a deal. Funny thing is people who aren’t in-the-know look through it and think it’s somehow “not real night vision” because of course real night vision is green.
It’s pretty simple. I know when I was getting started it was hard to find an explanation of it piece-by-piece to understand how everything interfaces. Once it’s all broken down into individual parts it’s easy.
Glad you enjoyed it. I’m hoping to do some good night vision filming but it will probably have to wait until summer so I can do a weekend trip to get really good footage out in nature. There are better and worse setups, but for me this was the best way to get a lot of performance where it matters, while implementing more of a budget on less critical aspects. I find it comfortable, effective, and overall I’m very happy with how it turned out.
Gen2 can be impressive. In hindsight, I probably would have been fine with Gen2… it just doesn’t get dark enough where I live to fully appreciate how capable the Gen3 is.
Thanks, it’s not the fanciest thing around, but I think I put the money in where it matters the most and made the compromises in reasonable ways that don’t significantly limit capability given what my goals are- high quality image intensification with light weight and comfort.
good set up vid, remember night vis is an investment think out each piece for your set up. hhv micro latice pads will give greatest comfort for wearing all night, 4D comes in second in my opinion. bump or ballistic COMFORT IS KING!
That’s one of the reasons I went with a bump, comfort. Just trying to keep the weight down. I made the quick mental calculation that chances of sustaining a neck injury from excess weight are probably higher than a helmet stopping fragmentation in the USA. I’ll look into that other system. Truth is I really don’t wear this very much. Living in a city, it’s just too bright even at night. I have to wait for power outages.
You’re certainly welcome. I’ll hopefully be posting some videos through it as we get into the spring. Need to take a camping trip to get some real darkness.
I could be wrong on this- but I think that’s a feature of the J-arm rather than the mount, isn’t it? Pretty sure I selected the J-arm option that doesn’t turn off as a matter of preference, although I’ll have to go look at it to remember.
I have fast bump, Wilcox G24, and a ax-14 pro Mount (instead of j-arm) but I can’t get my pvs-14 to tilt down enough to line up with my eye. It’s slightly tilted up and my g24 is maxed out to pivot down. Any advice anyone? Thanks!!
They are offered in three different sizes and a variety of colors. Their website has circumference dimensions so it should be fairly easy to measure the circumference of your head and decide based on that.
Thanks for the helpful video dude
Glad it was helpful. Thank you for commenting.

It really makes a big difference in stability. Simple solution, but it works.

Thank you for the video. Answers most of my questions on that setup.

Thank you for sharing, looking at getting a similar setup soon.

Gen 2 ftw here! 👍

You’re the man John!
Thanks!

Does that G24 turn off your PVS14 when flipped up?
I could be wrong on this- but I think that’s a feature of the J-arm rather than the mount, isn’t it?

Not all the fancy stuff? LOL. I'd say that's all still pretty fancy gear. Higher-end bump, WP filmless 14, G24 and D2. Slummin' it. ;)
Just poverty stricken over here. Please send ramen noodles.

Is it possible you’re wearing your helmet too far back on your head or maybe it’s too small for you?
hey can you put pvs 15 on a pvs 14 mount?
As long as they’re both the same type of attachment, it shouldn’t be a problem at all. Dovetail on the PVS-15 and dovetail on the mount- have at it.
@@ColterBrog ok thank you
Where did you get the ear pro?
I think just at a local store. They’re really common- just Howard Leight Impact Sport.
Does the ops core size smaller
