Dry bags also give you an extra layer of water proofing. The frame bags, if large can act like a sail in windy conditions, not nice in strong cross winds.
Would be interested to know what you do about the security of your stuff if you have to leave the bike to go into a supermarket for example?
My system uses a backpack which enables me to transfer about 90% of my kit from the bike to my back easily. Also considering a long light cable combination lock.
