Thanks, going to change the oil myself for the first time on my 85 model. Shop now wants $125 for the job and that is too much. Don't have a torque wrench though.
Thanks for the videos, I am currently working on a 1986 sl 560 seems to be similar. On your other videos you mentioned torque setting, where did you find that?
That’s great. I found a reference manual on the benzworld forum. I have it saved at home but I’m currently out of town for a week. If you can’t find it, let me know.
Hello, what do you think about using the 20w50 in my 1981 Mercedes Benz 380 sl in Colorado? I saw in some videos that they change them for 5w30, what do you know about that? thank you
Really enjoying your videos! You checking oil oil dipstick level when the engine is hot or cold? I’m checking mine cold and no oil reading on the dipstick
Thanks Tom! Glad someone is watching 😀… I’m not sure if it matters if it’s hot or cold but the engine is off. I know that the trans oil check needs to be hot and engine on.
Hmmm, not really sure. Mine comes off pretty easily. Don’t force it. It should be okay. My coolant bolt broke off but that’s a different story. I think there is more corrosion there. (Video on the channel)
Thank you for posting!!! I have an ‘83 and this inspired me to change the oil myself.
That’s great! Good luck!
still watching and learning. thank you.
Hi... I'm in Brazil 🇧🇷, ponta grossa city... I'm mechanic...

Great. I don’t think the torque is all that important on an oil change. Just snug should do. Good luck.

Hello. I think you have to follow the spec recommendation based on your climate. The dealership should be able to help.
@@sophiathe380slgracias!!

What is the likelihood of the filter bolt being seized/shearing upon removal?
I'm doing oil change on my 1976 350sl soon.

@sophiathe380sl I'm going to replace my thermostat. My temperature gauge shows below 175 degree's Fahrenheit when running. Any advice?
@@viraf21 Watch my video on bouncing temperature gauge. Those bolts can snap so be careful. 175, isn’t that good? Why would you replace it?
@@sophiathe380sl 175 is the correct warm temperature. Mine takes ages to get anywhere close. Don't want it to run cold as increases wear.
