In this video, Anne and I visit Cannon Beach Oregon on an unseasonably warm autumn day Nov 7th, 2018. I show you the sights and sounds of one of our all-time favorite beaches including the tides pools in front of famous Haystack Rock and the Needles.
We finish the day at nearby Hug Point at sunset to walk the secluded beach and view a beautiful waterfall.
Stay tuned for the next video where we return to Cannon Beach the next day for sunset.

Just saw cannon Beach//haystack rock 2 weeks ago slept overnight on the dunes...it was spectacular...swam in the ocean a bit Watch out for Rocks though!!!!

Great! We were there 3 years ago and couldn't see much because of the wildfire smoke. Now we see what we missed.
Too bad, luck of the draw, we have been many times and it was so fogged in you could barely see the rocks.
Pretty much have giving up television for these kinds of terrific people creative views. Can't help but thanking the Creator for his touch.

Lovely beach! I really like that kind of weather where it is a bit blustery and chilly, but it is great for a walk in good warm clothes.
Thank you for taking both of us along with you through these marvellous places via your cameras. Cannon Beach is breathtaking as usual and we really liked the sunset at Hug Beach. The anemones in the tide pools have an amazing aqua green colour almost like that shade of Chinese pottery called celadon

Cannon Beach is awesome....However, it is nothing like it was back when my family had a cabin there, which was from 1956 until 1980. My father worked for the Portland school district, he had summers off and so we spent a lot of time at Cannon Beach. I have many fond memories of the time we spent there.
It wasn't until just recently that I learned there is a second 'Haystack Rock' at Pacific City. You'll have to take the short detour off Hwy 101 to Pacific City some time and check it out, also this is a very pretty section of the coast. There is a pretty nice RV park there too.
I'm glad to hear how much you're enjoying your new truck. I must say though I missed seeing Angie in your videos.

I had known there was a monolith at Pacific City that looked like THE Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach but only recently found out they called it by the same name.
Absolutely breathtaking. I just want to thank you both for taking the time and effort to bring us along on your travels. I'm still working towards getting a rig and going full-time. I'll get there. And I'll have a nice long list of places to check out, from watching your vids. Thanks again.

Very nice video, Ray. Nice to see you and Anne enjoying your lives and traveling. The power of the Pacific Ocean always amazes me, even though I spent childhood years in the San Francisco Bay area. A powerful force of nature. Still not used to seeing Blue Two, yet. Still looking for Big Blue in shots of RV Parks, etc. Travel safe.

What a terrific video Ray! The reflections on the beach, especially at sunset, were amazing and I laughed out loud when Anne mentioned how hard it's starting to get to squat down for those low shots! I just complained to my wife about that very same thing!

You are tougher then I am!! I would have the hair rubbed off of most of the dogs on that beach! That was the case some years ago when I lost Jake, our yellow lab.
I'm lucky spent a week at my sisters who has two large furry dogs to maul. :)
You can get some great monochromatic shots along the coast.
I've been living in Oregon since 2002 (Corvallis) and I'd say you've gotten extremely lucky weather wise...it's usually raining in November ...I subbed, cheers
Yes, this is by far the best weather since we started using this route for our yearly trip south back in the fall of 2012, last few Aprils coming back have been above average too. Cheers, Ray
Really like the more personal approach. The interaction between your wife makes this vid more personal, and more intimate. Then there is the shot of you walking past the camera, which is a nice approach. Makes you two seem more approachable, like friends, as opposed to just some UA-cam couple with an R/V. Me thinks you should move more towards this approach.

It's a Gitzo Traveller with a Really Right Stuff Ball Head. Expensive stuff but really light and well built, its carbon fiber, she has had it 10 years now, very happy with it. Cheers, Ray

Yes, she does most of her landscape photos with an Alpha 6000 and she also has an older NEX6. She has Canon 7D she uses mostly for wildlife with big lenses. The Sony's and their lenses are nice and light for hiking around with. Cheers, Ray

We are in the process of planning our 2019 summer itinerary and this will be one of our stops. Do you have a favorite RV park in this area?
I like Nehalem Bay SP its about 30 minutes south but much nicer than an RV Park - ua-cam.com/video/zDkwOxbKHvU/v-deo.html
We used to stay at the Seaside Thousand Trails park about 10 miles north, when we had their yearly zone pass for camping - www.thousandtrails.com/oregon/seaside-rv-resort/ Wasn't too bad, they have a pool and hot tub.

ahh, then look to make reservations early, the coast is really busy I hear during the summer months. We are lucky to pass by in the offseason.

Was curious what the sign on Haystack Rock says?

Thanks, Daniel, we were camped at Nehalem Bay SP - ua-cam.com/video/zDkwOxbKHvU/v-deo.html The signs were basically warning people not to go any further past them to protect the wildlife, lots of nesting birds use the rock including Puffins.
We'll get another dog or two someday, we loved having dogs, but plan to take a break from having one for a while. It gives us a little freedom we didn't have to do some things. Cheers, Ray
