Greek Island Hopping from Santorini - Naxos, Paros, Ios on a Budget 2023

- Thinking about going Island hopping when you are in Santorini or planning on visiting? Check out these local Greek islands in the Cyclades. Naxos, Paros and Ios were on our list to check out and we show you what to expect and how much these Greek islands will cost you so you can budget before you go.
We took the ferry to Naxos from Santorini and got some reasonable tickets with Blue Star ferries. We did the majority of trips on the Blue Star Delos but also experienced the Blue Star Naxos and the Hellenic Highspeed ferries too.
Naxos, Paros and Ios are all fairly close together, with Paros being the farthest away if you are heading from Santorini. Ios is the closest island to Santorini and that journey takes around 45 minutes by slow ferry.

Me and my other half have been visiting Greece since 2016...we just fell in love with the place and although It's a big wide world out there to explore Greece just won our hearts on our first ever visit back in 2016. Something very special about the country...great vid and It's given us some new ideas for other Islands to visit 😁👍
Hey Kev! We had island hopping planned for a while but it always took a back step for other plans. Greece is very special but is getting increasingly expensive from what it once was. Hi guys, loved this so much. As I have commented before, we go to Greece more than anywhere else if we can. Great fresh food, good beer and fantastic hospitality ❤ I agree though, not the cheapest. Naxos looked stunning 🤩 I really recommend Parga (on the West coast of the mainland) and Lefkada island…both flying into Preveza on the mainland. 🎉
Ey up Kezza! Funny you should mention that as a late deal came up for Parga. It would have been much more enjoyable if we had a better budget, although as this was the last couple of weeks before we came home we were broke beyond belief trying to survive on €20 or less a day for both of us. Naxos was definitely our favourite though. Hope you're keeping well x

Yeah you're easily looking at €3-3.50 minimum on many islands. We were living off the local 1.5L bottles of wine from the supermarket for a few euros 😆. Thanks for watching!

Hey! Naxos for sure. It just had a bit more charm for us. Paros was a very close 2nd. We didn't rate Ios and wouldn't go back as there was very little to do.
Thank you for this vid! My fiancé and I are planning to travel in Greece in mid september but it's hard to choose from all theses wonderful islands ! We were told that Naxos is really "family friendly" and we want to avoid it as much as possible. Did you notice that there are more children in Naxos that Paros ou Ios ? Thank you 😁
Hey Lou! We didn't really notice many children on any of the islands in fairness, or really anything for them to do that would attract families. The Greeks love kids though. We stayed by the port though so we can't say for any other resorts in Naxos. It's a bit of a faff getting to them by ferry and something that a lot of families would avoid. Naxos was our favourite though. Thanks very much for watching and hopefully you'll enjoy our Santorini vlog when that's released (hopefully Sunday) which was our final stop on our 6 month journey.
Crazy question: Can you purchase a bag of ice in a market to keep things cold in a small cooler? Just wondering. I am going to Paros soon.

Hey Wendy. Yeah they sell ice and it's cheaper at the big supermarkets. Not sure how much it is though.
If you were suggesting Island hopping for a week which Islands do yo suggest and how for long. On a budget!😆
Greece is very difficult to do on a tight budget unless you do like we did and live on gyros. There are lots of different islands however our favourites are Crete, Rhodes and Kalymnos. This is the first time we've done local islands but found 3 nights was enough.
I find that the wine prices are pretty reasonable, especially bottles of wine bought from groceries on Greek islands.😅
In all fairness you're right, especially compared to prices in the UK. The wine from Santorini is amazing. Definitely some benefits to those living on a volcanic island!
