We know that the Build Burning is a Sei Iori original, it's not a custom based on any preexisting kits. At that point, making a set of Dom-looking armor parts to clasp over the thing sounds like the easy part, tbh.

I don't understand, when you pierce something it means to go straight through. The dom suit was pierced straight through the middle, and out the other end. Why wasn't the gundam also pierced? 😭

The thing is probably registered as one complete unit, there was a proper, physical model underneath after all (notice that the "outer shell" gundam is completely gone now that the core body has been revealed). It's a one time party trick, and as so many of the characters within this version of the gundam universe like to say, "Gunpla is freedom."

if you can BUILD the gimmick into the model, it's valid. there are tons of different gimmicks in the whole series
